There are more easter eggs. Nearly the whole game is based on Rambo 3. The setting is in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion and you arrive in Afghanistan on horseback with Ocelot. This scene is very identical to Rambo 3 scene where Rambo arrives in Afghanistan on horseback along with a Mujahedin fighter and the dialogue is also similar. Also the mission Phantom Limbs is similar to the whole story of Rambo 3. Snake goes to save his old friend from Soviet captivity just like Rambo did. Other missions have references to the movie as well. In the mission "Where do the bees Sleep?" you search for a missile launcher called the "Honey Bee" which is based on the FIM-92 Stinger missiles and you must find it before the Soviets do. In Rambo 3 the Soviet General tortures Colonel Trautman to learn the location of the Stinger missiles which were sent to the Mujahedin. In MGS V the missiles were also sent to the Mujahedin and they hid it and the Soviets torture a Mujahedin prisoner to find where they hid it. Also the mission "A Quiet exit" is inspired by the ending of Rambo 3 where the whole Soviet army attacks Rambo and Trautman just like in MGS V where the whole Soviet army attacks Snake and Quiet. There are many other similarities like the vehicles and gun emplacements featured in the game. For me the whole game is a Rambo 3 easter egg/reference and if you play it Rambo style (Shirtless and Bandana, stealth and some times guns blazing) you will notice more similarities

The Birthday Easter egg is such a nice surprise for a lot of us who either never had anyone wish us a happy birthday due to not having friends like that growing up, loss of family ties, or simply being forgotten. A friend of mine had no idea about this and I had bought him the game as a gift the previous year knowing about the Easter egg and how I wouldn’t be able to visit him due to family matters so I asked him to stream playing the game for me. When he thought something crazy was going on mother base to then be shown this surprise and coming to the realization why I had asked him to play the game I gifted him had brought him from confusion of the situation then tears when getting my message wishing him a Happy Birthday. I could see all these emotions play on his face. From laughing at what was going on with the singing, to then cry when seeing this cake, and to see the joy the surprise had brought him made it all worth it. He held his watery eyes together until I messaged him right after and he broke down thanking me for having stuck by his side after all these years of knowing each other and saying how I’m the only person he considers a brother. All thanks to Kojima and the team I was able to bring my struggling brother happiness on his 25th year of existence. We’re more than family...we’re DIAMOND DOGS.

Yeah, Quiet in the rain is awkward, but once they start to splash fight i think its actually quite a beautiful moment. (she didn't have to be naked for it but that just kojima for you). It's one few moments in the game you get to see Venom and Quiet being innocent and playful and you can see they both want to keep going on like that (that whole "love blooming on the battlefield" thing MG does), but then quickly remember their place and job. Quite sad when you think about it.

TheRoyalUnicorn That's not quite true...they have no problem with the "R" and "L" sound itself, they just have both of them as one letter and don't differentiate them. Example: The protagonist of One Piece is named Luffy, some characters pronounce him "Ruffy", others clearly pronounce an "L" but mostly it's pronounced like somewhere between "L" and "R". Most asian people have problems with these letters but only when they use a language that uses the latin alphabet...and honestly it has also to do with them just not giving a shit. Most asians with bad accent just never actually try to learn it...they learn the language to a degree they can barely work in their profession and then they leave it at that. An asian family moved into my neighborhood about 10 years ago, the (then)children speak without accent today (took them less than a year to get really good), the mother adapted quite well from just raising them and the traditionalistic and abusive father who spends almost all the time in his takeaway is still only shouting unintelligible mess towards his customers...his accent has not changed since the first time I heard him talk

The song "the Man who sold the world" is about someone meeting his doppleganger for the first time ffs, and the fact that the song is a cover means that you are essentially a "cover" for big boss. So the whole reason it is a cover was intentional, same reason why David Hayter was not used for the portrayl of Big Boss (or kojima hates hayter honestly Suferland did a great job but the reasoning behind not using hayter just doesn't make much sense). Because technically everyone who has ever played MGSV is Big Boss themselves. And there avatar is Venom Snake/Big boss. Venom snake is the Big Boss to be killed in the very first Metal Gear on psx by Solid Snake, and that is why you are so surprised to see him in MGS1, because he was thought to be dead. That was retconned by kojima in mgsv hence the back of the tape saying "Operation Intrude" the same operation that snake killed BB in Metal Gear 1

This is the only game I have ever gotten a Platinum trophy for. I did it because it was so much fun, it was never a chore to complete the tasks, it was always pure fun and perfect gameplay. Ended up playing around 180 hours and got the platinum trophy. Amazing, I recommend everyone do it and experience the game to the fullest.

It's interesting that they used Midge Ure's version of "The Man Who Sold The World". It could be for copyright reasons (I don't see why, considering they used the likes of "Final Countdown", "Maneater", and "Kids in America"), but I think that Ure's rendition fits more tonally with the game. Its arrangement of synths and bass pads gives it a reaaaaaally eerie feeling, and just feels so damn right in this game. I remember starting up the game for the first time, and watching the beginning first-person sequence, with no cuts, no dialogue, just slowly gaining vision in a hospital bed with this song backing it up and being immediately floored by the game's presentation. Still one of my favorite games of all time, and one I frequently revisit to this day.

Why did the scene with Quiet dancing make you feel awkward? I though it was beautiful especially when the music kicks in and Snake and Her splash water. It is a very sweet and happy moment to me.
