My husband literally asked me 2 days ago why I have started watching these videos then came home from work to a fully scrubbed oven,moved furniture (I even cleaned all objects inside the cupboards) and a home cooked meal. Now he even encourages me to watch lol so thank you for making depression and anxiety a real thing and making me personally feel less overwhelmed 💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻 #happymentalhealth

You did great! One of the tricks I use to reduce the anxiety I get from my hoarding tendencies is to box things up that are maybes. Having them out of sight out of mind let's me think more logically when I go back to reevaluate: "I lived six months with out even thinking about this box of things, I don't really need it." :)

One of my biggest organizational struggles is what I call dead bins. I put things in a bin box or bag with the intention of putting them away where they belong and then forget about them so they die there. The issues I have with object permanence makes it even worse. Once the object is out of my sight or neatly stacked in a bin I no longer “see” the items that belong somewhere else I only “see” the bin. While I’m trying to declutter before some big renovations that will happen in a few months I’ve been eliminating my dead bins and bags. I still have bins but they are no longer dead because I know what items belong in them so I actively use them several times a month. For instance I had a dead box of things in my understairs closet but when I cleaned it out i tossed most of it but realized I had a lot of candles and room fresheners in the box. So bought a nicer open to bin for the candles and smelly stuff. That way when I’m looking for a new smell or run out, I can shop from that bin that easily accessible instead of spending more money going to the store.

I have moved away from boxes and have only purchased about 30 clear storage bins. Makes everything so much easier. Everything is put away but I can see and I'd just about everything in a bin without even opening the lid. If I put something specific in a bin I'm going to need soon ill write it on a paper and slide it inside. I can find that bin in one sec just by seeing that paper

I hope you are okay Laura. I'm new to the channel but I've watched all your videos so far. I am so so greatful to you, you have gave me so much motivation. I'm in the middle of 3 houses at the moment. Long story! We've had months to move and I just couldn't get everything packed up. My house is like yours at the start of these messy videos. Piles everywhere. Thanks to you, I am now making progress. 8yrs in this family home with my 4 kids. Unbelievable how much stuff I have amassed! Most if it not needed. My new house is gonna be so bare. Each kid's gonna have their own room in our new home. I'm so excited to of found your channel before I moved house. Thank you again Laura. ♥️ xxx

I hate to say anything but you probably shouldn't shop for a project until you've totally completed one. So much accumulation piled up (and money spent) for "future" projects. That's gotta be overwhelming and so much pressure on you. It comes out of concern.

I really enjoy your videos. You’re really great at organising however I feel like you need to purge at least 50% of your stuff. It’s just so much! This will stop you from having to constantly shuffle stuff around from room to room. The less stuff you have the less you need to organise.

I definitely do the box/bin bag up method. (Possibly shows I have too many items- highly likely) but For those with neurodivergence issues like myself, It’s helpful to label those boxes that you need to get out of the way for the time being, or use clear bins. Try to also use a theme like home decor, paper, fragrances whatever so if you need an item you packed up for the mean time you know which box to look in and you’re not scrambling and are “oh crap where is that blah blah” just remember to set time to go through those boxes. Don’t make them dead bins!

I saw your baby mattress and thought I'd let your readers know....if you have multiple dogs or a larger dog a baby mattress makes a GREAT dog bed. I bought one 30 years ago. I covered with heavy duty plastic and sealed with duct tape. To cover it I bought a twin size comforter and made an envelope (like a sleeping bag) to slide the mattress into and put ties on the end. It's comfortable, warm and cozy for the dogs (my cats liked it, too). The cover slips off for washing. One mattress has lasted thru 5 dogs and 30 years. Full disclosure: I've always adopted dogs at least a year old, so don't know how would last with young chewers. The mattress even worked as a stretcher when our 98 lb german shepherd couldn't walk.

From an all-American mom-now-granma who was sucked along the materialism path...in sorting, if we would start with getting rid of things made in China, that's an easy, satisfying start. When my kids were young, I made a list of "50 things a home's gotta have" and I have never forgotten that list though I may stray. I still use it as a guide and it's very freeing. We do not have to be under the spell of consumerism. Use the saved money to help someone in need! Let's keep it simple.

Thank you for making these videos. I've watched many vids in the pass. The ones you create I can relate to its never ending. And with consistent family visits it's hard to host and keep a house clean especially when other kids come over the messes can pile up. I've been having my kids help but forcefully by taking gaming controllers away. It sucks to do that but it's just so much clutter the stress levels and anxiety I get are not fun to deal with and I don't like who I am when I'm overwhelmed 🙃 so watching your videos has been super helpful almost like having a friend with me while I clean or build up courage to tackle a cluttered spot in my house. Thank you!!

You are incredible, you are so determined and just keep going back too it again and again if it's needed. I wonder if you would benefit from a corner somewhere that isn't front and centre in your home to hold all the project items you have for other areas in the home. Then all those pieces can go straight there instead of filling up your dinning room or front room. I have a tiny house, two rooms downstairs one of which is the kitchen and two bedrooms upstairs. So l have to have spaces like the living room that is never to be used to store anything that doesn't live in there, or my whole house could easily look a huge unorganized mess in no time at all. Love your channel. 😊💕

I am trying to get inspired but the problem come with making decisions of what to do with the things I don't know what to do. They are not a clear donate, definitely not trash..ugh....But I understand that when we have more that we can handle we do not own those things, those things own us..and we are stronger that all that crap, aren't we?!

Just found your videos. I want to "Thank you" for them as I have been struggling with things. We know people have been going through things to and wanted to use our story to also inspire others. We moved to a small town from a big city. We moved in with his elderly parents and my brother. Merged two houses into one. The 2 car garage basically gave me space for my office & crafting. The first year his parents were pretty much self sufficient, in their early eighties. Mom & Dad end up having a series of health issues. So I stopped everything to take care of them (that was the plan). Mom passed shortly after that (now about 2 1/2 yrs ago), dad just passed 2 months ago. Because of all of the hospice care, the merged six dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens and a garden I've been extremely exhausted. Now decluttering, no space to put stuff for a garage sale so as I've been going through the cabinets, closets, changing rooms around and more, we have just been donating to different places. Again, thank you for your inspiration and letting us know that we are not alone in our battles. Our struggles are only for a season 💕 we've got this. God bless all y'all 🤠.

One helpful tip I heard about boxing stuff to sort later was to separate any paper,mail,etc. to one specific box. Then when you are watching tv,sort a few papers during the commercials. It really works.
@ikrobiee
@ikrobiee Жыл бұрын
The hardest part of decluttering is actually removing it from your home for good. A lot of people get stuck moving clutter from room to room instead of donating/trashing it. It seems like you purchase a lot, which is the part of the cycle to break.

Even with life challenges, my own life challenges is restarting work and now with two kids and keeping the house clean but we're still decluttering too, and changing furniture, we put our two little boys into a bunk bed. So had recently had extra recycling that needed to be sorted out. But working on it all, catching up with everything, and I am finding random stuff in random cupboards still occasionally which is stuff that is leaving the house with time and making our life easier, 😀

This is the first home I’ve seen that looks like mines. When a room gets put together everything gets put in another room and then that room becomes a disaster! I have so many mini projects; returns, donations etc. I’m taking my time and trying to do it in a 2 weeks span.

In the moment I was like darn we’re not getting to see the declutter yet, but then I was like “what do I usually do?” Then I was like yea I usually remove the trash, put things in boxes, and then tackle like things. It’s now August and I’m so ready for fall! Thank you for motivating me to work on the spaces I have left to collect and die😂♥️

Film the room makeovers. Those are inspiring and fun. I love to see how people decorate. With their on style and not a trend.

This is amazing! I love the idea of the plant shelves. I'm new to live plants in the home and have to say it's very calming xx

Hi from the UK. i totally can relate with your vlog. i have no idea where or even how to start :( its so bad. i desperately want my house declutter free and minimal and would love to decorate too as the entire house just looks so awful. i would love a mini palace but just know it will never happen as i cannot deal with the huge mess. what with working, taking care of of my 8 year old as well as normal mum and wife duties i am just so tiered all the time bot to mention the massive depression i suffer with. i feel like i am in hell to be honest. Thank you for sharing you life lovely. may god bless you xxxxxx

Confession... I've only been to IKEA once and I was a kid! This mama needs a trip to IKEA. I want bookshelves like yours either side of my fireplace.🤣 storage is key to this chaotic real mama life. I hate minimalism. I love stuff!!

Woooooooo! Good job, mama! Goodness!😃 I have a room in my basement that looked WORSE than the “before” pics! It looks better now but nowhere even close to your “after” shots. I’m still chipping away at it. I threw away sooooooo much stuff it’s insane! Now it’s WAY better, but not where I want it. I’m trying to get it all done before school officially starts. Prayerfully, I’ll get it all DONE! ✅✅✅
