So many bullets of so many varieties, Matt! And you ended up with a thimble, which is one of my favorite relics to dig. Awesome hunt!❤

Call me crazy, but I love the fired bullets. They have a story to tell, especially the 3rd? bullet you found. Looked like it hit metatarsals or metacarpals, gruesome but so is war. Let's face it, that shovel didn't have a chance against the red Va clay, don't blame it, lol that's tough digging. Great hunt Matt, thank you for bringing us along especially since you were only one County over from me. Gives me hope for our land. Have a great week!

Digging lead never gets old buddy. I don't dig near the amount of brass that i did before I switched to a Gpx. Cool spot And video.

What’s up Matt. Good job. I have never found anything other than musket balls from rev war. I’m in jersey I do see gold guilt buttons relics and even seated coins from the civil war period tho. Tough to find tho. Likely at the bottom of a waterway. That season is upon us. Looking forward to your water digs. Cheers.

Nice variety! Maybe the ringtail sharps are falling apart at the base due to some residual black powder still on them. I’ve definitely seen that happen on other bullets I’ve dug.

Enjoyed your video, also enjoyed meeting you at this spring’s DIV, wondering if you might consider making a video explaining the GPX detector settings and your thoughts on what works best for detecting Culpepper’s red clay.

Sure I could do that. I’ll try to release it next week

PCGS estimates that only SIX thousand 1857 large cents survive in all grades. Fifty thousand survivors sounded way too high for an 1850s coin there was ever only 330,000 of. Awesome find.
