Just a fantastic game. I played this and Shipyard back to back for the first time this year, and I can't decide between them. I really like the variable scoring in the advanced game. And whilst I'm not certain, I think there's definitely a strategy that involves purposely taking a couple of rats to allow you to push up a track earlier or something. Not sure yet.

Shipyard and Pulsar 2849 are my favorite games from him, but I haven't liked a lot of his other games, not sure how this one compares.

@@ChairmanoftheBoard Should push to play Shipyard, for sure a great one of his designs. I played everythinf suchy made and Shipyard is in my Top 3 (1. Underwater 2. Pulsar 3. Shipyard)

I am a fan of euro games and can often overlook a bland theme and/or less than brilliant graphic design if the game’s mechanisms are particularly interesting, but in this case nothing in the game play intrigues me any more than a dozen other games and the dull uninspiring look of every aspect of the game, from the boards to the icons to the hexes, added to the fact that the theme is based around a city struggling to survive the Black Death makes this one a definite pass for me, I’m afraid.

This game looks so incredibly bland. From the cover of the box to victory point track it is the opposite of exciting. The gameplay too is very predictable. There really isn't a singe element in this game that surprises you, no innovation. Yes it combines different elements competently but I just don't see why I would ever pull this one off the shelf. I highly doubt anyone will talk about ita year after its proper release.
