THUMB TRIGGER ISSUES - READ THIS - my boy ended up throwing his controller against the wall and the thumb trigger wouldn't work no more - SO with this vid I was able to tear it open and fix it - FOR INFO - there is a small magnet that moves closer to a sensor the more you push the thumb down, if the magnet isnt flat (which can easily be thrown out of place if you knock it) the thumb trigger doesn't go full range, I slipped in some tweezers and straightened it out flat and it now works!!!!! Great Vid.

IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ: If none of these things work, CHECK THE INSIDE OF THE CONTROLLER FOR CORROSION. Sometimes batteries suck, especially if they're cheap. In my case, I hadn't used my headset for a few months and the controllers sat unused. So when I changed the batteries, I thought my right controller was broken because it was still dead. If there's corrosion on the silver button(s) where the batteries connect, the battery will not make contact, even if it's brand new. If the button looks "rusty" or feels rough, it's got corrosion on it. Whatever you do, DO NOT use household cleaners, soap, or caustic chemicals on it. Get a Q-tip, put a little alcohol on it (I cut mine with water), and clean the connection area until it's smooth, bright and shiny. If it doesn't work at first, un-pair and re-pair the controller again. BTW, if this was the problem and you don't think you'll be using your headset for awhile, it's a good idea to remove the batteries from the controllers until you're ready to play again to keep this from happening. No batteries = no corrosion. 🙂

Buddy for 3 weeks iv had issues with controller jumping about drifting I seen your video 3 weeks ago and I skipped the bit with the battery loose inside the controller and add paper because I thought that's silly guess what I went through my usual blow on controller sticks to see if it would stop drifting and moving and shaking controller and then heard the battery move about , it was the loose battery all this time lol that's wat I get for skipping that part of your video because it sounded silly lol

If I were to skip the step where you turn off the headset completely at 3:15, would that stop this fix from working? I am asking, because I am just about to send back a Quest Pro where the right controller cannot be made to pair with the headset at all. I have tried all sorts of fixes, unpaired the controller (not turned off the headset) and tried re-pairing it. I managed to do this with the left controller, but not with the right controller, which continues to be defective... They are charged of course, and the controller does enter pairing mode (leds flash differently, and there is a slight vibration after 4 seconds when pressing the two buttons). Still, the thing refuses to work properly.

Not unless Meta fixed that catastrophic oversight recently. I hated on the Meta tech support people for not making it possible to pair the headset and controllers using a plain old computer. Especially since my headset wouldn't pair with my iPhone when I factory reset it. They suggested I buy a new phone. The Quest is an Android device and it required an Android phone to fix it. Fortunately, I had a cheap Kindle fire tablet ($40) lying around, and after two months of haggling with Meta, it set up right away with the Meta app on the Kindle Fire.

A piece of electrical tape on the inside underneath the battery works a lot better and you don’t have to worry about toilet paper. You just wanna maintain that snug fit because I had a problem with my quest 2, Plus you don’t have to keep fitting the toilet paper around it if you use electrical tape just a tiny piece and you’re good.

This is about the batteries in the controllers, not the headset. If you are using rechargeable AA batteries in the controllers and have this issue just remove them for 5 minutes and then put them in again.

1: They prolly have rechargeable batteries. Change the batteries, and put good quality non rechargeable in them like Energizer or Duracell AA batteries. I don't recommend rechargeable batteries for these controllers unfortunately. 2: Go to the Q3 menu using your hands, go to Devices, and then Quest Controllers. Repair them. Follow the tutorial. They will work again 100% sure.
