That's good to know - a couple other people have mentioned that those lights can be a little shocking. Definitely did not know that.

That looks like a Molex connector
@patrickprescott51666 жыл бұрын
I think you nailed it. I don't believe they're water tight either.
@garyallsebrook34936 жыл бұрын
Patrick Prescott they’re not!
@Timothy-NH6 жыл бұрын
Your right, and they are not water tight, but we used those under the hood of cars here in New England, on our salt covered roads, for years and rarely had an issue with them. I use to wrap them with a rubberized electrical tape.

Good to know! Thanks for the info!

I believe these are the same strobes that are in my cv (it's been a while since I've looked at the strobe or controller), one only works some of the time. I don't use them for anything as the rear ones are in the brake lights meaning red strobes, which I could get in big trouble for. I'm too lazy to pull one of the working ones out or I'd send it to ya haha. I see somebody below has offered to send you one for free though :D
@TheCopCar6 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated! I completely understand. Even if you pulled them, then you'd have a hole in the light housing, and if the rain water gets in there, that might not be good for your lights.

That too :D

Think “DeOxit”

Sounds like you need a control unit to power/control the strobes? Or could you make some simple set up to run them?

That plug under the horns is for a plug n play headlight flasher.

Is the siren speaker still in there ?
@TheCopCar6 жыл бұрын
Definitely is - and it's loud.
@chanceyclark96166 жыл бұрын
TheCopCar I was gonna say if the speaker was not in there those wires would have been the best guess I'd say it may have had some grill lights at some point

Yes, it could just be the corrosion. You can pop out the male pins with needle nose pliers. The female pins, there was actually a tool for them (well, for the male and female) you can see that tool here: www.amazon.com/Connector-Remover-Computer-Extractor-Sleeving/dp/B0094MIS9U (I think that is the right size) Now, if you consider that that one is corroded, the others may not be far behind, so check out this: www.amazon.com/MUYI-Waterproof-Electrical-Connector-Terminals/dp/B01FP1HXIU

Hey Allen, those white connectors (a type of Molex connector) are the ones I offered you if you need them (brand new from when I had my business). Personally, I’d change out the connectors & put some dielectric grease on them (although hard to tell in the video, it does look like normal corrosion/grease). On all my installs, I also wrapped the entire 2 connectors & wires with electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing (for weatherproofing). If you don’t want to change out the connectors & use what you already have, you can slice/dice your existing stuff. Just match the wires up by color. Be VERY careful not to touch “hot” wires coming off your strobe power supply/that go to where you connect the bulb as these put out ALOT of volts! (Found this out the hard way by accident once 😂, it’ll definitely make your hair stand up ⚡️⚡️). Let us know what you decide & lmk if you need any of those connectors via my inbox & I’ll get them out to you asap. ~Larry

How many of those connectors do you have? Looks like I may need at least one. I have a shipping address in the video description.

I have connections to my trunk tray in my 09 vic that have pigtails similar to the pcc8r from whelen. Im wondering if ordering the switch board and remote itll make all the head light strobes to work as they are all wired in still. Contact me. Im a tech at ford. Im savy with electrical. Can test all the leads etc. Just want to know what i need to make the intact strobes work. As in remote wise. Since they are all wired and labeled to the trunk

Dielectric grease is what you were trying to think of. The connector on the strobe looked okay to me but the female side looked like it may have been melted a little bit? You could get another connector from a public safety store like strobes-n-more.com or speedtechlights.com

It looked rough, I couldn't tell if it was just really dirty or if it was damaged. Thanks for the info!

If you should happen to have the Whelen "street comet" system Galls dot com still sells replacement base with bulbs cheap, the grease is called diaeltric or themal grease , on your headlights dont replace them get McGuires headlight restores compound and a Dremel tool or drill with polishing wheel they will be good as new, some people moded there Vics to LED headlights & some to Mercury Marquis sport headlight/taillight which have a darker more sinister look , but i think your goal is keeping stock, my reccomendation for always having what you need or want is a Gerber or SOG Multitool with the expansion sheath it gives you plyers wire cutters/strippers, awls, ream, knife regular and serated ,file ,flat & philiphs , torx heads and some of the basic universal NUT drivers, they attach to the flat head driver arm to give you leverage , takes up no more space that a pocket knife . One you replace that strobe make sure you silicone after screwing it in it looked you might also have Whelen Vertx installed which are minature led flash lightheads . Good luck , someone the other day on the Whelen board listed an almost new inner edge for a Vic for sale made me think of you think of you . Peace!

If the strobe light plug on the corner light is the same as the strobe in the headlight then you could take it and plug it into that plug to see if it works because you know strobe in headlights works! If it does then you know it’s the bulb if not then it’s plug and behind not the bulb

No worries. I'll probably be passing through your neck of the woods on 60 in the afternoon tomorrow. I have to move a truck from south Florida to Tampa. Every time I pass through that area, I keep thinking we need to meet up, just never have time to stop.
