A lot of viewers have asked for plans but I did not make any. I made it up as I went along using materials at hand.
Maybe the details in this video will help anyone wanting a similar tool. If you need to know any further detail leave a question in the comments.
A couple of links to the tools used.

That's got to be one of the most complex crucible tongs I've ever seen, works really well. Nice to see someone using rivets, you don't see that often. I think you need a new 1/8" drill bit though! 😂 Cheers, Alan.

Your are right about the drill. Just remembered I have some 1/8 ones in that cheap Banggood set.

@@myfordboy yes I (having bought the set) was surprised to see a bunch of 3.2 mm drills (my favourite 1/8” bit (pilot bit) for starting long holes after the centre drill!)

Seeing those rivets takes me back to my early days as a sheet metal worker at Queen marys hospital Roehampton, making artificial limbs. I have a box full of old rivet snaps. Some are my fathers dating back to the 40s. Now I am a self employed joiner in Australia. I still have the skills but rarely have a need to use them.

I giggled like a school girl watching that hammer come closer and closer to your already blackened thumb nail. Seems like you cant miss that bastard once you have blood under the nail🤣

Nice work. Looks like EMT for the tube? I see these tools on-line and just say "$125 for that? Crazy"...I get it, low volume, specialty equipment...but come on...LOL

would stove paint prevent it from rusting like that or are the temps too high?
@myfordboy

It does not get that hot as it's only breifly in the furnace. Paint helps.

I got a question is it easy casting small stuff compared to large pieces?
@myfordboy
@myfordboy 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you can small. Small parts can be more difficult as they will be thinner and the metal may not flow as well. and could be harder to mould.

Do you see any point in using stainless?

Why not make the bottom hinge out of a piece of stainless steel? You can get a piece from an old cooking pot or utensil like a spatula.

I doubt it. There are a lot of individual parts there. The price he would gave to charge to make it worth while would be pretty high. And it would take him away from doing fun stuff.
