And they are both true Mixed reality headsets with VR and AR and the mix between rather equally I might add. Like the main differecne is matreal ciost and power... but like you said as of mnow the Vision poor can't use what it has... Like it can bearly do stuff AR galsses can't and those are just displays on you face.

By the time Apple has a compelling software library for people to buy it, they will likely be releasing a Vision Pro 2 and early adopters will likely need to upgrade.

The vision pro is way to expensive for common people to use and doesnt have software that takes full advantage of ar/vr. But atleast it has a proper display and a proper os to run 90% of apps u use on ur laptops and phones . Meta doesnt support those apps and the apps they support dont run well cause they dont have a powerful enough chip for that. Yes it has the chip of a flagship android which is great for a phone but for a headset especially mixed reality headset which has to process everything its seeing through camera at all times of use while also running all the apps which aren’t particularly well optimised for meta . Also the ui is trash like they spent years and made ui equal to childrens game graphics. Like my baby brothers abc app has better graphics and visuals compared to their ui . Also dont even talk about ar cause it has very mediocre camera quality and mediocre display quality so rhe ar experience is not great for more than a few minutes. Also wwdc is only a couple months away so i am sure people would have developed a good amount of software for vision os already considering it was available since last years june

This. been working in VR for years before this was even shown at WWDC. With passthrough for hands/keyboard, multiple screens, and the ability to do so in any steam game. Vision pro won't allow you to work on your mbp in Elite Dangerous. But it's going to be some kind of status symbol, I guess. Sigh

@@theflippingcoin975 only in standard AR, and that doesn't count, that's the basic functionality everyone offers, you can't just pull a random VR game (e.g. Elite Dangerous) and work while immersed in there. The only easy way to do so will be with STEAMVR/Quest 2-3-pro headsets. With Apple's walled garden that will be quite impossible.

indeed however if you are looking at mixed reality the quality of the cameras from the quest 3 are on a different level then the Vision Pro so I think when it comes to productivity in vr meta is great but if you want to have the best MR experience out there then I think Apple Vision Pro is a good but expensive option

I bought into the Immersed Visor - it supports the Open XR standard, and will connect to any PC through Immersed's app. It's lightweight and pretty awesome and I look forward to what developers like me will be able to do to bring an app store and PC gaming to it. Though I strongly considered the Bigscreen Beyond or just something like the XReal Air glasses. I think Apple was backward thinking on this one. The future of Spacial computing is not something heavy and socially awkward. It's something you can wear at a coffee shop and feel comfortable in. It's something you can wear at home for hours without the extra weight on your head. Apple just improved on Meta's design, put a very limited walled garden around it, and charged a premium.

I have no idea why someone would use Vision Pro if they can do everything it does on a computer with much more convenience. Who would watch movies/sports by themselves on a $3500 device when they can get a large TV where friends/family can watch too?

This is one of the things I realised about VR. I used my Quest a lot more before getting married, but afterwards I rarely use it now. It just isolates me from the rest of my family. Maybe for occasional gaming these headsets make sense, but not to accompany daily activities.

There are way better options for gaming vr compared to quest. Vr gameds prefer ps vr or pc vr headsets. Very few vr gamers go for quest if they can afford something better

As my considerable investment in my gen 1 HTC Vive continues to collect dust and depreciate below waste basket deposit value, I'm considering burning more cash on a new dust collector. I've used the Meta Quest and was thoroughly impressed with its abilities. I do see some room for improvement. I'm just curious as to how long it will be before this tech moves to next gen with some form of AI integration. Should I remain on the fence until that happens...... well... $500 isn't a bad deal and I can chip that off my Chick Fil A budget. So in my case the price would definitely be a determining factor. Meta 3.

Bro I think that you described the Quest wrong as it focuses more on Mixed Reality with the Quest 3 the Quest 2 focuses more on VR bro as I have a Quest 3 and all I play is Mixed Reality games and I use alot of Mixed Reality apps and I never play VR games on it as I have the Playstation VR2 for that percific purpose because it has some of the best graphics in VR and can rival PCVR

well the Apple Vision Pro is superior in terms of hardware power and visuals, but the vision pro may not support all of the VR games we want and Vision Pro may not support wireless controllers like the Quest 3 controllers, etc. I would love for Apple Vision Pro to support wireless controllers, so we could use the Quest 3 controllers with an Apple Vision Pro. And for the vision pro gives us the choice to download and play games and apps off of the Meta Quest store, not just a few apple Apple-approved VR games but all of the VR games we can get on the meta quest store.

I think you mean the quest pro because there is no quest pro 2 yet but the reason why I compare them is because these are the most recent headsets from each company and I also mention the huge price difference. I say the quest 3 because I have a 75 inch television, I can also watch movies on my quest 3 but I rather watch tv on my actual tv . I see what apple vision pro is trying to do but you only get 2 hours , you can’t make a device a work horse with just 2 hours of use . I rather use my quest 3 for gaming or exploring the meta verse because it’s like I’m traveling or in a bowling alley or pool hall . Use my MacBook Pro producing , editing footage , graphics designing , etc because sometimes editing short films for people takes 7 hours.

Haha, Apple Vision Pro is not an upgrade, since it has no controllers, has almost no games, have heard it is uncomfortable to wear, and you have to carry around an external battery. Apple Vision Pro is not refined since it is Apple's entry into VR/AR, and so it is just a public prototype, not a device for the regular consumer. Apple Vision Pro is not for VR users; it is just a status symbol for wealthy Apple fans. The best VR/AR headset now, and likely for a long time to come is the Meta Quest 3.
