Great video Si. You're absolutely right that we have to try new places and sometimes they don't yield anything special - but we don't know until we try. It's good to show those explorations as the search for history in itself is compelling. If it yields results that great, but often times it doesn't, as we both know :) . Really enjoyed this and learned a lot. loved the Scotland footage. And you did actually find some fab history. Dinosaur prints. wow.

Aw thanks Nic x I must admit to being a tad disappointedly the lack of finds - but you are spot on - you’ve got to try new places - adventure is hiding around the next corner!!

My many-greats grandfather came to America in 1699 on a ship from Liverpool when he was only 19 years old. He was Quaker. It was called “that sick ship from Liverpool” because about half the passengers got sick and died on the voyage. I want to visit Liverpool one of these days.

I knew straight away that the 'Nori' brick was from the Accrington Brick Co. I went around the works in the early 1970s. There were two rows of kilns back to back, about 20 kilns in each row. Bricks were stacked in each kiln and then holes broken through from the next kiln to let in the heat. Crushed coal was tipped in through holes in the top by a mechanism automatically at regular intervals. The bricks were fired for several days then the next kiln was started. The fire thus went along the row and back along the adjacent row in a continuous loop. The fire had gone on continuously since about 1911 which is just incredible. It was very hot, dusty and sulphurous fumes.
