Today I read in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 1 through 5. Talks a lot about our own lives, and the work that God gives us. Marie I hope you are filled with joy, and it is OK in certain seasons to feel the happiness of life. I have four kiddos and I am 28 years old. I feel so overwhelmed some days, but I hold on to hope in Jesus and I know that you do too. Just come on here to remind you to love yourself. It’s so easy to compare..Satan wants to compare our lives with others. I went through the past few months without reading my Bible and thinking I can get by with just prayer. Marie, husband's and wife's do need time together. I know it can be hard to find that time. Parents are what binds the family together. They come first. For trips, you guys can start out with small one day trips. Like packing a lunch and taking a drive somewhere or spending one day at the beach, I'm not sure what you have in your area. Day trips can be just as fun. Then build up to longer trips.

O sweet friend. I have been with my husband married for 21 years but together since high school. We are in our early 50’s right now. We have 3 kids one we just lost about 6 months ago she was 31 and had 2 kids which we are now raising. I say all this to say that without the strength of the Lord we would not have made it. It is still hard. But you said it right Communication is key! Also, date your husband. Even if it’s when the kids are asleep sit up pop popcorn and just talk. Connect. We still implement dating each other after all these years. Stay strong and I pray the strength of the Lord and the peace of God engulf you as you read this. My husband is totally a mountain person if we go somewhere. that’s his pick. I can remember my daughter being like that at night and I would be by myself because my husband worked out of town and I couldn’t afford to fall asleep with her still awake, I’m not ashamed to say this , I use to give her kids melatonin so we could both go to sleep but it was just a brief time I had to do that. But I also relate to you with the burnt out moments. Theirs time when my husband gets home I will leave him with the kids and go park at McDonald’s and get me some fries and coke to just sit in peace and quiet! You’re right marriage is hard! Eric doesn't like the ocean so he will forever choose the mountains over the ocean. Lol. I have to give Arabella melatonin for a brief time when she was 2 because she never needed sleep it seemed. She woke up early before the sun, stopped napping and wouldn't fall asleep until like 2am every night. 😴

We take our kids somewhere 1-2 times a year. This spring break we went to Gatlinburg! We have 4 kids … 9,6,4 and 2! It was rough but totally worth it ❤

I know it's hard when you have so many people to care for. You're right it does put a strain on marriage when both people are so busy and don't have time to really communicate. Family vacations are important to make memories with your kids. I do hope that maybe every now and then you & Eric can go out alone and enjoy each others company. It means so much to a marriage. Sure your kids will grow up and you will have time to talk more but staying close to each other now is very important. I take my kids every year to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and we love it. it's really not that bad. they do so good, we also rent a cabin and it helps having the kitchen and room to roam!

I learned something new today from your video. I will try to fix steaks the way you did. Cooking steaks has always been intimidating to me even I have been cooking nearly 40 years. My mother was not a great cook & she cooked steaks in cast iron pan but they were black burnt on outside & bloody in the inside. I just have my hubby cook steaks on grill but I will attempt to cook steaks your way. Thank you for sharing.

For cooking them in the foil, I will chop them up next time before cooking. Sear the steaks on the outside on medium heat, chop them up, add oil and seasonings, wrap in foil with potatoes. So good!!

Will def say some prayers for you. I also agree that communicating now is important but I understand it can be difficult to find time😢. I really hope you guys get to do that vaca! I totally understand his thoughts of it not being relaxing with Littles HOWEVER I think if he can change his mindset to not thinking it is going to be relaxing and understand it is about making memories and spending time with family it MAY help a little. I know when we set expectations and they are not met it can be frustrating....I think most people hear vacation and think relaxing....maybe call it something dif...tell him to think of it as a family getaway. Idk lol. And ya'll may even been exhausted from it when you get home and not feel 'rested' BUT at this stage of life where you're at thats ok! I am sure you will be thankful for the trips and memories later on like you said❤

Girl Im praying for you to go to the beach. I have 4 little ones too and if you put in your head it will be fun and not stressful then it will be fun! My husband used to think the same when we had only two but once there he saw it wasnt stressful like he thought. Kids actually act better on a vacation cuz they are so happy. We go twice a year and drive from ohio to either Myrtle beach or Florida and its memories you and kids will never forget. My 3 year old asks all the time to go back😢. Your mama soul needs to travel and see the world even if you go alone with them your oldest can help. A change from routine helps so much. You desrve it girl.

Thanks so much for sharing girl! Me and my husband are in the same boat. We have an 11- and 4-year-old, both with extracurriculars. He works full time while I tend to the home, and we rarely get the time to go out on a date. It's a full-time job staying in a happy sustainable marriage. The constant interruptions and busy schedules can and do overwhelm the best of us. I know you probably felt vulnerable sharing this but hopefully you can see that you are not alone. Adalyn can help with loading and unloading dishwasher also sweeping the floors. She can help load the washer with hers and Arabellas clothes to be washed. It helps. See what happens. 🙏

Yes they do have chore charts. Adi cleans the dining room after dinner, sweeps, unloads dishwasher, cleans kid's bathroom and keeps her room tidy. Arabella and Nolan pick up their toys, tidy their rooms. Jackson helps as much as I can get him to! Lol. He is only two, so choose your battles, right? Haha! 😆

It’s definitely so hard to get time alone in a marriage when you have small children and a house to take care of. My husband and I haven’t been on a vacation in almost 7 years and we are definitely feeling it! We desperately need some time together to strengthen our marriage. Sometimes it can feel like we’re roommates and I definitely want to change that!

Yes lots of motivation. Couples do need alone time, without the kids, and in doing so the children should be in good hands. I'm a mama that worries about my kids a lot. Thanks for sharing with us Marie. God bless your family❤❤👍 I think you should make a two or three days vacation just you and your husband alone, we love our children world without end. But our spouses must always comes first, so we have to be there for each other in our marriage, most time our husband is always on the back burner because we're with the kids. It happens to me where my husband needed me and I was always busy with the kids. My husband is very understanding but he still has feelings. So I pray to God none of us looses our husband because some spouses get tired of it all and walk away not remembering that the kids belong to them too. Hope what am saying helps someone out there❤ I have friends who looses their marriage just because of that. Communication is the key as Marie says we have to talk. Me and my husband is very close always running around like little kids. And I rather it like that than leaving in behind👍

Yes I agree with all that you said. We will start taking mini weekend trips alone once Jackson turns 4. I never like to leave my babies for too long when they are 3 and under. I just worry so much and have bad anxiety. 😔 But I think those vacays will help strengthen our marriage for sure. I just gotta hold it all together until them.

I've always thought it's amazing how you are able to get your filming and editing done. Four kids and one being a toddler, your hands are always full. You would normally be getting some (much needed) rest while your youngest is napping. Not sure if they still do this, but pre-school and even kindergarten would have nap and or quiet time. Yes, prek does naptime, but they stopped it for kindergarten because most of the kids don't nap by age 6 anymore. Nolan naps but Arabella doesn't. It's an Angus steak from walmart. It was good. I'm gonna chop up the steak more next time I make it.

Marie, why not make an allowance chart for the kids. They earn money for doing tasks to help you. You can set up age appropriate tasks that they can pick from. At the end of the week they get rewarded. You can put their names. Also, right before bed, set the clock for 10 minutes and all of you do a quick clean up. Put toys away, throw trash away. Make it fun. Praise them. You can also do a daily kitchen helper. They can help you "cook and set up the kitchen, tables, etc. You have nice kids. They would help you. Just motivate them.

We choose to not pay our kids to clean up their own messes. Lol, but if they help with extra things like cleaning up outside helping my husband or doing extra chores, then we will reward them. Every night, they check off their chore charts. My littles pick up their toys, clean their rooms and my oldest cleans up dining room and helps upload the dishwasher sometimes and once a week, cleans the bathroom toilet, sink and mirror. 😊

Hey Marie! I would love to have a vacation in the mountains! I live close enough to the beach and I’ve been there too many times to count. I know the kids would love the beach. It’s very important to spend time with your partner but when you have little kids and everyone is always busy it’s challenging.

The reason I asked was because I 'm also a stay-at-home mom and if anything happens to my husband It would be impossible to care of my family because his income makes up the bulk of our household income. He has one at work, but we also have a separate one. You can get $200, 000 policy cheap because you guys are so young, and it will give you a piece of mind knowing that if anything happens you can pay your rent buy food and pay your bills. Also do you have a 529 plan education for your children if they don't want to go to college, they can use it for trade school they will one day have to take care of themselves why not start putting something away for their future early.
