Good to see you back out detecting and making videos again. Nice Indians, V nickel and relics. That car was the find of the day, with all the wheels and most of the paint. I haven't seen one like that before. Congrats Jake

Hey there. Super cool video. I'm also from Michigan and got my first detector this year (Equinox 600). The coolest part for me is it's forcing me to learn the history of various areas, including my hometown, Flushing. I do have a question tho. The video makes it seem to me like you guys are just knocking on the doors of old farmhouses and getting permission. Is it really that simple? I keep finding myself seeing these old houses and wishing I could detect their yards.
@THEWANDERERS2020
@THEWANDERERS2020 2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new detector and welcome to the hobby! In this particular video, or on this day, yes, we just drove around and knocked on doors! We have decent luck that way. We also research old maps and areas to find out where old homes used to be and then contact the property owners to ask permission.

Are you using the 15” coil?
@THEWANDERERS2020
@THEWANDERERS2020 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do use the 15" coil quite a bit. The last yard of the video I was back to the stock 11" coil though. I love the ground coverage of the 15" in the bigger areas.

@@THEWANDERERS2020 Its tricky on elliptical coils. I got rid of my minelab because of it. Point is off the center of the top of the coil, unlike concentric coils being in the center of the coil. I never could pinpoint correctly with those types of coils. Keep swinging.
@THEWANDERERS2020

Yeah, if it's a coin that isn't super deep I can get a pretty good pinpoint on it. Start adding depth and throw in some rust and it gets tough.

@@THEWANDERERS2020 That actually has a term for it, its called the Halo effect. When a ferrous target starts breaking down in the soil, it leaches out into the surrounding soil and can make a fishscale size piece of metal sound like a silver dollar sized object. I've been detecting for almost 42 years. My knees hurt! 🤣😭😂
