I couldn't stop laughing when he said that line lol. But, it's true! It's physically impossible for them to write songs that suck. Of course, some songs are better than others. That's normal. But, I have yet to hear a Band-Maid song that sucks. Probably never will.

There are only a hand full of songs, I can put on repeat, listen to them literally dozens times in a row and I will never get bored of it. Postmodern Jukebox - Crazy Train is one and Onset for sure is another. This song, indeed sir, never gets old. If anything good came out of 2020, it is my discovery of Band-Maid and especially Onset.

"Onset", four minutes of perfection. Yes you are right, they are a very cohesive band, they support each other so much while they push forward to be better so much. This is an unbeatable combination of talent, hard work and sisterhood. I cannot desire them something less than Worl Domination. You have done a great job sir. I love to see people been thrilled with these girls as much as I do every time I listen to their music. If you want to investigate a slightly more metalist vibe of their music I reccomend their MV Rinne: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYKclZV7i8yNmaM

I always felt like it was the arrangements, interplay, and musicality that made them standouts, but you're right, their instrumental tones have been commented on too much to discount. I do often wish Kobato's rhythm guitar had a little more definition, but it's filling in sonic room so that Misa and Kanami can go bananas and the sound is still full.

@@ToObs75 I'm in the same boat. I think it's a genre thing, at least for me. There's a funk and groove in Kanami's compositions that I don't find in power metal generally. For me it's the difference between my ears being wow'd, and my body being driven on to the dance floor against my will (or in the case of The Dragon Cries, to howl at the moon).
@ToObs75
@ToObs75 3 жыл бұрын
@@drogonr9318 Agreed, the self-control I need sometimes to not just start dancing in public when listening to Band Maid is unreal, haha. But I personally don't think it's a genre thing to be honest. There are soooo many genres mixed in all songs from them, the songs have barely ANY similarities at all sometimes, but at the same time it always feels like Band Maid. I could be wrong tho, it's hard to describe, the way Kanami does it just somehow speaks to me.

Greetings from Germany and stay healthy, but keep the Band-Maid stuff coming, it´s a good thing 😄 P.S.: I totally get your reference, because i watched WWE etc., that´s a good call... Oh man, I just loved the "It must be weird for them to be in a band that is physically incapable of sucking" 😂 ... that was a common thought but never heard it said through those words... another common thought/reaction that I've seen around when it's about "Onset" is "I'm so happy" ... and that, I think, was my thought as well when I first heard it... that fast intro coming down on you and splashing into that swamp-ish riff, then start moving, not too fast, not too slow, just a ultra cool groove... Kanami dancing to it like its now time to relax... I do feel happy, I'm happy that this instrumental exists, that's been done and executed this way, this cool... Many times in many of the moments/songs in this concert specifically I felt like I'm living, watching, witnessing something as strong and legendary as a Deep Purple concert in Osaka 1972 or California Jam 1974 or anything of that kind, that cool, differences aside... they are just so cool and every song in their catalogue is TDF... incapable of sucking, what a great choice of words! Cheers! ... OOH, check out a ballad now: "Daydreaming" ...it's also in Zepp Tokyo live, but if you can't find it, there is always the MV... also "Don't Let Me Down" and check the lyrics, it's one of the only two songs sung completely in english - The other one is "The Dragon Cries"...

I love watching Band-Maid make people giddy and out of breath and just freakin' _bewildered_ so much that I have to remind myself to go listen to their non-video tracks because _those are just as amazing._ I also love how in the first part of Kanami's solo she's leaning back in her "just vibing and feelin' it" mode and then when she goes into the second part it looks like _the music itself_ yanks her into an upright position.

Beyond the obvious shout-outs to Kanami, Misa, and Akane, I love how far Miku has come as a guitarist. She started out, in her own words, as barely able to play. Onset reminds me of old school instrumentals like Eric Johnson/Cliffs of Dover, only with the whole band prominent and interwoven, rather than just lead guitar. Definately structured more like a song with three repeating verse, pre-chorus, chorus sequences (and typical Band Maid flourishes, additions, and changes in each repetition) than a typical instrumental jam...

You already have done a couple of Band-Maid songs and you still have this child-like enjoyment on your face :D reminds me of little-me late-80s, early 90s with "Ninja Turtles" and "Nintendo" games hahaha "Onset" was performed first on this exact show you've seen here. What a nice surprise of them. For a long time they simply labeled it as "unfinished", a little later as "unreleased". It's kind of - it doesn't have lyrics, so it's not done yet..., but it weirdly has the structure and all the elements of a "normal" song... - so it's "unfinished" for them. It was officially released later with the bonus-disc for the conqueror-album. Band-Maid has a couple more instrumentals. "Onset" is just the only one having an "official" release. They performed another one on the US-tour in 2019 - "Don't Be Long". There are no pro-videos of it (yet), but the best fan-cam is this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ-yZIF3mJWpgtk - don't be afraid, it's very good video and audio, that guy was very very lucky with his spot. I find it even better than "Onset", just hope for a official "pro" release one day. And yes, as some have mentioned - get your wife on your side for the next one! I don't know what she's into - obviously, duh - but I think she (=> both of you) would enjoy "DICE", "Alone", "Bubble" and "Choose Me" (all on the official channel). And then continue to the more ... uhm how should I say it... "complex" stuff -> for example "Puzzle" (one of my abs. favs) (I mean you basically got the gist of it - they don't have bad songs, even the ones you don't like as much, you would still classify as good or at least average, so...)

The thing that amazes me about BandMaid (besides their individual ability) is that they craft incredible musical arrangements. Each instrument (including Saiki's voice) harmonizes with, accentuates and elevates each other instrument. The ability to arrange music at such a high level would elevate even mediocre playing but when combined with the technical virtuosity of BandMaid, we are looking at next level music.

Dear Bryan! Greetings from Shizuoka in Japan right under the benign care of Mount Fuji! I make a rule to at least to watch and listen one reaction on Band Maid by all reactors, but in your case I have watched them all and more than once. I just love your reactions "from the guts"! Everyone talks of cohesiveness and all are right, but when you know that Akami writes all the songs before submitting them the other members, Saiki included, for appraisal, modifications, and tweaking to extremes, the result is that such a piece as Onset simply becomes a four-pronged solo symphony (someone's going to kill me for using such vocabulary! LOL). Even Miku has her own rhythmic solo part in a song already crowded with incessant banging on her guitar. You could, like all their songs, instrumental or not, end up in dissecting the whole performance in at least half a dozen pieces that would please any rock fan. Another favorite reactor of mine suggested that you should listen to them at least once with your eyes closed, and he was bleedin' right! Take good care of yourself (ves), mate, and looking forward to your next reaction! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

Btw here's another of their instrumental Don't be long (fancam but great quality) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXnWn4RjoMSCps0 This is also an upfront closeup of Kanami the lead guitarist so its easy to appreciate everything she's doing in detail.

After you've heard a few more of their tracks I'd really love to see a video of you breaking down Akane's style. She is unknown to most drumming channels on KZbin and I've been waiting for that shit!

Misa's incredible pick - slap - pick transition blows me away every time I see it. Also, "I am so happy right now!" is me listening / watching Band-Maid play most anything. They are a true joy to watch. :)

After the second guitar solo but before the drumsolo there is this tiny bridge setting up the drummer, go back to that point and listen to Misa playing some sewer pipe of filthy bassnotes. (In this reaction video it starts precisely @ 4:16. ). This is an awesome piece of art, I watched dozens of reaction videos and all being blown away by this song. If you think you can handle more Rocking Japanese Chicks: try Doll$Boxxx with Take My Chance. Nice reaction, really enjoyed seeing you enjoying yourself. It would have been nice if you would reacted twice in the same video and I would have loved seeing the reaction of your misses! To use a song title by Prince: Rock'n'Roll Is Alive, It Lives In Japan And It Wears Stockings And A Skirt!"

"It must be weird for them to physically incapable of sucking" might be the best way to describe them. Band-Maid is this generations Guns 'N' Roses... Straight Up!
