Metal Detecting UK, Searching for gold and silver on the river bank!

Hi all, welcome to the newest episode of my metal detecting videos. Today i decided to head down to my old metal detecting hot spot at the River Humber foreshore, an area where i have had multiple gold and silver finds along with medieval hammered coins.
I was using the Minelab Safari which i put the stock search coil on as the 13 inch ultimate coil was not the best choice due to iron contamination.
The silty mud made metal detecting quite hard but i had some really exciting finds down there and overall a good morning out!

Quite a little productive hunt that one fella and always love the foreshore as you say anything can just pop up when you least expect it too and that is what makes me keep doing it :-) ATB GL & HH LittleJohn Metal Detecting

Thanks for that John, that foreshore in particular is one that provided me with hours and hours of detecting when I was struggling to get permissions at the start and without it I would have definitely have quit before I fully got into the hobby 😀

Andy Baines Metal Detecting Same as me my friend that is where I started out again after I used to dig with my Dad when I was younger but once I decided to start detecting I went down the Beach as much as I could finding not much but after time and help from others it all took off from there and I am glad like you say that I did stick with it because I have found so much and located so many good holding areas including new digging areas for bottles, fossils etc it is just awesome :-)

A good, muddy hunt, Andy. My guess on the decorative metal square at 7:45 is a book plate, that would have been affixed to the center front of a tooled leather book cover. Not sure about the topic of the book, but I'd guess "Cosmic Geometry." ;-)) Congrats on finding a U.S. Lincoln Memorial Penny. It's amazing how they get around.

great hunt, I love detecting by the water. I never have much luck though, just modern change, and once I found a diamond ring. very nice, good luck!

At least you're out on a hunt Andy. -5c and trying to snow. Interesting square thing. That piece of junk my be a squirrels artificial hip? Where is you wrap up glass of Rum after a cold day out? That 'Stinkin Lincoln' looks in good shape.

Greetings! Very nice day of coin shooting. That was quite the haul. I've no idea what the square thingy is, but I would bet it is Hindu. Nicola White mudlarks the Thames in London and finds a great deal of religious artifacts. There must be a ceremony(s) associated with throwing objects into bodies of water. GL & HH to you. Brian

Andy Baines Metal Detecting You said possible religious symbol, the woodland nearby has been allegedly used a lot in the past for witchcraft/devil worshipping purposes as it is reputedly haunted area so you might be onto something there

I've just shown a photo of your square to a friend of mine who believes in witchcraft etc... She couldn't exactly identify it, but she seems to think it could be demonic, with the figure on the front looking like a cross between Mother Earth and a demon... there are plenty of shops that could probably give you a proper identification.
