In the dissertation I sent you, there should be mention of Nickel Sulphide collection. We used a Nickel and Sulphur based flux to capture the PGM's and then mill the resultant Nickel Sulphide matte into powder. Then dissolved in concentrated Hydrochloric Acid with added Ammonium Chloride. The residues would be fine PGM powder, which could be filtered off and assayed further.

Have you considered attempting to extract PGE or metal build-ups from soils/dirt on/near major roadways like I-5? I read an academic article a decade ago during my undergrad (I think the article was 12-15 years old at that time) about vehicle exhaust expelling catalytic particulates. These particulates were something like 95% metallic and 5% oxidized. The majority of the metallic particles expelled landed/collected within 10m of roadways in like the top 5cm of soil depth and in roadway dust. I can’t remember for sure, but I believe the article said these particles were very fine, like sub-1-mm. I also do not remember the exact concentration values found in the soils/dust, but I do remember the values were statistically significantly (p

Have you considered purchasing a handheld X-ray XRF gun? I know codyslab has one, whenever he goes prospecting it looks like it’s extremely useful. I would assume it could be used on slag as well. Although they’re expensive, I feel like you could make up the expense pretty quick in assay costs.
@alexdrockhound94975 ай бұрын
He has one. Hes used it in previous videos. Probably not good for this application though as the amount of metals in it is so small, and XRF give such a small sample size. And theres also the issue of sample distribution. Analytical XRF procedures require one to powder the sample and then press it back into a puck so its representative.

Jason, you have proven that catalytic converters are worth a fortune! Many teams of people go out during the night and cut them off of cars for this very reason. What a shame 😔 Anyway, your concoctions are trial and error, which only increases your knowledge as you smelt all types of metals. I was wondering about this and wanted to ask if you keep a 'recipe' notebook? I know that you have vast experience and knowledge. It seems that having a notebook with specific recipes would be beneficial in the future. Furthermore, look at the overhead reduction from following your notes. A lot of money saved there. Blessings from Alabama ❤️

Aah yes, if you have the PGM's in the Silver you can dissolve the SIlver out with Nitric acid, Palladium will dissolve in Nitric acid though. There must be a way to get that out seperately something easier than cementing on Silver. If I'm not mistaken Rhodium is a pain in chemistry if I remember well it gives a pink percipitate from Aqua Regia.

You should try and crush plastic chrome parts and see if you can recover the paladium from them. When they plate plastic chrome, such as the grilles on all new Ford trucks, they first rough up the surface and then impregnante it with paladium and the paladium is what the nickel and chrome actually stick to. (I watched Modern Marvels about chrome recently)

Gets hotter with less gas because the infrared gets reflected back into the crucible instead of through the walls of the furnace. KZbinr Nobox made a video about it today. The drug addicts that steal cats from my little corner of ghetto WA would appreciate this, if they wern't to far gone to emulate it (or sit through 12.5 minutes of class). I've replaced one cat in the last couple years, luckily it was a fairly cheap one (125.00). I've wondered for quite awhile where they even take cats to process, but I guess anywhere they know how is that place. I wonder how wrecking yards process them, maybe through you in the future? Once it's all separated and purified I'm sure it's legally sellable to even precious metal buyers. Interesting subject but a bit controversial concidering the epidemic of sawzall artists roaming the night.
