Messina 1347 Review

Thanks for the review. Pulsar 2849 is my second favorite of Suchy's. I have yet to play Messina 1347 or Shipyard though. My top 5 so far would be 1) Underwater Cities 2) Pulsar 2849 3) Last Will 4) Praga Caput Regni 5) The Prodigals Club

I was hoping this one wouldn't be so abstract euro-y. Regardless, moving around a map and the theme is appealing. Shipyard by Vladimir Suchy is decent fun for someone like me who enjoys industrial themes and rondels.

I think this game didn’t sell precisely because of the theme and being way too close to current events of last 3 years. It’s the reason I had zero interest in it. Just hearing the word ‘quarantine’ when I read about it turned me off. Who wants to game around a theme like this while it’s happening in real life? It’s now on sale on sites for $29 and still not selling. Don’t know if this was just an unlucky game design coincidence on Suchy’s part or if he purposely tried to design this around current events (for what purpose?) , but its theme definitely had something to do with its poor sales. I like Suchy, and $29 is tempting because it has good reviews , but this is not escapism.

Do you think that Last Will expansion is a must have? Also what do you think about Prodigals Club?

I did not care for Prodigals Club. I never did play with the Last Will expansion.

@@jaroslawchmiel7193 Honestly... it's been so long... My vague memory is that it just kind of re-did the same feel as Last Will but was less fun. I can't even rightly recollect the game though. That's just my memory of an impression :)
