An exciting permission today, a farmhouse built in 1734. The farm was active until the 1940’s when it was turned into a development. Could there be anything here? Hope you enjoy it!
If you’re new to the channel, check out some of my other videos. I do 2 or 3 adventures a week (since I’m retired) and post at least one video a week. Sometimes I post a bonus video when they start to pile up! Feel free to leave a comment or a question, and definitely hit the subscribe button so you can come along on the next adventure!

I’m not sponsored by any equipment companies, but I use:
NoktaMakro Legend
NoktaMakro Simplex
NoktaMakro PulseDive Pinpointer
Nokta Accupoint Pinpointer
GoPro Silver (mounted on the shovel)
Nomad RootSlayer Shovel
Whites Digging Tool
My ‘standard’ settings for the Legend in suburban yards:
Field Mode
All Metal
6 tone, with 1-10 volume turned down low. I want to hear the iron but not have it drown out everything else.
Sensitivity turned to 25-27 depending on interference
Recovery speed 5 - I turn that a little lower if the ground is ‘clean’, and turn it up a little if there are a lot of junk targets
Iron filter 8 - if there’s a lot of small iron in the ground I might turn it down to 5 or 6
I grid the yard left to right in 10 kHz, then turn and grid the other way in Multi1
Dig it all!
I previously used the Garrett Ace 300 and the Garrett “carrot” pinpointer. Suitable for beginners but the NoktaMakro equipment has performed much better.
Thinking of getting into the hobby? I really recommend contacting a metal detecting dealer, either a store in your area or an online detecting specialist. They can definitely match your budget with the right equipment for you. I don’t recommend buying equipment online from other sales sites (Amazon, Etsy, EBay, etc) since you can’t be sure of what you’re getting. Trust in a reputable dealer. I use Kellycodetectors.com… but again, not sponsored by them or anyone else.

You made me feel a lot better tonight. I just hunted an1803 homestead for the second time today and only came out with some horse tack and an old padlock. No coins, buttons or anything to even post. High hopes ended in disappointment.... but, now I'm moving on to an 1880 property with no high hopes.... maybe I will score...LOL

I'd bet money that that first site isn't hunted out LOL Go back and keep digging I promise you will come out with at least a few cool finds. I have been searching on my own property that dates to around 1790 and used all throughout the 1800s. Then my paps family purchased the property in the 1920s and used the property up until now. So I'm digging generations worth of trash but it's all worth it from what I've found so far 😁 I am using the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV

Hard to know exactly, but I'd say it's probably early 1900's. Definitely machine made, but no markings on it.

I found my buckle like yours, on a 1860 farmstead in Wis. No markings on mine either. old patina. Always wondered how old it was. Not crushed at all. Help me find out age. Thanks buddy! Rk.
