Would it be fair to say that when your onto a area like this and getting your 6 - 10 little bits a day of half a gram to a few grams that your “averaging” say $200-$300/ day on all these little bits? Just wondering if with fuel & food, all these little bits pay or whether it’s the you tube royalties / patron donations that provide the cream on top of your gold returns?
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
No, you only see the good days, remember that's months compressed into a couple of hours, with the high costs in these areas breaking even is living free but without power, water, phone etc, youv,e gotta love the challenge and excitement, not the mighty dollar, cheers NM.

Hi there, im 23 and currently living in perth, after watching your vids, im so interested in metal detecting and also i want to change my boring life style caz on my spare time i play video games and i really want to change that to going outdoors and be more active and also for the benefit of my health. I found some metal detecting clubs in wa but im not sure if i should join them instead if i should just buy the equipments and start hunting by myself. For the clubs you have to pay some fees to be a member and they have like montly meetings and etc..im really interested in those but Ive never tried metal detecting before and have no experience whatsoever... im wondering do you have to have abit of knowledge of metal detecting like the laws and stuff Or you can just be a beginner and learn yourself through each hunting? Im thinking of going to river banks and such but what sort of metal detector would you recommend for beginners that can detect silvers, coins, gold, bronze? Im so hype already!!

Nice stuff mate, The gold was ok too definitely on a run there! it's coming from somewhere, how far off the creek was that shaft?? i'd be rigging up some lights and a camera on a bit a rope and lower it down got to be worth a look and when are you going to pull that big bastard up LOL Keep em coming
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter, the shaft was about 300 mtrs up from the creek and my thoughts at the time were lowering a GO-PRO and a Cyalume stick down on my fishing rod, the camera will want to spin so more thought needed but its something l would like to see also, cheers for the positive feedback as always and the great suggestions and l will be back to editing pt 4 by Monday, NM.
@petermundy33395 жыл бұрын
There has to be something down there or why would they dig it?? the camera may spin a bit but it will settle down, you know you have to
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
They definately chased a gold seam or deposit down until it ran out, the shaft veers off from vertical to a sharp angle around 30 feet deep so he was following it, if l can get the gear l will take a look, it will be better if l can sync the phone to the GO-PRO to see what its seeing while its down there, don't worry l am curious too, cheers Peter, NM.
@petermundy33395 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if the gold you are finding came from the reef that hole chases ??
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Could have done Peter, but short of finding gold all the way to it, its only a guess, l have found lines of reef in the past that have shedded gold in 3 separate places, forming 3 individual runs, but l will be taking a closer look and maybe even dig a costean where l believe they are coming from and try to locate the quartz/ironstone reef that holds the gold, that will be a plan for a future trip which l will upload, cheers NM.

Beautiful vid, from start to finish. Have you worked out what the purple stuff is in the rock there? How about tying a rope or two to your detector and very slowly lower it down that mine shaft. It would be interesting to see if there were any leads they may have missed a century ago.You also never know whats dropped to the bottom over the years. Nice gold trap that. I guess now that's all for next season and if you're going back to that site. Anyway gratz on this vid, brilliant as ever :)
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, really glad you enjoyed, l haven,t identified what it is for sure but suspect its the same mineral found in the combs of schist, where its even brighter, its sedimentary rock so probably a talc or oxide present in the sediment, always a welcome sign, as was the old shaft, my plan was a cyalume stick then a GO-PRO attached to my fishing rod, at least have a look down there, l just hope l don't see bones, lol, thanks again for the good comment, cheers NM.

Another great Video Russ, very educational and insightful. The feeling you must get finding each piece regardless of size must be ecstatic as just sitting here watching you dig it up helps ease my gold fever lol. Haven't had a chance to get back out for weeks now and still need to do that depth test you described to me but as the weather warms up, the window closes around the areas i can go here in SA due to high fire risk restrictions, so i'll bug you with that another day. As for your video's, you are really doing a great job in editing, production and passing across good solid information so i just upped my Patreon from $1 to $5 and hopefully hit some shiny yellow myself and go up higher. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next episode. Cheers Nick (ROC) ⛏😀👍
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Good on you Nick, l am getting some good feedback and sorting through it, l only get the one chance to video my finds so that is where my focus will be, like you say the excitement levels rise every signal and slowing down and thinking about the videoing side of things goes out the window, for example- taking a couple of stills for the thumbnail etc, your extra support definately drives me to do better, with the Mercury rising it makes it almost impossible to get out there right now so its a good time for planning and research towards next yrs trip, cheers again, Russell.

I showed my Mum some of your latest videos to try and explain what i have been "trying" to do myself. She loved seeing the wildlife like the Goanna and the Eagle just as much as the gold which is true as it adds to the experience of what you encounter on your adventures. I did mention that you came across a few camels a while back that chased you (can't quite remember the exact details) but she had a chuckle anyway lol. Well it's 10:00am and nice and cool, so i'm off to the Forestry reserve today and get this GPX 5000 depth tested and hopefully dialled in and something to show. If you have any spare luck, send it my way please. Thanks Nick 😁

Good luck today Nick, its all about persistence, perseverance and patience, glad your mum enjoyed and l will include a camel that was eyeing me off soon, cheers Russell.
@republicofcasuals5 жыл бұрын
G'day Russell, I did the depth test and you were 100% on the money to do a depth test on a bank of untouched soil as once i was done i wen't back over a area i had previously been over and started hitting target after target at around 10 to 12 inches which was cool and a little weird being a well worked area. Unfortunately no gold but i have a new found confidence that it's working as it should and i still might need a new coil to go even deeper. I will admit my arms are a little tender today as i dug around 20 or so targets yesterday which in itself was weird as anyone who had been over the area should of cleaned them up. That place you said you go in QLD, is that a forest / national park type area? If you get bored before next season i would love to see a video of you in those conditions as to WA (no pressure). Anyway, here is what i found if you wan't see a bunch of trash lol ibb.co/garjf0 Cheers Nick :)
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Good news Nick, now you just need a real faint natural signal to make sure you are getting the best from your machine, sooner or later it will be gold and there will be no stopping you, since getting home it has been new balljoints, wheel bearings, linkage repairs etc, the roads are brutal on vehicles so no time to get out to the fields yet in QLD, its getting pretty hot here now too so may not make it for a while, its yet another fossicking area that has been heavily worked but a good place to use big coils, cheers Russell.

Nice gold I have a 4500 but can't seem to pick up that small of pieces do you mind saying what kind of coil you're running
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
Gidday Bennett, its a Nugget Finder 17x11 inch Mono, l will be changing the coil next year to the 17x13 inch mono for a little extra depth so you may wish to go straight to that, l uploaded a settings video for the 4500 and they worked well on my mates 5000 also, you can find it here studio.kzbin.infoLTI-PsNr0No/edit, these settings can be tweaked to suit individual detectors when you hit a faint signal to get the best from your machine, l hope this helps you finding gold, cheers NM.

@@TheNuggetMagnet I've already watched that video and am currently running those settings thank you very much that video helped me a lot it's hard to understand all those settings
@TheNuggetMagnet5 жыл бұрын
I agree, its confusing at first but soon will become easier from practice, you can always use lead sinkers for testing if the gold doesn,t come soon enough, make sure to use undug ground for testing, ie" bury your target into the side of an embankment or hole, use different size lead at various depths to see what your machine can achieve, its time well spent, cheers Bennett, NM.
