Technically, I believe you’d call this a polymeter and not polyrhythm. If the 7/16 pattern would’ve been repeated on the 1 of every 4/4 you might call it a polyrhythm, but for that to be possible the tempo of the 7/16 pattern has to be altered. Metric modulation is a related and relevant term.

@@mateoneandross7656 You're pretty much bang on. There are not that many techniques you specifically need for metal drumming and a lot of it can be just purely stamina. At the most technical/fast end of the metal genre there can be stuff that is genuinely physically difficult to play as written and performed - Nile is one great example of that - but even when metal as a genre tries to be conceptually complex, it usually sticks to the genre-defining tropes and song structures. Jazz drumming gets way more difficult generally, and at the extreme end of Jazz, the sky's the limit.

Yeah, I grew up in the 80s, and kinda thought of them as disposable pop, but at some point -- I think it was when ABBA Gold was released in '92, I felt like people who normally would have scoffed at them started taking a serious second look. By the late 90s, early 00s, it was "cool" to like them again. Not that music should be measured by what is "cool" or not, but my point is their reputation definitely took a serious uptick around that time. Pretty soon, I remember hearing almost every other indie rock band name check them (Kurt Cobain was said to be a big fan, but he was always ahead of the curve on these things, if not defining the curve), and the various musicians I played with, many into punk and post-punk, all loved them. ABBA are great song writing, melodies, harmonizing, and orchestration. It is perfect pop.

What he means with the title of the video, is what would happen if a Metal Drummer heard the song, he is not referring to himself. Check the description, he clearly knows ABBA xD

Literally the transition from confused to fucking killing it on the drums it outright unfair Also seeing the emotion when playing literally made me cry a little. He obviously acts the way he does in videos because it’s funny and part of his personality, but he’s enjoying himself so much that that just goes out the window. True passion for something really brings a tear to my eye

When I was in school, I was the drummer for my school band and jazz band. This song was the bane of my existence. The drum part is simple, and easy to do. The issue is the speed and length of the song! It exhausted me and quite often the song would go on longer than it should because I was actively slowing down and thus the rest of the band would slow down to keep time, haha.
