Fantastic information. I was at a conference in Toronto recently, and attended a workshop on the top of how the body uses fat as fuel. I asked the presenter, aka "expert", about metabolic flexibility and he completely shunned it. He said it "isn't a thing." I now see why. He wasn't equipped with the answers he needed to discuss it. Glad that this showed up in my inbox this morning as I needed some insight. I'm going to look into Nelson's Flex Diet. Thanks a bunch!

Super helpful, and I just watched your other podcast with Shrugged Collective from 2016. Every day I get questions about what is best to eat. These interviews are fascinating and will help me try to answer the questions, with scientific-based information. I signed up for your newsletter and I am going to dig further into these topics. Great interview! I'm curious on your opinion of mixing fats/carbs in meals. Specifically, in regards to hitting total calorie numbers for day. Do you recommend all carbs around w/o and stick to fats and protein for other meals? Or lesser amounts of carbs included in non pre/post workout meals? Assuming goal is bodybuilding.

Generally speaking, most people are so far from having all their ducks in a row. That makes this particular thing very, very specific. Unless training, diet, sleep, hydration, recovery, etc... is all operating on 100% capacity, this isn't going to make much of a difference. Low hanging fruit will give you the best results. Find what you're weak at and fix it.
