To those of you who weren’t around in ‘98 to experience this masterpiece on PS1, it’s difficult to explain the awesomeness that this was. Like playing through an awesome movie. There was nothing like it before, and games now just can’t approach this which did what nothing has before. Totally original.

I HAVE A LONG STORY ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS GAME.. first of all i thought it ws just going to be some dumb military game like medal of honor so i wasnt gong to play the demo on the pizza hut cd i got or whatever.. then i played it and it was actually really interesting. first of all you have to figure out how to get past these two guards, let me back up.. first you have to figure out how to get under the pipe.. then you have to figure out how to get past the two guards after you try to beat them up a bunch of times and security keeps coming and you keep jumping in the water and restarting over and over.. then when you finally figure out youre supposed to sneak past and figure out you need to sneak on the elevator thats a whole challenge in itself.. then you get to the top and have to figure out that whole area and sneak inside the base and if you were curious enough you find the socom.. and if you try to use it security comes.. theres so many things you have to learn but are realistic and not arcadey.. so by the time you finish the demo maybe you decide to buy the game. the very next scene after the demo you have to fight a tank by hand.. its not arcade like at all.. you shoot all your bullets at it and it does no damage.. at the time we still didnt have the internet yet so you couldnt just look up how to beat the tank.. i dont even remember how i figured out how to beat it but i remember it took me almost a week and i was pissed that i bought the game and now i cant get past the next scene after the demo.. i used to walk to school so i would think about it the whole way there and back.. i was in 4th grade.. between that and listening to smashing pumpkins.. this game was crazy considering before this all there was was sonic the hedgehog..

I just started playing MGS on an Emulator and the entire time I'm thinking about how amazing this game was. I wouldn't change the graphics from the original, the music was amazing. I only appreciate this game more now that I'm older. The moment you get to the top of the elevator in the beginning and you step out into the snow left such an impression on me at such a young age. It was a game like this that helped inspire me to become an illustrator.

Words can't describe how awesome this game was when it came out back in '98. There had never been ANYTHING at ALL like it, the atmosphere, the graphics, the gameplay - it was all bananas. My dad hated video games by this time and even he used to sit and just watch me play the game for a couple of hours because he said it was like watching a great spy movie. It really was insane. I knew this term is overused as hell but "blown away" is the perfect description for how we felt when this came out. To see it all spruced up and remade brings a warm feeling to my stomach - now a whole new generation can enjoy this awesome classic. But it's still not going to have the same impact because there have been so many great games since then - but THIS ONE was the one that started it all.

Got to be the most revolutionary game ever. There have been more refined, modern games with slick combat and all that, but at the time this wasn't just the best game ever - it was indescribably far ahead of everything else. This was the first truly cinematic game, with proper voice acting (Resident Evil, for instance, was always very hammy), complexity and detail of themes, characters, locations, weapons, real-world events... Absolutely unbelievable

Metal gear solid has always been a game that everyone has been talking about ever since I was kid. Gaming was not popular where I live when I was a kid, I owned a ps2 when I was 5 but I never owned a ps1, so when I played this game I was really envious of people born in the 90's who experienced this game right when it released, I can never appreciate the game like they did but I still loved every second of the game

@donkeykongisytpooping30022 жыл бұрын
@@Nick.S-y7l That’s because the original English translation made a lot of changes without Kojima’s approval. Many lines have a different meaning because of this. Twin Snakes is more faithful to the Japanese script.
@mikeg24912 жыл бұрын
@@donkeykongisytpooping3002 even if more faithful though the voice acting seems more dialed in than the original dub. Not a fan of some of the VA changes either.
@donkeykongisytpooping30022 жыл бұрын
@@mikeg2491 The removal of the accents was done because it was a mistake done by the voice director. As for Gray Fox they gave him a separate voice actor because his original one sounded to much like the DARPA chief. I find his new voice actor fits the character’s face more. Since MGS2 the voice acting has become slower and not everyone is constantly dramatic like in MGS1. Twin Snakes is just following the same pattern with its voice acting as the later games.

@justinesun6313 жыл бұрын
@@donkeykongisytpooping3002 Even then, the VAs in 2 had more effort than Twin Snakes. The only time I would say are good would be Rob Paulsen’s Gray Fox, and a few quotes like “Liquid! How the?” and “Why did you disguise yourself as Master?” sounded better in Twin Snakes than in the original since in the former, Snake was more surprised there, and in the latter, Snake sounded pissed.
@donkeykongisytpooping30023 жыл бұрын
@@justinesun631 There are many characters that sound better in Twin Snakes and some that sound better in the original. Many characters do a good job delivering their lines. I’d only say a few characters sound bored at times. Naomi sounds bored in most codec calls but it does closely resemble her MGS4 voice and nobody had any complaints with how she delivered her lines in that game. Mantis, Ocelot and Liquid I think are better then the original due to the actors putting in emotions in that fit in the scenes better like when Liquid crashes his Hind. He sounds more calm in the original while in Twin Snakes he sounds very upset and frustrated. In the end I think it mostly comes down to personally preference.
