I've been using the F44 for three days now. A few things I've learned : The volume 1-10 is equal for ferrous and non-ferrous objects. from 11-20, Fe Tone kicks in, which at 11, Ferrous is reset to 1. At 12, FE volume is is 2, and FE volume will increase (1-2-3-4-5-5-6-7-8-10)up to setting 20 , to maximum 10 for both FE and Non-FE, the maximum volume is ten.

Yessir...the F19 and EuroTek pro have similar volume controls of 1-20 adjustable Fe Tone. Great feature to have if relic hunting. Glad to see you are becoming accustomed to it.

I have found a lot of junk in the backyard. After a while , I got tired of it, so in coin mode I notched out everything except 8 and 9.I buried a 1942 quarter 4 inches deep. The coin produced a clear , solid tone, and the F4 depth was accurate. The depth indicator showed 2 bars, So far there is no silver in the yard.Now off to an old school site.Thanks for your comments.

I just ordered the F44 yesterday! Thanks for the awesome review this video really helped me make my decision. I have been wanting to upgrade from my cheap detector for awhile, the F44, Delta 4000 and the Ace 400 was what I was choosing from but I really liked this detector after reading and watching about it. I can't wait to try it out when it arrives! I subbed to your channel also, thanks again!!!

If they have compatible connection points - yes - it will work perfectly. They make screw in and push in types, so depends what version you have.

so theres all metal mode, coin, artifact,custom and jewelery. What about Beach Mode? will this md work in beach? what settings are used as a guidline setup as it vary from beach to beach. since its not waterproof, but weatherproof rather. the coil defintely wouldnt go in the water.
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 5 жыл бұрын
No beach mode but it will manually ground balance to 0 - which is salt. Being a single frequency detector, it will work on the beach but be limited in comparison to a proper PI or multi-freq. Coil is waterproof....control box is weather proof. Coil and rod can be submerged.

Hey Hunter, I've notice that your not holding your hand high enough (center of coil) to get the true depth. So the depth may be deeper than you've shown. Okay? Thanks for all your testing.
@thehuntergt

It is a tear drop coil so the center is a bit lower than normal. I probably could have gone a bit higher though.

Hi, 2 years ago my Bounty Hunter literally fell apart.Now looking for my first good metal detector. You mentioned that the F44 lacks the notching ability of the LRP. You don't suppose that will bother a beginner who's first meal detector was a 30 year old piece of crap, do you? One of the main attractions to this detector is the weatherproof feature, and price.
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 8 жыл бұрын
No I don't think that will bother a beginner. The notching on the F44 is pretty normal...category notching. The LRP is a 20 wide notch you can set anywhere on the scale.

Hi Hunter, Well, I decided to sell the F44 before something fails again, and, I never could find any silver with it. It won't even find the silver coins I buried in my backyard at 8". I can barely get a faint blip out of it at 10", and that's a half dollar. To get that blip I had to turn sensitivity to max. The AT-Pro is waterproof , and can find these coins, I have spent at least 40 hours in 100 year old parks and nothing deep has been found with the F44.. It will find clad and pennies all day long. And I'll miss the backlight. Still I learned a few things about detecting. I was just hoping the F44 would perform like the AT-Pro when I bought it, but it doesn't. Thanks for all your responses .
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 7 жыл бұрын
10 inches on a half dollar is actually pretty good in dirt. Neither machine will hit a 6 inch quarter in my backyard soil. However up the street at the park both will hit 8 inches no problem on a quarter. Soil conditions are everything for a detector. Unless you hunt in your backyard - I would not worry about it. That's one of the reasons I stopped doing backyard depth tests in recent reviews. Makes a detector look bad when it's really not. I can say right now...in "most" soils. The 7.7khz on the F44 is actually going to be just as deep on silver as the 15khz AT Pro. It is ONLY in the worst soils that the AT Pro will penetrate deeper.....albeit VERY slightly. AT Pro's selling point is waterproofing. Not depth on silver. It is more of a mid-conductor finder...civil war bullets and such. Best of luck my man...sorry it did not work out as expected. I know the AT Pro pretty good too...so let me know if ya have any questions when ya pick it up! Hope it hits the silver for ya.

Thanks Hunter. I wonder if the school district uses metal detectors to find sprinklers-I sure found a lot of those! Yes, I may just save for a CTX 3030, as I know of a guy who detected a 127 year old park finding silver , all deep.It's not weatherproof, and I don't think I can make the monthly payments yet.Soild here is always getting deeper from the trees depositing leaves and needles every year, building layers, and the soil here is very wet most of the year, helping the coins sink. So for years now, I wanted to buy a metal detector specifically for finding silver coins for collecting, nickles too. Pennies are no good for collecting here because of the acidic soil which pits them. Here in the PNW, it rains a lot. Our soil in my area is called glacial till, full of rocks. The parks and schools I visited are river valley flood sediment, soft and easy to dig, where coins sink well when it becomes mud from saturation. For now, I'll keep watching your reviews and others and learn before I buy another. I had beginners bad luck with this machine, having to send it back for repairs twice in less than two months since new in Jan. I can't get it out of my head that it is defective.
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 7 жыл бұрын
If it is beeping on the 10 inch half dollar...in dirt...it's not defective. I would see nothing wrong with going up to a CTX....as that is a proper upgrade. Going from a F44 to an AT Pro would leave you disappointed however...in my opinion. The F44 is absolutely a "intermediate" machine along with the AT "Pro" (don't let the name fool you). You would need to step up into the $700+ range to see a big improvement from a "professional" type detector. although not alwayts....the T2 Classic is $499....and the F75 is $599. Both make a mockery of the AT Pro as far as performance goes. The Ameritek Patriot is easily the best deal in all of detecting right now at $450 MSRP...$399 with the code. It is a $650 F70 with a new skin and a upgraded coil. So really - $750 since it has the 11DD instead of the 5x10 concentric like the F70 had. Easily deeper than an AT Pro...much faster recovery speed...better separation. $150 to $100 of the AT Pro value is in the waterproofing feature of it. Really just a $400 detector that goes underwater. Again...just my opinion....not knocking the AT Pro. I had fun with it when I used it for 4 or so hours in the field.

OK, so I am going to buy this one. I'm not sure that automatic ground balancing is that important, referring to the Whites Treasure Pro, but the rainproof feature is very important here in the PNW. And yes, the Puget Sound has beaches, but I can 0 the ground balance from what you state and beach detect.I think that while the whites Treasure Pro is a good machine, it may give too many false displays of coins which is spells out in shorthand. Therefore, the F22 appears to be more professional, and rugged, and needs to to be manually ground balanced like many of the mid and upper range popular brand units. From what I read from Whites, automatic ground balancing has it's own setbacks. I like the longer battery life, lighter weight of the F44(by nearly 1/2 lbs, and the adjustable brightness backlight. Most of the Puget Sound beaches which I live near are gravel, not sand, and mud. And 3 more years on the warranty over the Treasure Pro.

I think you have made a wise decision. Especially if you will be hunting salt beaches where weatherproofing from splashes or water spray will be essential. While no single freq VLF will do perfect on a wet salt beach...the F44 should be more capable than the TP due to the reason you stated. Best of luck and keep me posted how it works out for you.

I went out today for the first time with the F44 in the backyard. I am finding parts to childhood toys, a metal toy truck wheel, a baby buggy wheel, a section of copper pipe with a tapered sealed-off end. That was the first find, in the back lawn where which is a walking route. It surprised me, because I would not have imagined walking over it all these years,. It was 6 inches down. Next I walked to a local tot lot, found 2 bucks in clad and pennies. learned to reduce the sensitivity due to a nylon mesh barrier under the saw dust, in order to avoid hit it. It was dark, the backlit F44 is awesome, and the light from the AT Pro Pointer is all you need.

Hey John, well I bought mine in early Nov 2019 with the 11" DD upgrade Not a bad machine for $339 I have dug up tons of clad and some silvers too. Then BAM! early December 2019 people be talking about this new Simplex as the machine that crushes other detectors over $500+ and is fully submergible with DD coil for under $250... Yup for the money the Simplex is a better machine. So ah yeah I am a little "butt hurt" (as they say - lol) I should have held out another month. BUT, I'm going to keep it real here... The F44 is a good machine with plenty of good finds and some intermediate controls for notching, tones. The F44 is still a great machine and I list the best feature as: Teaching my GF a total nuub how to detect was easy..."dear turn it on, put in all metal mode, ground balance, now go swing".... If you get an iffy signal/tone [ I tell her] switch (hit the mode button) 1 time bam! in Jewelry mode and, now listen to that tone again. She was pulling good clad and discriminating crap by tones and ID#s with in 10mins. To this day 5 months after buying this F44 I'm still swinging this "good" detector and using it for this channels videos. Yes I have my eyes set on a Nox 800 unless your "pimping something sweeter at a better cost" Brother!!! LMK, Jay Dee = Metal AF drummer / dirt fisher

It marked this as spam for some reason. Just saw it sorry. I still love the F44. It has found me more silver rings than any other detector. I love the fact that the notches are adjustable for audio. All detectors should have that feature. If you know for a fact you are not going to get underwater...and just need weatherproofing....I would put it up against the Simplex for most detecting chores. Great detector...you honestly should not have any envy. As far as pimping a detector...I am all about that Anfibio still. Best detector on the market for me personally. Some guys love that Nox and I surely cannot blame them. Just something about the Anfibio that clicks for me. Hit me up via email and we can talk price.

You say you have the worst soil in the USA. Then why do you test a detector with the concentric coil? You should be using a DD coil in Bad Soil. I also would like to know why you think you shouldn't leave a coin buried in the soil for a long time, the halo effect is the real world, if its buried in the ground for a long time you will be able to detect it at a deeper depth than a freshly buried one.
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 8 жыл бұрын
Fairly simple answer Ronald. Because it was sent to me by a friend to review. Not to mention that many detectors sold on the market have concentric coils. DD coils have not proven to perform better at all in my soil at all. DD coils excel at unmasking and separation obviously, however it is debateable that they magically make terrible soil more penetrable. I show all detectors at local grassy parks and sites where the soil is not as bad as my direct back yard...which makes a mockery of most detectors abilities. There have been arguments on every MD forum on the internet about whether the halo effect is real or not. Veterans of 30 years arguing it. I have seen no credible proof it exists. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Iv'e probably been detecting before you were born. I started in 1972 and detected all different types of soil. Halo effect is real, anyone that has detected much knows coins oxidize, when that oxidized material spreads from moisture, it creates a larger target. Also I've seen your video saying you use high discrimination. You lose all kinds of depth doing this. You think you are a know it all, You are not. I will no longer watch you videos.

I have absolutely zero doubt you have been detecting since the hobby started. You sound exactly like every other self-entitled 40 year veteran out there when somebody disagrees with your opinion or way of doing things. Seems like plenty of the veterans on Findmall and Treasurenet forums use concentric coils. Many swear by them as being DEEPER than DD coils. Mineralized ground or not. As you can clearly see I had disc just above iron and foil for the test...so quite low actually. I am a coin shooter and in my other videos I do tend to run it high during my field hunts. Again...not the same way you do it as we all have our preferences. I prefer to notch and disc high. You provide zero proof the halo effect is real other than your pompous attitude which...I apologize...does not cut it for me. I have heard at least 50 other detectorists who have been hunting just as long as you as say it is NOT real and I tend to fall in that camp. So there ya go Ronald...other detectorists with just as much experience are disagreeing with you. Not just me. Good day sir. You will be terribly missed.

It's all in the delivery of the information, which you do extremely well. It sucks the Ronald took offense and got butthurt. The Halo Effect is a theory that some folks subscribe to and most do not. I could probably replicate it with electrolysis and some sacrificial anodes but real world it would take a very long time with high ground conductivity and some well placed lightning strikes to make a coin oxidize and spread particles around. I just don't believe in it being a common thing. Great video THGT, as always. Have a great weekend brother.
@thehuntergt
@thehuntergt 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Joel. I am in the same thought process. Hard to imagine how a coin will spread a halo out due to oxidation. Never have seen a credible link or proof of it. Debunked by the science guys if anything. To each their own. Happy Hunting my friend.

You say a Land ranger pro is great and yet a Teknetics Liberator is the same? And I believe a eurotek is a minuteman as well. $153.00 F11- Coin, Jewelry, Artifact. $229.00 F22- Coin, Jewelry, Artifact and Custom $307.00 F44- Coin, Jewelry, Artifact, Custom and A/M- All Metal,.... but whats the depth? First a person would want to know the Frequency Second the depth Third- Modes-Coin, Jewelry, Artifact, Custom and A/M- All Metal***** Fourth- ground balance,.....Automatic or Manual or both or fixed. Fifth threshold,...fixed or adjustable sixth -gain and sensitivity PinPoint if it don't have this don't want it. They must be able to handle mineralized soils,...beaches. I had the Fisher F5 for a day sent it back. It looked like it had the right stuff. It appeared to work I like knobs that do something like Whites did those must have been digital or something. Easy to manipulate, I simply pluged the coils in and air tested,....and measured depth and digital id numbers and pictographs. The numbers were close,.....pictographs 25, 10, 5
