Eminem grew up without a father figure thats why the most important thing for him was to make a good living for his children. He was so afraid to disappoint them so he worked so hard and got kind of lost into his work almost forgot his family life

Ok, just to be super clear. We've all heard this song(and the ones everyone's suggesting) a thousand times. We're not watching your reaction because want to hear the song again. We're here for you "making it about you". I've watched dozens of reactions to the songs you've watched so far and seeing your journey through his music and how you see the songs is what I'm here for. Make it about you. Em has always had a way of hitting you with the most brutal sucker punches and making you feel the things he's felt, but he's also one of the most powerful storytellers and has some of the most uplifting songs you'll ever hear once you understand how heartbreaking his story(and all of ours are in different ways). Em is the ultimate story of success from nothing. Be authentic and keep making it about you. That's what Em has always done.

It makes me as a 22 year old man who lost his father a year ago see this song in a completely new light as well. I can't listen to this or mockingbird without completely breaking down. It really puts the premise of the songs in perspective especially when it used to just be a song you enjoyed to listen to before. Gives them a whole new meaning.

For a little background information, Eminem was at his worst with his drug problems at the time he was writing this song and he wrote it because he didn't think he was gonna make it through and he wanted to leave his daughters with something that could help them when he wouldn't be there anymore to do so himself.

The term " Stan " was actually added to the dictionary because of Eminems song " Stan ". And when used it's actually defining someone as an obsessed fan of a celebrity or someone. Not just with Eminem, can call any obsessed fan a " Stan "

I think the last verse is a combination of a dream and reality. When Hailie says "Help mommy her wrists are bleeding" that's mostly reality, Kim actually did that. Obviously the plane crash is a dream, but it's not the only time he's used that metaphor, when he felt like his addiction was coming to a boiling point. He wrote this song at a time when he was getting ready to quit rap, so I also took it as a goodbye to us when it came out.

Eminem is a really great artist but he is multi faceted. I’m glad you are checking out his Marshall Mathers works. He has 3 personas, when he raps as Marshall Mathers it’s his real, personal, and emotional songs. Sometimes even motivational. When he raps as “Eminem”, it’s his impressive, bravado and competitive rap. He goes all out and out raps everyone. (But watch out because he takes no prisoners). When he raps as “slim shady”- it’s his true alter ego, it’s no holds and he goes awol. I like slim shady because I find it funny and amusing and I don’t mind crazy, wild, and even offensive or off-colored humor, BUT you most likely will not like a lot of slim shady because he uses slim shady to fight for things like free speech. So when the politicians, media and public came after him after his first album and tried to ban his use of certain words or subjects…..he used slim shady to put his middle finger up and just answered back even crazier. He goes after every special interest group in every vulgar way. But many don’t understand the tongue in cheek comparison he is making to not actually doing bad things in real life. I think you will love his Marshall Mathers persona raps/songs so I urge you to explore those and learn to appreciate that side of Eminem before you move on to his other sides. The other sides can be off putting if you don’t understand they are not the “real” him. (Which is what Stan was trying to convey, the fan was fascinated with a character he was playing, called him “slim” the whole song).

These types of intimate, emotional and real reactions really help me through tough times. The whole "reacting world" can get quite formulaic and unintentionally dull in terms of feeling that real musical, emotional and personal feeling. Whether through tears or expressions, words or sounds, it helps to see others get affected by the same music you do. It brings a feeling of not being alone in the end, and that hundreds, even thousands across the globe are here in the same place appreciating music. Much love all around.

Thank you so much for your great and refreshing way to run your reactions! I actually already LOVE your channel!!! Found it today, and I can't wait to see more of your content! In my opinion the best way to understand Em, is to go through everything he ever spoke about and rapped that got recorded in chronological order, to see through all aspects of his topics in his music and see how he progressed lyrically through the years... and YES!!! the further thought time you will go, the more you will see more and more wordplays, metaphors and lyrical intricacies, but syllable- rhyme- and rhythmical progression in his music!!! That was happening in general in Rap, but in his specific case it will really help to show you what makes him such a genius and a unique artist!!! And by the way, you can just go on exactly like this. It's YOUR channel, and you should be just yourself and behave in the way you feel most comfortable with😉 Do not think you have to compromise your honesty or originality or anything else because of the bulls*it some dumb asses comment on your videos... Really really good video, thank you for not trying to follow the "usual" way of doing reactions! I think also that people really like if your reactions are real and emotional just like Em's songs. You do really well! Eminem has a couple more of these type of personal songs, one pair of songs especially from the end of the Revival album called "Castle" & "Arose". But!!! Give yourself some time, and do some different type of Eminem songs in between. With Eminems music, the thing is - it is really good if you get to know his discography as chronologically as possible, because he always relates back to his own history and older songs (He also references A LOT of Hip-Hop and Pop culture and in general things of public discussion - that's also good to know, but you are not totally unfamiliar with his older work I guess). ❤

Thanks so much for that! New to all of this so...I truly feel out of my element each time I sit down to do a song. But there have been some great people who have taught me so much and the suggestions have been wonderful as well. And, it's truly folks like them and you that help drown out all the hate and will keep me going here...so, thank you!

As far as I know, Em wrote this song at the hight of his pill addiction and it was supposed to be his sort of farewell song. Like he knew he was gonna die soon.

3:00 A comics fan? Nice! Eminem is also a huge comic book fan, especially Marvel comics (e.g Spider-Man, Hulk etc). I think "Without Me Official Music Video" would be a good choice for when you want to jump back into the Slim Shady era of music. A little bit less sad then the recent catalogue we've been forcing on you 😅 The entire video is comic book themed....

LOL, I appreciate that! Yeah, I've loved everything and am really amazed. I don't know what I expected but, geez...this man. My heart could use a day off tbh. I've got some others to do but, "Without Me Official Video" is officially on the list! No $hit! Eminem is a comic fan!?! I don't really know why I'm surprised but, I am! Holy moly! Thanks for sharing and hanging out with me a bit! Much appreciated!

@@FreyaReacts He's not just a comic fan: he owns one of the most expensive comic book collector editions, the first edition Spider-Man appeared in. It cost him $1 million and has sold for $3.6 million at auction, which means 1/230th of his entire net worth is a single comic book. Huge love for his passions. He's also featured in the Punisher comics with his own mini-series! He's also appeared at Hellfire Gala in the X-Men books, since you mentioned Deadpool. A quick Google for Eminem and "Comic books" will give you a lot of fun 1 minute articles to read 🤣 I'll link the Without Me version below, just because it seems liked you'd appreciate the style: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4fOhqmjebZmfrs

"Castle" and "Arose" (exactly in this order)would be excellent to react to. It would be best to listen to them one after another, back to back. You can upload them both in the same reaction clip (but this would make a very long video), or you can upload them separately. But, it's essential to listen in the right order and one after another. The songs are like a .... you will find out :). Peace and love from Romania!
