Time to jump back into some Konami goodness with a Revamp on this infamous port of an MSX2 classic, it's Metal Gear! While still a decent port to its home computer counterpart, its got some classic NES jank for the type of game this was, a very bold title to port onto the NES. All aspects of this game service the console very well, even if the game is brutally long and difficult to most. The Soundtrack though reigns supreme as the best part of the game, and is very up to standard to Konami and among some of the first Konami releases in the USA to hear Drum Samples in their games! The soundtrack is absolutely catchy and memorable throughout thanks to Kazuki Muraoka's impeccable use of the NES soundchip, and a very interesting Mix of arranging a couple of the original tunes from the MSX by Iku Mizutani, interestingly opting to arrange a lot of the tunes you'd hear at the end with the Metal Gear Boss BGM (as well as the regular Boss BGM), the Escape BGM and the Ending / Game Over tunes, and with Muraoka composing pure original tunes for the rest of the soundtrack, which was a great choice as we got unique and great tracks from the "Jungle", to "Outer Heaven", the "Password" theme, and arguably the better version of "-!- RED Alert." Everything about this OST is a pure example of high quality Konami music, and more praise should be given to Kazuki Muraoka for giving us this versions great music! And big shout outs to Atsushi Fujio's Sound Driver being used for this game, credit to whose sound drivers have been used in certain NES Konami titles is thankfully being found over the years, but a big chunk of games are still unconfirmed variants to who did what, but due to Fujio programming his own Sound Driver his is luckily easy to point out, and its one of the best! Thanks for enjoying these videos and soundtrack everyone! Big shout outs as always to Tier 2 & 3 supporters on Patreon to be featured at the end, always appreciate the support in giving thanks for what I've done over the years, if you'd like to give thanks for my recent Revamp efforts you can support here, thanks! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku

It really amazes me to think I've been following you for something like 10 years on here. Listening to your music while drawing on miiverse every morning back then on my wiiU. Things in life happen in this period of time abd though there was some times I didn't know if you'd be back. It's great to see you still here with these rapid releases.

That is almost surreal to think I started 8BitStereo the year the Wii-U came out, and yeah when I started slowing down uploads because of streaming on Twitch, I was worried if I was going to have 8BS kinda fizzle out, but thankfully I got the idea for the Revamp when realizing I could make the mixing better, glad to still recognize names like yours I've seen for years, thanks for sticking around! :)

This soundtrack really kicked itself into *Gear* for the NES, a top notch Konami jam. And you're welcome! :)

This version may not be as good as the original, but I do think this soundtrack is an improvement. The original played one song for everything above the basement.

I feel the Original songs that Kazuki Muraoka composed really elevates this OST and to me makes it the best version, but Iku Mizutani's MSX compositions are great too, it was nice to see Muraoka Arrange a handful to this console :D

People overlook this fantastic OST due to other issues with this port. This soundtrack is excellent. The "Outer Heaven" theme is Mission Impossible as hell.

I think most people take away just the "Jungle" and "-!- Red Alert" themes because it's what you'd primarily hear if you never gave this game more than 20 minutes of your time :P But its Konami goodness, the original tunes are phenomenal!

One of the first games my dad go for the NES, might have been our like 5th or 6th cart for the system. Definitely still one of my favorites and the music goes a long way in keeping this one alive in my memory

I know people talk about nostalgia and how they wish they could go back, I definitely can understand that, but I would love to just experience this game for the first time again and play it like I did back then, listening to this music for hours sometimes as you explored to find out where to go next because there was no internet to just look up the answer. Exploring was more fun in the 80s and 90s

Escape - Beyond Big Boss is awesome, the kind of quality work almost taken for granted from Konami composers.

RED ALERT RED ALERT RED ALERT!!!! Honestly I would just get caught on purpose just to listen to that epic track.

Despite the msx port being better like others say, this ost completes the whole MG1 ost for me. The "Jungle" theme is as iconic as "Theme of tara" imo.

My half brothers had this game when I was a kid and would often bring it with them when staying the weekend with my family, but I wasn’t allowed to play it for some reason, presumably due to the music scaring me or something, I don’t remember why exactly.
