Old retired Army guy here, I can help with the ribbon and ribbon devices identification. The last ribbon is called the European Campaign Medal for WW2. Each star device represents a major operation a Soldiers was present for during that campaign. The Arrowhead device represents, in your Grandfather’s case, an amphibious assault combat glider landing at Normandy. Love the videos and keep them coming!!

One thing - those “wings” are not glider pilot wings, they are a qualification badge for glider infantry, who where flown in a glider by a pilot who was a glider pilot, whose wings looked like regular WWII pilot wings with a “G” on the center section. Glider infantry personnel where considered Airborne units until they were phased out in the late 50’s and the badge was no longer authorized in 1961. The EAME (Europe-Africa-Middle East) campaign ribbon has four stars on it which mean 4 additional awards of the medal for a total of five campaigns, and the arrowhead indicates participation in an invasion. You should get a copy of his discharge papers which will list all the medals and badges he earned while in the service. I would guess there should be a Combat Infantryman’s Badge authorized for him. He probably saw some pretty terrible things while fighting in Europe. God bless him.

I love this show. Note to all....Please don't use harsh brushes on any artifacts, especially coins. The scratches are noticeable under a microscope and will affect the historic value as well. There are lots of cleaning solutions made to gently clean and restore these items. Thank you for helping to preserve our history. And really, this show totally ROCKS!!!!
