Another little taste of Christian metal with Messiah Prophet and their song Hit and Run from the album Master of the Metal, a very difficult band to find as I explain, are you a Messiah Profit fan? get in those comments and tell me about it!
Messiah Prophet was a pioneering band in Christian metal, releasing two albums in the mid eighties and one more with a different lineup in 1996.

Dude, "Heavy Metal Thunder" is awesome. And Daniel Band's "Walk on the Water" is very good too.

I love that you cover this kind of music. It is what I grew up listening to. My experience with Christian rock of any sort started with Russ Taff. Though not really rock or as hard as I wanted it led me to Messiah Prophet. Masters of the Metal was the one album by them I loved. Particularly the song master of the Metal. I was just getting into guitar at that time too so the sound was influential to me. Then Whitecross, rex carrol so amazing, then Barren Cross then some stryper ofcourse into Deliverance..my all time favorite then into believer and sacred warrior and so many more. Deliverance is my top like, but this band basically got my metal juices flowing, besides what I could hear late at night on a radio. Peace!

Well this goes back some ways. Messiah Prophet formed in the late 70's buy original singer Gil Tabor and guitarist Dean Pellman in Pennsylvania and are one of the earliest Christian metal acts. Their first album Rock the Flock added new vocalist Charlie Clark guitarist Andy Strauss and drummer Dave Daubert. This album got the interest of a new lable Pure Metal Records and Messiah Prophet became the very first signed artist on the label. Which lead to the 1986 album Master of the Metal which this song comes from. During touring of this album the band fell apart. They were at the time working on music for a third album even played some of the new material. 1987 saw Strauss and a new guitarist Brian Nicarry leave the band taking with them all the music that was to be Metal Messiah. They tried to forge on but just kind of fell into the abyss but did manage to record a new song that showed up on Ultimate Metal compilation. A third album eventually did appear in 1995 called Colors. Not one original member was part of this album. And it's a much more poppy metal sound.

Messiah Prophet was my entrance to Christian Metal when growing up. The 80s and 90s was an amazing time for Christian rock and metal.

We appreciate your hard work in bringing these to us. Messiah Prophet only put out 2 albums, Rock the Flock 1984 and Master of the Metal 1986. You mentioned David Zaffiro as a related artist. He was the first guitarist for Bloodgood. He released several solo albums, The Other Side from 1989 being the best of them. Messiah Prophet was alright, But Saint, Sacred Warrior, Daniel Band, Barnabas, Detritus and Seventh Angel were better to me.

They actually put out three albums, but the third one (Colors) had all different members, and a different sound. So it was only Messiah Prophet in name. The lead singer would have sung on it, but the people behind the band wanted to move with the times, so he bowed out. (sadly)

I saw them at Cornerstone 1986, along with Saint, Barren Cross, Philadelphia, Resurrection Band, the Altar Boys, Undercover, One Bad Pig, the 77’s, and a whole lot more! What a festival that was!

I saw Messiah Prophet open for Barren Cross back in the day. I remember we got there really early like we always did and got to help set up the concert. Setting up tables for the stage and running cords and carrying equipment. That is one thing that my friend and I always did we went there hours early and usually got to be Free Roadies. We always had front and center seats for all the shows we did that on mostly Bride and Barren Cross shows but others as well.

They were a Christian metal band originally from the Lancaster, PA area. Rock the Flock was their first album. Master of the Metal was their 2nd album. I saw them multiple times in concert. Very good band. Charlie Clark, the lead singer passed away a few years back, I read somewhere, of cancer. The artwork on both albums is killer!!

Saw Messiah Prophet open for Bloodgood here in Kansas City 1987. The release prior was ok for a debut, but it wasn't metal, hard rock at best, then this monster came out. I still listen to Master of the Metal to this day. They then broke up and just kinda fizzled. There was another version of the band, but that went nowhere. Vocalist Charlie Clark passed away in 2018

Very early Christian Metal. Way before it was popular to do "Jesus" metal. Love how you give these bands a fair shot with their music and not calling it second class. I believe the name was a reaction to Judas Priest. New to your channel but I love it. Not sure if you have looked into Jerusalem yet, but if you haven't look for the song Sodom. Would put it up there with any late 70s early 80s rock/metal song

Your replica-Spotify artwork is beautiful, darling! 🤘 I do find the album art a little distracting, though, only because it looks way too much like Thor or He-Man (in my opinion). It's a little too close to Masters of the Universe - do I dare ask if it was deliberate, considering the title Master of the Metal??? Did Mattel, Filmation, or DC Comics threaten to sue? If not, they should have. That musing aside, the guy second from the right in the band photo looked kinda cute (I would have to see video to make a better assessment), and the song was a solid "OK" for me and another one for the 50/50 column...I was not overwhelmed but I didn't think it was terrible, either....
