I'd listen to this again. Three song is very similar to cats and a cradle until he says that the whole song was a dream and he wakes up to his kids on the swings and kisses his wife. The song becomes a literal wake up call to him to doing things different because that dream could easily become a reality for him. "Shady made me, but tonight, shady is Rock a bye baby". He actually stopped doing music for 5 years after this album and was a stay at home dad

He didn't stop making music for 5 years. In late 2006, the Re-Up album was released and he was also working on a solo album, which he scrapped. The song Beautiful was supposed to be on it, it was made in 2007. From 2007 to 2009 he was working on Relapse.

It was written/recorded during the height of his drug issues, it was his retirement song at the time (released in 2005 with his greatest hits). He was putting Slim Shady, his Mr. Hyde, to bed, to try and continue a normal life. Obviously he OD'd twice in 2007 and he came back in 2009 with Relapse (with a return of the Shady persona) after getting clean. But this was supposed to be his swansong/farewell to music when he was burned out at the time. Would have been fitting if he never recorded another song
@seankiesling20542 жыл бұрын
@@sjn6704 if you listen to the lyrics hes talking directly to his alter ego "I turn around,, found a gun on the ground and cocked it/ put it to my head said "die Shady" and popped it" With Shady came trouble, with Shady came drug and alcohol abuse. He was putting an end to him and all that. Retired his alter ego/got clean

That's the reason he's stayed in Detroit and doesn't tour a lot. His life will always be Detroit. His entire life is Detroit and his daughters. He grew up in a very insecure situation. it was an NA group. Em has had issues with addiction in the past and even said in an interview that it got so bad at one point that the paramedics said that he was literally 2h from death bc he had so much Vicodin and Ambien in his system, that if he had gotten to the hospital 2h later, he would've been dead. Idk if this is like actual footage from when he was at the NA group or not, but he recently celebrated 11y sober. Also, when Hailie's talking to Em and says 'mom your wrists are bleeding,' she really tried to kill herself. Also, when he says 'the plane I was supposed to be on crashes and burns to ashes, he doesn't mean it literally; it's a metaphor saying that if he continues on the path he's on, everything's gonna fall apart

theres alot of factors your missing out. even if theres other similar type songs, its about how the message has been conveyed through the chosen genre. many misses out on making the listener connect and relate and therefore while being the same type song, just wont have the same effect. its his wording, metaphors and how you as the listener is in his shoes for a while. another example is modern theater vs old. how a modern theater can just blow people away with the same play just a modern tweak, doesnt make it bad because its done before. same for music. also it conveys a little more than what you have read into the song so far..

Who cares if its fair or no one else is going to win. The people have spoke, give the people what they want. If most of your subs are wanting or asking for Eminem wouldn't you want to make videos for them? That's why you're making videos right? For your subscribers to watch. Give them what they want. That's my opinion any ways. I wouldn't care what's fair.. But I can see the other side too, Making videos of what you want and not wanting to do the same artist every week. You just gotta find that balance. Maybe do one Eminem song per week. Make a Eminem Thursday's or something because I bet you have a lot more STANS subscribed to you than you might think.

My father left today at 5:30am and is right now having a meeting that began at 9pm. After it he's taking a bath and goes to bed. When I asked him to stop working so hard he basically told me he's working for my sake. His parents never supported him. He wants to be different. I just hope that I don't hear he hung himself one day. He's already on anti-depressives to deal with the stress. 2.5 more years of this and he'll leave me a solid 10k/month for the rest of my life + a nice job. So from his perspective it's worth it.

Honestly if there are 10 songs I actually "like" of Eminem's, I would be shocked... I do like his rapping, his styles, his lyrics especially, all the double entendres and even triples at tims. I give him all the credit in the world for being the best Lyricist probably on the planet, but....If there is 10 songs I actually jam of his I can't think of them. Songs like this one, I don't even like "Lose Yourself". Feels purposely pop, although the lyrics are incredible. Same with this one.

This song is iconic because he was publicly putting to bed and killing off his alter ego Slim Shady. He reflected on alll the drama and trauma that life brought him (drugs, lawsuits, drama) he matured and put to bed a whole character that made him famous. I think a lot of people don't get that...how huge that is "I put the gun to my head said die SHADY and cocked" and the chorus "and when I'm gone carry on don't mourn rejoice everytime you hear the sound of my voice" and he never went blonde (shady) after this
