G'day Scott, If a picture is worth a thousand words, then your episodes at the Antique Boat Museum must be worth a million more. It makes me appreciate the history behind the passion, your Grandfather has instilled in you, and your love for the old fashion and grace full, wooden boats.....

Thanks Warren! My wife considers it a problem more than a virtue, although she is anxiously awaiting the launch of the Lyman today which she loves as well.

Another beautiful episode, I loved “Dorothy”, OMG the lines of that boat were beautiful! I also liked how the insides of some were painted shiny black, that is a show stopper for sure! I wonder, Scott, are those fat sack filled boats as popular as they are out here? You know the ones filled so much you wonder how they can even see where they are going and produce 3 foot waves?Talk about ruining a beautiful day on the lake! I had in my mind, wonder what Scott would do if a wave like that came by!!!! Funny Thanks again Nena

As a former competitive barefoot skier, I can kind of understand those wakeboard boats, at least needing a specific boat for a sport. I have a barefoot warrior ski boat and my son is thinking about buying one of those "Fat Sack" boats, he is a pretty good wakeboarder. Whenever I see them I just think of possible damage to docks and boats tied to them but here on the St Lawrence those wakes would pale in comparison to some of the large yachts and ships. In the old days I would just jump those wakes, now crashing hurts too much so I try to avoid it :)

@@glassgoat9601 oh, now I feel terrible! We were blind sighted once by a wave and I slammed my elbow down so hard I had a golfball sized injury to my left elbow! So there, I’m prejudiced! On our Malibu Sunsetter we have a really nice barefoot setup, I think it’s a Mike Spegial? Something like that, we love taking anyone brave enough to go, it’s pretty fun!

Don’t feel terrible, I think they shouldn’t be allowed on some lakes or in some areas, on the St Lawrence they are medium players at best compared to big wave makers. I knew Mike Seipel well back in the late 80’s. Used to train with him in Lantana Florida. I can still barefoot backwards off of a 5’ handle on the boom.

Well Scott, the cool thing here is to surf behind the boat! I’ll tell you what Scott, I’ve got a Wakekite superfly 5.5 just sitting in my garage, if he wants to try it I will gladly send it to him! Ask him how much he likes air? It’s only been used a few times, really, my nephew wasn’t as coordinated as he thought!

I just looked that thing up, watched a video about it and instantly thought of any number of things that could go wrong, and I used to regularly jump off bridges holding a ski rope to barefoot. I always thought the best thing about barefooting was the lack of things attached to you. Injuries in barefooting are rare but most good wakeboarders seem to have at least one knee brace. We use wake surf boards with the Lyman, but the wake isn’t quite high enough for me to go without the rope, maybe if I was lighter? I don’t think I’ll be telling Hobie about this wakekite thing, he has to take care of my granddaughter :)
