My guess is Autism not bipolar. People burn us out. Women are better at masking there symptoms and if you have a child with autism it’s more likely to be what they have. I have just discovered I’m autism. I have ocd, dyslexia, anxiety, and depression. I find the anxiety and depression comes in waves. The busier I am the more likely I’m to burn out and have higher anxiety and depression. I also struggle with adrenal fatigue. Iv been researching autism in adults and people often get misdiagnosed with bipolar, anxiety, depression or ocd. Maybe that’s why meds don’t work. It’s not the real issue there’s a bigger umbrella. Lots of love❤️

I agree with this. I have done a lot of research myself bc of my son who struggles with social anxiety and found I resonate with autism and I am working on being tested..

@@T_C158 I hope you find someone. I haven’t looked in my area. A few weeks ago it was a light switch and everything made sense. Why always feel different and people don’t take me seriously because they don’t understand me. I have gotten so many comments how well I do with parenting my autistic son and that’s because I understand him. I just realized how much in the past year I used him as a crutch. I would say it’s to much for him when it was to much for both of us. They say a lot of moms end up diagnosing themselves after having a child with ASD. Males have a stronger way of showing signs and females are good at covering up the signs.

@@elle_nolt so true. I have to travel to the next state over since no one in Vermont does it for adults. I struggle with phones calls. So I haven’t had the courage to call yet. I look at you and saw myself in my 30s and then a friend of mine asked me two questions.. Who got those toys out? and Why are there so many? Thing is you have turned yourself into the maid and stripped yourself of your own identity .. It’s hard to hear, but small wonder you are depressed, stressed and worn out. If you don’t get the toy out, you don’t put it away. Three toys per child and the rest goes in the attic or donated. You don’t MAKE the kids do it..if they don’t the natural consequence is lose the toy for a week. Your plate is your plate, not a platter. If he says he’s hungry: one he isn’t going to starve while you finish your plate..or fix him his own plate from the fridge.. I’m telling you from personal experience, if you want to be respected, now is the time to start..you can hate me, or dismiss what I say, but you will come to regret it..it took me a long time to stop being the maid, but the day I started my life got better..I quit being depressed, removing toys freed the home and the girls learned very quickly how to put the first toy away before getting another and they were 3 and 4 when they learned it! And for me at 8 p.m. the girls were in bed or in their room and my husband and I had two hours on our own..think about it

Hey! I just wanted to let you know, as someone diagnosed with bipolar 2, taking antidepressants when bipolar is actually super likely to cause adverse reactions. I understand hesitation with meds. I’m the same way. A mood stabilizer like topamax would NOT cause those feelings as it isn’t an antidepressant. Also, it was helpful and convenient that a side effect was weight loss. Good luck on your journey!

Once I was prescribed latuda and then Vraylar for my bipolar disorder it has so positively changed my life, saved my marriage, the list goes on and on! I would encourage you to go and see a specialist who can clearly identify what’s going on and place you on the proper treatment plan!

Hey Mama! New subscriber here. I've gone back and watched a few of your previous videos. Based on what I've seen so far, you're minimalist journey will greatly help with your level of depression as your home becomes less cluttered. You will also be doing self care as you find yourself cleaning less because you have less clutter! I say this with love, the number of toys that your children have in the living room consumes most of the space. You can pull half and place them in tubs in the garage. (Do this while the kids are asleep) In a month's time pull out the tub and place the current toys in the tub and store it. It will be like Christmas for the kids when they see the "new" toys appear each month.

Love your videos. I’m 67 and I have struggled for years with depression. I have been getting B-12 shots once a month now. It’s been about 5 months now getting them, and I have to be honest, they have made a world of difference for me. I had a complete knee replacement a year ago, then had my other knee replaced in February, and I really hit a walk of completely no energy and anxiety. Since I’ve been getting the B-12 shots I have so much more energy and it’s amazing how they are helping at my anxiety and depression. I hope this might help someone out there. Check with your doctor. They really do help. Love you sweetie.😁❤️

I feel so much better, but I do have a few side effects. I decided the side effects are worth suffering through because generally I feel so much better. I know it’s different for everyone, but I was sorry to hear you are completely against taking prescribed medication. It took trying several med combos before the doctor found the right combo to help me. I really do feel so much better on the meds than I did not taking anything & I have learned to deal with the side effects. Thanks for your honesty and I appreciate your videos.

Love the motivation!!! So, I was originally diagnosed with severe anxiety, panic attacks, depression and cptsd. Probably for about 15 years, those were my diagnosis's. Nothing was helping me, anti depressants/anti anxiety medications made it worse. It became so unbearable I sought out a psychiatrist who also specialized in diagnosing. ( I was starting to think Autism/Adhd) I went through a crazy long set of tests and was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 (longer boughts of depression, followed my episodes of mania. Bipolar 1 doesn't suffer as badly from depression and has full blown mania, having to have such terrible episodes they are hospitalized.) I also had a comorbid diagnosis of borderline personality, ADHD and cptsd. It has explained EVERYTHING that I couldn't explain was wrong with me since I was a child!!! I finally got on medications and they have truly saved my life. (I too was one who hated medications after none worked etc.) I got a psychiatrist and my mood is far more stabilized, I'm able to stay motivated and focused, where before I struggled to do anything. Would sit and think about everything I needed to clean and do, yet I just physically could not make myself get up to do anything. Feeling better than I have in my whole life now! My suggestion would be to definitely see if you can get a diagnosis. Even if you opt to not take medications (I truly now am an advocate as no matter what I tried, did or took holistaclly worked) , there are so many books out there that can help! I hope I didn't ramble too much and I gave some helpful advice! :)

Please don't self-diagnose!!!! I speak from experience - see a professional!!! Even if you don't want to take prescription drugs, a professional diagnosis "takes out the guess work" and ALL the "what if's" that can just exasperated us. A good medical professional has more tools than a prescription pad - they can point you to other way to cope...understanding what you're dealing with is half the battle...

This looks like a typical ADHD situation. I have ADHD and it's almost impossible to be motivated on under-active days. But on hyperactive days WOW! There's no stopping me 😁 Watching you clean your house in these stages is SO addictive and also SO motivating. I must just ask though, why doesn't your husband help you out with the cleaning now and again? If he knows how you struggle with this stuff, surely he should be sympathetic? I also remember you saying that he 'told you off' for cleaning one room when you should have been cleaning a different one'? (I'm paraphrasing, of course.) All of us that have mental difficulties need a bit of support in our lives sometimes and that's necessary to be able to cope with those problems. A problem shared is a problem halved, springs to mind.. ❤

But I do like hearing about you & watch you talk about cleaning & 😏decluttering etc. I do need to clean & declutter & organize my sewing craft room and which I will do soon. I got some bins & containers etc to help make it possible. I love sewing & scrapbooking. So I need to make my room for sewing & crafting! I just have to be careful & not fall or my hips will pop out of there socket & that hurts extremely bad. I have to go the hospital to have it put back in. 😪 I also have shoulder replacements, knee replacements beside my hips replacements. So I really need 😩 to be careful getting up & down & walking or I'll fall. But I can sit in my room & go through things that's easier for me. I used to clean like you do now, when my kids were little & there 4, 2 boys & 2 girls. So I understand! I think I 🤔 might of had bipolar & depression etc back then, When I think about it 🤔. So you do inspire me. Thanks 😊 so much. I'll get it done soon. God Bless! ♥️😉

I have BAD depression and anxiety. My kids KNOW how to clean. They will pick up their toys. But, when I’m doing a HUGE clean up, I don’t let my kids do stuff. Because I crank the music up and just clean and get lost. Every now and then I’ll include them. But most of the time they are playing in their rooms or watching tv. If I need their help. They are there. I was diagnosed with bipolar one. It sucks. But I use uh natural things and coping skills to deal with it. Stay strong momma. We do got this.

so motivating!! I can attest to the cortisol levels in a clean home. I went from depressive/manic to calm and happy after getting real with being minimal. So easy to clean, not a lot of toys to clean up etc. We have a short life to live, and we dont get any days or time back. We deserve to be the best versions of ourselves and to celebrate life!! Keep going Mama, keep getting rid of things, you will feel so good the more hard on it you become. Especially kids toys. So hard to get rid of them but kids are resilient and imaginative and function better in a clean and simple space.

Hi Laura. I have to say that your videos have helped when I’ve been feeling particularly low but have needed to offer at least a reasonable ‘facade’ to family and visitors…. As I said previously, often 5minutes of cleaning can lead into ten and then fifteen minutes, which in turn makes you feel that you’ve accomplished something. Depression and anxiety can be so debilitating and I applaud you for these videos. Yes, please consider doing a sit down video, I’m sure many of us would find it helpful. You are so straightforward and relatable. Have a wonderful day.

I completely feel you on the medications. I tried a new med and it gave me suicidal thoughts that landed me in the hospital because I was terrified! I will never trust a mental health doctor ever again. I begged to get back on the meds I was on before that and it took a long time to feel like myself again. Gah I'm never trying new meds again that are for depression. Heck no! I also hear ya on the kids, you clean up, turn around and it's messy again lol

I relate to you so much. I go through the same cycle of feeling good and then suddenly not having any energy, I call it hitting a brick wall. I'm pretty sure for me it's adrenal gland fatigue, but then again bipolar runs in my family, while it would be interesting to know I don't plan on getting a formal diagnosis because like you I won't take prescription meds, I always have the worst reaction possible. I totally feel you about getting kids to help, it's my heart's desire to teach my kids to clean up and take care of themselves and when I'm in a good place I do that but like you said, sometimes Mama's just not there. When I feel myself slipping into the dark pit micromanaging my kids and trying to get them to help out is the quickest way to drain the last little bit of energy I have.

My house is messy & cluttered- My kids are not! My kids are neat & borderline minimalists. Anyway.... good on you for staying away from psych meds & diagnosis. Find doctor that does Somatic therapy. Check out Dr Peter Breggin. His books & videos. He exposed the psych drug treatment industry & suicide when put on these drugs

When I'm going thru my anxiety and depression..I don't want anyone around me. I just need to focus. When my kids were little I'd get them a drink, a snack and set up within activity and or movie and then I could get some time to focus without kids running around asking a million questions and messing up what I just cleaned. As they became big kids I'd put in my earbuds and say unless you are broken, bleeding or the house is burning down.... leave me alone to get my cleaning done. Lol

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this before but when people who are bipolar are misdiagnosed with unipolar depression, anti-depressants can have really bad results. It’s actually a sign that any healthcare professionals should be looking for when treating depression. I will say I was diagnosed with bipolar II this year and SSRIs were terrible for me. I use a mood stabilizer now (what people with bipolar take) and it’s helped a lot. I know you said you don’t want to try medications again, but it’s worth noting that your care plan may have been for the wrong diagnosis. Thanks for your motivation videos.

I wish I knew how to DM you! I'm a 62yo version of you & discovered your channel. I'm your biggest cheerleader & you have a lot of wisdom! I just got off psych meds after being on them for 25 years. I've had appts 2x week with a psychiatrist that helps people wean off meds, since March 2020. They are dangerous to get off of so kudos to you for not getting on them. The mind body connection is real. James Gordon wrote the books "Unstuck" & "Transforming Trauma" & goes into details on different things, to live with or alleviate depression & anxiety. They are great handbooks on how to treat depression/anxiety/PTSD,etc. (I've experienced it all) Breathing, mindfulness, journaling, art, sense of humor, friendships, food, etc. so many tools I didn't use "correctly". It's all about life. Everything is a tool, but we don't always know how to use them correctly. The clutter in my house & my response to it, reflects my mental health. I've known this & you are the most relatable to me, of all the "decluttering" videos.
