A remake should expand on the original, not repackage the same thing we already played. Sometimes the developers don't find the golden path and they completely change the game we used to know. Resident Evil 4 is the perfect example of how to be faithful, while daring to change it for the better.

Just adds a little immersion And also keep the geography the same but just expand some parts, there are a couple areas in the original where it feels like youre in a tight corridor instead of a giant jungle lol i can imagine that it would only feel even smaller with yhe perspective and graphics. It might be more accurate to say that Delta is an Unreal Remaster. They've outright confirmed that it'll be a faithful 1 to 1 recreation, where the story plays out exactly the same, the map layout is identical, and the dialogue is ripped straight from the original Snake Eater. The only major changes are in the visuals & gameplay, which I feel is what a game remake should be. Plus, MGS3 is already considered the best in the series, so changing/adding certain story elements probably wouldn't be the best play. But I'd hardly say any of this is considered lazy, simply because of how long it takes to make a game, even a 1 to 1 recreation. Okay, maybe some updated voice acting could be alright, but given it's been 20 years since MGS3, some of the OG cast may not be available anymore, either because of age affecting their voice or they passed away(don't know any of the VAs apart from David Hayter, so no idea if any of them are gone). And not all of the OG crew returned to work on the game.

But it’s not. It’s a 1:1 story beat which is what people want but this time it’s in the msgv engine which is modern and easier to play especially if you’re getting introduced to mgs nowadays. Also I find it annoying when I see a “this game is a cash grab” “don’t buy this game” all because it’s a remake. I like seeing old games get upgrades or simple ports because at least I can now play that game from the ps2 era and have trophies to also try and achieve. I hate how people treated the mgs collection for being simple ports. I will say that the mgs3 port not getting the same treatment the 3ds port got was disappointing but I was happy to just get the game on ps5 especially since I missed out on getting it on ps3. And dead rising dr. I get they removed features and it’s not a hat we want, we want improvements not down grades but o think it’s an over reaction to say it’s already a flop. It also goes against what this video complains about as this video is annoyed about mgs delta being too similar and dr dr is getting catching flack for going a slightly different route. The perfect remake is re1 which added things and had a general overhaul but it’s not the only way to do a remake.

The level design being the same with loading isn't an either since it would be them "meddling" with the essence of the game. The only weak part of mgs3 was always the menus and controls which I would gladly move away from since they are very gimmicky even though I'm used it. And honestly this wave of "criticsm" is kind of annoying as I know many people who I've recommend this game to and dropped it because of the controls. Delta just looks like a remaster with a whole bunch of enhancements. I can’t consider it a remake because not only is a reskin of the 2004 original and the only thing Konami actually remade was the character models, some of the facial animation and the lighting that’s it. But it also looks like they copied and pasted the assets to unreal engine 5, updated the UI and copying pasted venom snakes movement animations from metal gear solid 5. This just shows that people don’t actually know what the remake is or don’t know the difference between a remaster and a remake. All companies have to do nowadays is to just copying paste the game to UE5 because assets will look better automatically in UE5, update the character models, UI and controls, then call it a remake and if you even dare to call it out for what it actually is, ppl will argue with you as if you’re the stupid one. At least Capcom told the truth about the fact that dead rising is a remaster when they basically gave it the MGS Delta treatment. Now look I’m not trying to completely shit on Delta. I have actually never played the original MGS 3 but from what I seen from the comparison of MGS three and Delta it just looks like the same game that will probably be priced at $70. At least silent Hill 2 is an actual remake from scratch that doesn’t copy and paste the entire game into UE5 like they did with Delta, and also has a new and original animations voice lines new areas to explore an actual fucking changes like a remake should which is why I’m more excited for that remake.

Even if it's a 1:1 they needed to make it from scratch ( Remake ) because the engine they used to make mgs 3 it's allmost, if not, complety incompatible with UR5 quch in short means that a 1:1 will take years to finish, so the best thing they can do is use the code of the original game and try to adapt it allmost at a 100% or doing it from the Absolute zero using the original code as guide. In fact using a complety different engine counts as remake ( also seems to have mgs v mechanics ), a remaster would be like Gid of War 3 Remaster for ps4, the several TLoU 1 remasters, The MGS HD Collection, Uncharted HD versions for ps4 etc... I’m gonna have to strongly disagree here my man, while yes the original is readily available, it still has dated controls, visuals and mechanics. While you an I may still love it, the average new player will not. I understand your point that with what I said in mind they shouldn’t take half measures by just remastering snake eater, I think the fact is Konami really wants a guarantee here. They lost a lot of fan support and money after Metal Gear Survive and want to build a team that can take the mantle of the series. That starts with this, a faithful recreation of the arguably most popular game. By changing little of the story and elements they are ensuring its quality is preserved and earning back the customer’s trust. From there that team can use the experience and lessons learned from Kojima’s work to branch out more. From the fan’s perspective I also think that this is the best option simply because we don’t know if they can expand the game properly with their skill set without drastically altering the experience and quality of story. I much rather have a great Remaster that played it safe than a failed remake and I’m sure Konami agrees. Finally, consider the business decision being made here which I know shouldn’t be a part of the conversation but when it comes to Konami it unfortunately is. They are saving tons of money on manpower and development cost by having the bones of the original game to build off of. They also are able to make an impressive presentation look it’s best graphically with the limited areas. If this game succeeds we will see more and there’s a good chance they’ll be more daring but personally I still wouldn’t want that.

Christ. Literally nothing pleases you people. If the game did things different and took new risks, you'd complain it wasn't close enough to the original. Now that it's appearing to be very faithful, you cry about that too.

Brother, I'm so pleased they are keeping it the same. My favourite game, minimal changes, same voice acting, compliments to the chef on this one! Unlike SH2, where liberties are being taken for the softer crowd these days. Sad to see on that game.

I’m tired of every game remake being constantly compared to the Resident Evil remakes-it’s an unhealthy perspective, especially from outlets like IGN. First of all, good old RE 2 and 3 were barely 3D; only the characters were, while the environments were essentially flat JPEGs. So it’s obvious that those remakes were more about reimagining and overhauling the entire control system, not just updating the graphics. But Silent Hill 2 and the MGS3 Remake are different stories. These are some of the greatest games ever made, with fanbases that are practically cults. If you were behind making the MGS3 remake (MGS Delta), you’d probably go with a safe, almost identical direction too. After all, the word "remake" should mean remake-not reimagine! I’m also concerned that modern controls, like those in MGSV, might make the game easier and less competitive, but I’m hopeful that smarter enemy AI can balance that out. At the core of this complaint is the fear of changing the original’s controls and mechanics. Deep down, we don’t want changes to something that’s already close to perfect. For me, 4K graphics, more accessible menus for the codec and camo (MGS3’s biggest downside), and improved controls (without making it too easy) are enough as a fan. I’d love it if they could connect areas without loading screens, maybe add some new content between areas, or include side stories or campaigns without altering the main story-like what RE4 did with side missions. I’m not disappointed yet, and it’s still my most anticipated game. I’m also like to see new Metal Gear game, but when the title says "Snake Eater," I expect MGS3!
@Tastymond4 ай бұрын
I like how you completely missed the REmake I was talking about there which was RE1 because guess what they still used JPEGs for the Remake. Nothing wrong with comparing games to RE which has done great remakes.
@feaRaef4 ай бұрын
@@Tastymond You're right-the RE1 remake is arguably the best remake ever. But keep in mind, they remade it because the original couldn’t fully realize Shinji Mikami’s vision due to technical limitations. If Kojima were involved, he might have had the guts to take risks. That’s exactly what Konami is grappling with-they’re afraid to alter anything that the legend created. I’m not fighting with you; your point is valid. I’d also love for the MGS3 remake to add more content, like RE1 did with Crimson Heads, the Aqua Ring, and new puzzles. But given Konami’s track record, it seems they’ve chosen the safest route to repair their reputation. That said, we should wait to see the final product-the preview was just the Virtuous Mission.
