My honest review of the metabo wall chaser and vacuum,
Great bit of kit and will be well used
www.metabo.com/uk/en/info/new...
The wall chaser is “Made in Germany”, has a maximum cutting depth of 40mm and width 35mm, comes with a Metabo Marathon motor which is patent protected to protect against dust and debris, 1900 Watts, has soft start, restart protection in case of power failure and a mechanical safety clutch should the disc jam, the clutch disengages the motor so not to burn out the tool and prevents kick back which protects the operator.
The machine has a diecast aluminum gear housing offering robustness and efficient heat dissipation therefore protecting the machine from overheating, runs on rollers for easy guiding of the machine and has easy sight of the cutting line.

I'm getting a much more expensive (£350) chaser thanks to this video to replace this old Silverline I had. But I will never achieve THIS (see link) with my Metabo because it's too abusive for such an expensive tool - I was astounded at this tools strength, I had underestimated it. We had a chaser similar to this one when I was an apprentice back in late 00's and it was a relic! It had its own propriety blades but you couldn't get them anymore so my old boss use to have a guy re tooth the wheels for him. I snagged a hanging cable with it once and it just propelled itself up the wall and jammed into the ceiling, it was pretty lethal.

I always use oval conduit when chasing, 16mm for lighting, 20mm for sockets, cooker etc. If you can change the width of the blades, you can get it to fit in so tight you dont need to use any fixings to hold it in place. Halves the amount of time it takes to 1st fix

do you mean set the width of the chase, so 20mm fornice tight fit on 20mm conduit
@codenamenel
@codenamenel 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulneary703 yes whatever the outside width of the conduit, set your blades just slightly wider, say 1 or 2mm and the friction holds it in, depending on length of chase it might take one or 2 nails in the middle to hold it in but compared to flat capping it's a massive timesaver

I use 25mm conduit in the wall (handy for pull throughs when daddy diy spikes the cable with his new B&Q drill, etc.). 40mm depth works well, allowing for a 10-15mm coat of bonding compound. A little more effort, but nicer job 😉

Have you got it to do something other than chasing? Because its values are great but if it is a one-job tool, ( Chasing), then I can't buy it, I just need it in one house and that's it, but if it is useful in many things, ( besides chasing), such as being just like a normal grinder, then I'll definitely buy it, I will hit two birds with one stone, ( I want a grinder and a chaser). Please, answer me, because no one is saying anything about this.

You know!, for normal people who chase like 4 or 6 lines every month or more, dust can just make you cough and feel discomfort, but when you do this every day or 20 days a month, you'll be thanking those dust collecting technologies, and I believe many people don't realise that fine dust can really decrease the health of the workers in the long term of continuos exposure. In other words >>> Dust is not a joke, it is similar to smoking, except that it is not addicting and not cancerous.

Careful ? Here's an example of someone not being careful at all - solid concrete with flint rocks in it, outside, in the rain,, and flushing it with a hose I'm getting a much more expensive (£350) chaser to replace this cheap one I had by Silverline. But I will never achieve THIS (see link) with my Metabo because it's too abusive for such an expensive tool - I was astounded at this tools strength, I had underestimated it. The job was, to my mind, one to trash the old Silverline and send it to the scrappy, but .... it DIDN'T. Watch too and be amazed! (Obviously not amazed, but it gives you some idea of the limits of this lowly machine): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXOrq6mueMyXY9E
