I genuinely hope that this video will age well in the future 🙏 I mainly pull characters based on their design, and despite knowing how much of a welfare unit Caesar is, I have decided not to pull for her. I may suffer for this decision in the future, but so far I have been able to clear all content at S rank, so I'll simply enjoy it while it last.

One of the things I love to laugh at is seeing legacy mihoyo creators checking out Shiyu nodes and promptly getting a haymaker to the face and exploding. One thing I am more curious about is seeing how far future characters go with for Unique Mechanics, since it seems like those will determine how far power creep goes and the future meta. But right now? The thing i appreciate the most is how the launch characters are just raw brawlers with gimmicks built into their controls instead of into a separate gauge, like Anby's Core Passive, Billy's Crouching Shot, Lycaon's BA Charged Attacks, and Ben's Parry Special. It's simple, and yeah there's a lot of room for new Agents to supersede them, but at the same time, the power floor feels so much higher than Wind Traveler and Destruction Trailblazer. Like with Diluc, might not be the strongest, but with the higher baseline of combat difficulty compared to the other two titles, they are so comfy to just play.

I agree with this, using Billy is not fun at all and is torturous, we need the meta char such as Jane Doe to make our gameplay much easier and enjoyable, we just trying to complete Shiyu Defense so we can feel satisfy and close the game. We are just casual average skilled players. P/S: I like the character Billy very much

I'm somewhat a sweaty player and yes, with the same disk and same w-engine, Jane Doe performs VERY Well compared to Piper, her attacks are very slow and you need to stack 30 power to maximize damage, despite me liking Piper more than Jane Doe 😢

@@FeixiaoLiaoPiper with Caesar is pretty much meta right now, she can get pretty close to Jane if you have her at high enough mindscape+her sig engine, and she’s fairly easy to use now because of thick shield. Though you need a little bit more skill to use Piper than Jane.

I don’t understand how i fell in love with this game so much but i did. That said, i would‘ve 100% agree with the sentiment meta doesn’t matter until i started playing Jane Doe. I am a Corrin Chan main and Grace simp with a highly invested Corrin team and fully built grace. But Jane Doe literally breaks the game. She can tackle any content even while being at sever disadvantaged, low investment and still easily clear faster than i can comprehend. Then once i started fully building and understanding her kit and started learning to play more efficiently (even though i’m far from mastering her) she single handedly made me realize that characters have their limits. I’ve been trying even harder to master Corrin and Grace, my favorites, but their limits become all the more apparent when i switch back to Jane who has joined the ranks of my favorite characters to play. I’ve learned characters have limits but as of version 1.2, Jane Doe breaks the game as in she has none. Maybe she will in later version updates but then that would just further hammer in that characters have their limits.

There are a few things you should note. You may not be using THE best corin team rn. She's a burst DPS and can run in a similar team as Zhuyuan, with the best possible setup being Qingyi + Caesar. Grace does NOT have a good team at all. Shock/corruption cannot function in non disorder teams atm if you are looking to reach their 'limit'. Which will be raised by Burnice. Also current environment are extremely pro anomaly because of Jane being just release. Her performance in the current patch is not an good indication of her actual power. And lastly while I mention META as a whole will not matter, the Individual Meta residing within each character, whether be rotation, or team building DOES matter. Some character can have multiple playstyles and each playstyles can also have their own meta.

@@SteamedBunX-ZZZ Yea grace and corrin require a lot to make them shine which i understand and love them despite that. I use corrin in a burst setup using Lyacon Nicole cause corrins dps comes from the stun state. Her core team bonus provides more damage on stun targets and i have a high crit/crit dmg ratio. I skipped Qingyi and Caesar to save and was blessed with lyacon instead. Corrin is a terrible on fielder but if you can maximize and finish rotations during stun state, you can melt targets in 1, 2 or 3 stuns. I’m still practicing and trying to min max things and testing different strategies with this team. I was blessed with grace only moments into the game and she has many different play styles even though her “Best” team has yet to arrive. On field grace is viable under very strict and certain conditions while disorder will be more viable with burnice. However, shock dps can only be triggered via hits landed on target. Upon personal testing, shock does last 10 seconds but if you fail to hit them, your shock is wasted. Certain characters can only trigger 5 or 6 shocks and some can trigger 7 or 8. However, that is if you hit the target consistently. With no hits, your shock is wasted and i don’t think there is an on field character who can get all 10 shock procs. Anything less than 7 procs is dead dps. The reason i say Jane breaks the game is because anomaly damage is the only damage that ignores the stun state. Jane literally ignores an entire game mechanic that many other characters need to take advantage of in order to deal maximum dps. Then you have assault damage that deals heavy front loaded damage compared to Graces shock damage that tanks if you don’t get either disorder or get 7 shock procs or more. Not to mention right now Jane is the only character that has potentially infinite invulnerability which i tested against ninevah. Her dodge attack in passion state makes you invulnerable while dealing damage. Every time you dodge you gain passion back and she can dodge 3 times in a row before a short dodge cd. But if you pace dodges and dodge attacks, you won’t go into dodge cooldown and can have infinite passion state and take advantage of infinite invulnerability state agains enemies with nonstop attacks like ninevah. Not to mention Jane only gets stronger with her teammates. Anomaly has a build up decay meaning that the longer the fight takes, the longer it takes until the next anomaly. With Seth, you can prolong how long it takes to reach that point by reducing anomaly resistance. Then by buffing janes damage she can deal more dps. Jane is an on fielder that can deal all her front loaded damage on her own without the need for teammate intervention. Unless mihoyo nerfs how much anomaly ignores stun state, Jane will always be strong. Even if shiyu defense weather nerfs assault damage, or anomaly build up, she just needs seth and lucy or whatever other support that comes out and can circumvent the nerfs entirely. Unless they create enemies that take zero physical or zero assault/anomaly dmg, she will still be viable. Plus most standard characters have some sort of physical damage in their move set which is why i think that’ll be unlikely. This is why i think she breaks the game.

I agree. I hate people who think they can't play the game without following meta or not pull their fav character just because a lot of people say they're bad. I play whoever and if they look good or I fuck with their personality, I'D GLADLY play the hell out of them despite what others say. I skipped on Zhu's banner because I didn't like her playstyle despite her being an AMAZING dps or even Jane since I have piper almost maxed out. I don't need another physical anomaly for a while.

With all these bait FOMO vids of needed to pick out the latest characters because of new enemies with hire damage, it's how use your character and goofy gimmicks attached to them. Metas are only a thing when it comes to verus competition which I don't see this game doing anytime soon.

While the subjective preference of gameplay and player skill are valid arguments (the ZZZ characters and MH weapons comparison is correct), the comparison to Monster Hunter is apples and oranges to a large degree for one glaring reason that gets consistently ignored but is by far the most prevalent reason why meta doesn't matter in ZZZ: Monster Hunter endgame (even some fights prior) is actually difficult. Where ZZZs average difficulty is easy, Monster Hunter is hard. Where ZZZ is at its hardest at somewhere inbetween normal and hard (Hollow Zero Intensity 11, Disputed Node 8), Monster Hunter is ultra nightmare on the difficult encounters (even to above average players). In Monster Hunter as an average player you often invest 10 to 25 minutes per mission (pre completed endgame build). If you cart, you get the punishment of having to run back and if you cart too much, you fail the mission, having effectively wasted your time in terms of progression. In ZZZ, even in Hollow Zero high intensity, you can _always_ and _indefinitely_ with no drawbacks restart the current combat section (not the whole mission), even prior to getting wiped just because you didn't like that extra pixel of health you lost right in the beginning. ZZZ is beatable on all A Ranks. Not just beatable, but you can consistently S Rank all content if you build your A Ranks properly. In Monster Hunter, speedrunning is more of a niche activity and a secondary or even tertiary factor. What matters by far the most is beating content at all. In ZZZ, the focus on deciding which character is better or worse objectively seems to be almost entirely focused on squeezing out a couple seconds per seconds or minute long fights, even if you don't actually gain anything from this. You S Rank anyway and beating content faster to farm more effectively which is an argument in Monster Hunter largely doesn't apply in ZZZ, because next to everything is time and/or energy gated. So saving a couple seconds barely accumulates, whereas in Monster Hunter, saving 10% per 15 minute mission or farming 3 minute endgame missions and saving 30 seconds _does_ matter due to actually doing hundreds or thousands of runs. This means that while in MH, clear speed matters more, people care less. And in ZZZ, where clear speed is effectively irrelevant unless you are absolutely abysmal at both macro (character builds) _and_ micro (combat gameplay) management, people somehow seem to care _alot_ about clear speed. The conclusion of all this isn't just that meta doesn't matter subjectively in ZZZ, but that it also doesn't matter _objectively._

I would love if Miyabi synergizes well with Lycaon, but that’s probably hoping for too much. I just hope Miyabi is a strong agent I can build around because I am one of the millions who have bought into the hype, even if she’s trash in meta I will be building her for the waifu value.

Well, Lycaon may be a good option, but I feel Lighter might be better depends. Lighter also has Ice Damage Up and Ice Resist down on his kit for some reason so I feel he might have been designed with Miyabi in mind.

I don't think it's an either or. Lycaon is the alternative, probably slightly weaker option that can be acquired "for free" when losing 50/50s. And for those who didn't get him prior, Lighter is the slightly stronger limited banner option. Pretty sure that's the idea the devs had in mind here. There's no reason to think either of them will "not work". Qingyi will probably work effectively just the same.

What I will say about Qingyi though is that how good she will be with Miyabi lies in how mucb fieldtime Miyabi needs. Qingyi is a fieldtime greedy character, which benefits DPS units thay rely on burst windows like Zhu Yuan or Corin. If Miyabi functions like them, and less like Ellen that wants long field time then I can see Qingyi being a good option.

The real meta is how much love you put in the game and the characters you choose! You don’t have to level up every character or get every sss character, but as a whale , I do have to say, having a solid 3 team with fully maxed out characters is absolutely gorgeous

Corin main since day one. The only limited agent I pulled for is Caesar because she works with Corin. I've been getting all S rank the past 2 Shiyu all before I got Caeser. Even in the ambush mode. So, I'm not really interested in meta, just making teams I enjoy playing.

@@tranceaddict11 she is doable but you'll mostly be using another on-field stunner unit with these faster/aggressive enemies (I use either Anby or Lycaon). I can't tell you how many times I've defensive assist with her and she'll miss her whole combo because the dude has side-stepped her. I love her too much to bench her but man sometimes...

I hope they add some sort of leaderboard reward thing but I hope the game stays like this. It's part of why I find it so fun and why I feel enticed to even roll for characters. The characters look fun and I think of all the ways I'LL want to play them and pair them and challenge my times and it makes me excited to play and keeps me enjoying it. This is my first gacha so idk how this all goes but I'm really like ZZZ right now. Favorite agent right now is tied between Zhu Yuan and Jane. When I first started playing and still somewhat now Anby and Billy are my goats. Hoping for good things out of this game. Good video.

Given exactly how this video was explained, I actually am good with my team 1 and team 2. Ellen, Lycaoan, Soukaku Jane, Seth, Qingyi All with their respective BIS. Needless to say, I find that it would make much sense to invest more in what you currently have rather than pulling for "meta" characters everytime a new one gets released mainly because of the following: 1.) Saving pulls for your current team 1 & 2 S rank DPS every reruns would make them far stronger than getting new ones and putting older ones in bench 2.) You can focus on min-maxing/perfecting disk substats down to the very last point(who's to say you might get +4 or +5 on a substat you want eventually? I mean, it does usually happen on HP%/DEF% LOL) 3. Character familiarity. You get used to their playstyle the more you play with them and also minmax every last bit of damage for what combo you think is best to execute.

I currently run Caesar with Nekomata and Jane. The meta can die. Jane is M2 with signature weapon, Nekomata is M1, with a maxed out Steel Cushion. Last Throne I did, I gave Jane WAY more field time, and despite M2, and at least twice as much time on field, she only came out 20% ahead of Nekomata on the run's damage. Knowing your character matters.

I am looking for Yanagi+Rina+Soukaku for a moment before Miyabi. For now, I still have skill issue with Rina as I can only trigger the switch when I use her energy, which is my skill issue, so the idea for me is for Yanagi to be electric dps instead of acting like Burnice. As I played Soukaku, she is fine for me, but for now, Soukaku is the only Section 6 character available, and the only ice character I have. Thus, I have no chance to play Soukaku, yet. For my gacha target, I want Yanagi, Miyabi, and Lycaon to complete my ideal setups. Only Lycaon that I can practice, and I only know some information about Yanagi, and very few about Miyabi. My ideal teams would be 1) Yanagi+Rina+Seth 2) Miyabi+Lycaon+Soukaku 3) Section 6/Miyabi+Yanagi+Soukaku 4)V.E./Rina+Lycaon+Corin

A very small thing ,but I don't think shock anomaly (Yanagi/grace) will be good in mono team. Atm disorder is the only good way to play DPS with fire/electric/ether anomaly (imho)

Saying Meta doesn't really matter, also saying mono Team isn't the best for her. It may not be recommended but you can play her in a mono team, because why not - should clear electric weak enemys with eas. In your dream Team (Miyabi, Yanagi, Soukaku) she works even better. Her kit is based on disorder damage. An ideal partner for her would be an äther anomaly off-field agent. Which maybe comes in 1.5 with the fraction virtual Idol. 6:35 I think this is the crux of it. ZZZ, along with Genshin only has "bare minimum to get full reward"; While in HI3, the landscape is evolving depending on which group you are ended up with. Sky is the limit. You are in RedLotus? There are bunch of long time players there, but they may not necessarily know how to micro-optimize their rotation to get the maximum possible score with their roster. But if you got into Nirvana bracket... don't expect knowing how to micro-optimize is enough to make you stay in that bracket. Some vertical investment on gacha units are also necessary. The folks here brush up their performance to frame perfect. There's no wasted hit or even evasion. Doing something for 20 frames means you're already losing that 1 point in the ranking.

I think meta only matters in a micro scale, within EACH agent, there is a meta. And that can also split into different playstyles. And I think it's better to find playstyles and agents you like first, than form the meta around them, instead of chasing the ever changing tierlists.

That would depends on people’s perception of meta, because some people like playing meta for comfort clear. I think this is very likely to happen someday, they might increase the number of floors in Shiyu defense like they did in Honkai star rail to have an excuse to increase enemy levels. By that time average players might need more firepower than free A rank characters, but as of now, it’s incredibly easy and i’m uncomfortable comparing it to Monster Hunter lol. and sure, skill actually matter in this game unlike HSR, where knowledge is 80% of the battle.

The points around 6:30 are the only two that matter: First, there is no competitive aspect in ZZZ at all. It's a single player game with no leaderboards or gated rewards. The meta only serves as a tool for players. Second, at no point in this game's lifespan will content be balanced around the power of limited agents at m2+. That means that if you like an offmeta unit enough, you can eventually get dupes and they will outscale all content in the game for its entire life. In Genshin Impact if you take Dehya (notoriously bad standard banner character) to c6 she will *demolish* every piece of non-gimmick content in Genshin **forever**. In Honkai Star Rail if you take Yanqing (notoriously bad standard banner character) to e6, he will likewise bulldoze all the content. These games are simply not designed to challenge accounts with vertical investment.

I got elllen and jane and my strategy is really just get one copy of limited characters im interested in, dont bother with signature engine unless I got lucky on main banner, and save poly as much as possible for future characters. As of now Im able to clear everything, but you're making me concerned with the future lol

fax, this is the only game that you don't even have to get the 'meta' units just to play better.. they're releasing characters to fit certain playstyle that players would want. and that's it, shiyu defense is easy if you got the character you want. hell you can even just zhu yan and jane for the entire game if you wanted to, you can beat the entire game or future contents with only those two teams. lol

I feel like it does just not to the same extent as turn based games. Sure, you can build a mid tier character *cough* s11 *cough* to be more useful, but it’s hard to match new limited characters and probably require a lot of resources too.

That's all true until we get shiyu 12. In hsr, people also cleared endgame with whatever they had built in the early patches. One year of powercreep and bulkier enemies later and non-meta characters are barely playable for average joe

While the prospect of potentially higher difficulty in future content is true, action combat is naturally much more lenient, whereas round based combat is missing that degree of reaction player skill component. And while it could be true that ZZZ might be amped up to Monster Hunter difficulty in future patches, this is something that can be tackled at that point and it will only start happening once we already get reruns. This means future proofing is also invalid at this point in time. Right now, it does hold true that meta is irrelevant and it will be that way for quite some time.

I really find hard to belive S agents can be fully power creep. Not only for the lack of a multiplayer preasure or game difficulty preasure. But because of the means of upgrading a character. Your avarage f2p light and medium spender isnt going to M6 + w-engine (unless you are Miyabi cultist) but the option is always open Dont like the last few characters? Well then Ellen and Zhu Yuan are back, now you can go for the W-engine and maybe some mindscapes. If i liked Grace more than Yanagi i wouldnt botter with Yanagi. If i didnt liked Lighter i would stick with Koleda, fuck even then i will find a place for Koleda. Even if people are claiming that Yanagi will have a perfect synergie with Burnice, if the game doesnt require that of you then it doesnt matter.

Disagree, meta is important as I am a bad player, I can't beat the game with Billy and I suck at the game, I need the meta char to have fun.

The most "Meta" team doesn't necessarily mean the easier to play. Sometimes an team could have INSANE damage ceiling, but also terrible damage floor when not used correctly.

Playing the meta is the definition of seeking out the most comfortable/easiest/highest win rate/lowest effort path, it is also the choice and agreement of majority of players, which once again you are the minority that disagree with it. To quote you, It is necessary means the “easiest team to play for with less effort”. To quote you, “insane dmg with highest ceiling otherwise” fits the definition of none meta. Probably your point or topic should have been “tier list don’t matter” instead of “meta don’t matter”.

Yes, I just tapped it. I do not charge Nicole's ex special during the burst as it would eat into the Zhuyuan burst window. However I did charge it while the boss was not stunned to build up more ether anomaly.

Im gonna bet zzz will follow hsr route in terms of meta like version 1 dps will be subpar compared to the version 2 dps, its a never ending cycle, but they can still clear just not as fast especially if they raise the hp in shiyu defense

it's easy to powercreep in hsr and it's more apparent and important there because it's a turn based game where stats matter more and you can't do dodges or s, or even parry.

@@goodietwoshoes7238 same thing here, they can easily release a dps of the same element and the newer dps will be better in terms of dealing damage, of course it wont happen right away at most around version 2 is where we will see the dps powerlevel increase

I see the point you are trying to make here but I hard disagree. Meta will always matter because your average player is not the one try hard reading every skill and min maxing every buff to reach a desired clear. Even your "bad rotation" on Zhu Yuan will absolutely crush any min maxxing you do on any standard 5 stars/4 stars, hence why you thought nekomata was underperforming until you paired her with a limited 5* sustain, Caeser. The game is a single player game so we must analize the definition of 'meta' with that in mind. To clear shiyu 17 without any limited characters right now you already have to have very good gear, way above average even, and the more limited characters you have, the easier it is to clear.

Meta kinda does tho. Meta comp requires less skill, while a lot of the stages has element weakness and resistance againts

I think the DPS you get out of getting comfortable with an agent team, and learning the in and out of their team will often supersede what a meta team can do (at least the more complex ones). Though if they release a character who's at their peak when you just press a button, that would be different 🧿

I feel like the crux of this video is just about how "matter/value" is defined. Like this video is 9 minutes to just say to say that playstyle fit is really what matters most for "having fun". And while I don't think that's directly untrue, you're imposing your own definition of fun as objective, which doesn't really make sense to do as the definition of fun is subjective for every person. For example, if someone has the most of fun being able to clear content as fast as possible as conveniently as possible, then you can't say the meta doesn't matter because the meta inherently objectively defines the best way to do that. If someone's main goal is to speedrun and they don't care about what character they're playing, the meta objectively defines which character is best for them and therefore very clearly matters in their case. For example, I value being able to get S rank on all of critical node, and though I could more effort into drives or skill, I find a lot of satisfaction is simply getting all the polychromes. I was given Nekomata M1 and her weapon for my first 3 five-stars. Ignoring the fact that I didn't have two teams, Nekomata objectively does less than Jane for the same effort of gameplay. I think that the meta definitely does matter in this case as Jane M0R0 would be able to help me more easily clear Critical Node than Nekomata M1R1. This fact objectively exists regardless of efforts can be made to even the playing field. I can say that I think the time spent evening the playing field could instead be used to make top meta characters even stronger, and I value time and thus the meta matters. All this to say. I think this video is mostly copium lol.

I never really bother with the meta anyway when it comes to these sort of action combat games, I just play what I find the most fun!
