@@kevinmackey3166 Well I'm not disagreeing with you that he might have some "esp". I'm saying as a super soldier he might've gained an extra sense of awareness, especially in the battlefield. MGS4 is focused on the Psyche of soldiers in the battlefield. There he is aged and his performance is affected by his psyche. When the psyche is low the player's vision on the screen can become blurry when close to nearby explosions or when taking damage.

MGS3 will be a lot harder to do. Gaurds can hear your steps unless you stalk(use d-pad) which is a lot slower. There is also no soliton radar that shows you their vision field.

This is basically playing MGS 2 like you're playing the MGS 1 VR missions, which does definitely make it lore accurate snake. At least, I think snake supposedly did those missions in the lore? I know that the VR missions in Ghost Babel have a little reveal at the end which reveals you've been playing as Raiden throughout the VR missions (and ghost babel came out years before MGS 2, so that's pretty cool). But also the cut scenes in MGS 2 kinda imply that Raiden was the one doing the VR missions in MGS 1. So I dunno. But the VR missions definitely teach you how to break the game's mechanics to the limit, which is what you've done here, which is why it's an awesome video. I never played the VR missions spin off game back in the day, only ever played the mainline games back then. So playing it for the first time with the MGS collection in 2023 has made me realise I always played the games WAAAY too cautious. I didn't realise just how much the games could be broken like this. It's fun as hell to mess around with it now.

Nice comment! I only did MGS2 missions back in the day, and yeah it fully opens up the entire gameplay. You really appreciate the limits of this stealth concept, and they throw in a lot of quirky challenges. Can't wait to do the MGS1 VR missions. There is a fan theory that the only time you played with a Snake was in MGS4, MGS1 is Raiden training in a simulation of shadow Moses. MGS2 Tanker is also a simulation being played by Raiden. MGS3, Portable Ops, Peace walker and ground zeroes are simulations being played in the mind of venom for his mental transformation into big boss. Implying that you never played with big boss and explaining all the weird stuff like technology that did not exist in the 60s and 70s like the walkman and historical inaccuracies. And the reason why you get time paradoxes in MGS3

If you sit at the main menu in MGS1 a cutscene will play where Campbell briefs Snake on the mission. In here, Snake mentions VR training and footage of MGS VR Missions plays over it. So, yes, MGS VR Missions was done by Solid Snake, before Shadow Moses.

Because PMCs are much more vulnerable than state militaries they tend to operate under much stricter rules of engagement, and they have to behave within the confines of the client's wishes. The US army's objective might be to secure some village and they may just bomb it a few times to thin thr herd, killing civilians in the process- but if a PMC is hired to carry out the same objective they would likely have caused a nearby event to prompt a civilian evacuation first. Stuff like that used to happen all the time in the 90s. If you look at Wagner today in Ukraine you won't find that kind of discipline because the client's (Putin's) rules of engagement are just to kill everything in the area, Wagner is essentially just a wing of the Russian army but without the legal technicalities that would pass along personal responsibility to the Russian government. At least, that's the aim. It's worth remembering that the world Kojima drew from worked pretty differently to now, he was mostly inspired by the news of the 80s and 90s, back when these kinds of rules were much more enforced. Nowadays basically anyone can get away with a war crime so it's more or less fair game, the most they'll face is a furrowed brow and some crossed arms from the Haugue, some grumpy foot tapping from the UN. If it happens in Africa or the middle East then western governments won't care, CSTO countries won't either unless the US perpetrated them and even then they'll just complain about it for political point scoring.

To be fair, the Russian military up until the 2000s (as far as i know), alongside its satellites, was chock-full of Afgan veterans who cut their teeth "winning" an unwinnable war (quite like America in Vietnam) and was quite formidable. Now, the Russian military has sort of lost a lot of those veterans, and has not updated a lot of their armament in some time, and so they are much less effective. I see it as outdated information and not so much tricks.
