It's not that Mel wouldn't be friends with someone that is still friends with Martell. Melody was offended by the way they were handling the situation. Then Destiny was carrying messages. Melody wasn't in agreement with the cheating, more than likely, Martell was telling Mel that relationship was over and she was trying to catch him so he couldn't continue to lie about it.
