The Nagas had practiced Head hunting When they followed Animism ,but after the Coming of Christianity they stopped this evil practice .During thoses days one village fight with another village with mutual agreement or One Village or group attacked other tribe .They Believed that if they stopped head hunting then Epidemics will befall upon them .Those placess where Christianity reached first had Stopped this evil practice Some Tribes had stopped Head hunting before 1900 and for some especially in the Eastern part of Nagaland Eastern Nagas they continue head hunting till 1970s. It's very sad to see some people think that the Nagas still practice this and think Nagas are Savage Don't be scared come to Nagaland now forget about head hunting ,even hunting has banned in almost every villages in Nagaland.

Yes because in during medieval time , the nagas and Ahoms trade each others so that the naga people need to learn Assamese to communicate with Ahoms and other Assamese people and then they became able to talk in little bit Assamese with their naga accent and in during in the british era this particular language becomes nagamese for the Naga people

Head hunters are hardly alive in today's generation. Yes nagas are known headhunting and warrior tribe but,I don't think they haunted the heads. They are just goangpura the village administration . You got punked by those goangpuras that they haunted the heads. M sure their for Father's might have haunted but not them. Just my opinion.
