@@richardwarren4879 Thanks. The funny thing is, I never had any interest in metal detecting as a child. Now I have a child that loves it and now, I love it too.

I'm a veteran relic hunter i really enjoy seeing the youth interested in metal detecting!! Great finds!! Living in Maine there are some really great spots to detect. Be mindful of rules about metal detecting, always get permission before you detect. And cover all holes. Ask friends family, about out old places to detect. Around old structures, farm fields are good. In the fields look for old foundation signs like brick ,broken glass, pottery pieces, oyster shells. Good chance you can finds old coins and relics. Happy detecting 😊

I've never seen using the end of the detector to measure the pot (new term), that is really clever.

Good job, nice technique. I live on a farm, my house was built in 1890. The farm was divided up and sold in Parcels back in the 50s I just got into the Hobby and I'm looking forward to detecting the property.

I think the horse shoe is from a shire horse It is a big working horse. Don't think it is from an ox as year's ok they use them for pulling carts .

Thankyou so much for commenting. My son will be so happy when I tell him. I noticed that where what appears to be where the nails would go in, they are square shaped. Would that be more from an older shoe and not a modern one?

The Bounty Hunter Tracker IV is a fine machine 👍 it just sounds like his settings might be off. I use this metal detector and I run the machine in Tone mode. Finds lots of coins, but make sure to turn the discrimination a little bit after the halfway mark.
