Not to mention their general impracticality. People overlook broadswords cus they aren't mainstreamed, despite their surprising amount of techniques, they are depicted as being cumbersome hulking pieces of meta,l it's akin to how Knight armor is seen as hefty, but insanely durable. The latter by the way is half true and that's being generous. Obviously sword slashes aren't gonna put much of a dent on it, especially due to its rounded shape beyond the joints causing deflection, but the material is aluminium, which on one hand isn't the malleable shit you get in aluminium sheets, but also is far from Invincible. I actually had the privilege to handle Aluminium slabs in radiation labs and they are surprisingly hefty and unyielding to flexural tests. That said, their cross sectional thickness was too large and further from Knight armor to serve as an example, meaning that potentially the only thing capable of going toe to toe with knight armor would be a Cranequin Crossbow, which are infamously slow to reload, about a minute I think. That said, their draw weight is a whopping 180 kilograms while regular crossbows which used a mix of body weight and arm strength to pull, were roughly a quarter of that. Katanas also have techniques but because of their design, they need them to be remotely usable, lest it just embarrassingly bounces off an unarmored target like some magic trick at your expense.

I had the exact same "Can I please go back to being tortured with electricity now??" feeling that I had during the original game's long-winded Ocelot dialog! 😆

Bro, that transition to low res footage and Liquid giving the exposition on Revolvers. Its perfect , Peak MGS!
@ocelot77209 ай бұрын
You know. Liquid is not correct here. I mean about comparing revolver to katanas. It's not just popcultural references that made the revoler so awsome. It actually was a revolutionary weapon that change the landscape of weapons forever. It was the first gun ever that made it so you don't have to reload after each shot. It was crazy above everything else without having the loss of a weaker shot. Revolver is actually far above all the praise it got and is pretty deserving. Katana was "just" japanese slim light sword. Ohh... And one more thing: Revolver, Revolver, Revolver.

This reminds me that, in the first Red Dead Redemption, the most powerfull handgun is a automatic pistol that you get almost at the end of the story. You spent most of the game buying revolvers that are slighly better the previous one and at the end the Game goes like "Look, This little thing Beats all the other ones"
