If you play MGSV then make sure to play Peace Walker first, and make SURE that you play Ground Zeroes, a lot of the people who have confusion from the story missed those two and story wise they are essential. Gameplay wise MGS5 is amazing, but Kojima was trying to do a lot of new stuff storytelling and gameplay wise and it is very different.

MGSV Is a great game and I highly recommend playing it but it does suffer from being unfinished at the end because of Konami fuckery. If you plan on playing it I suggest playing or at least watching a summary of Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes as the things that happen in those games are a big part of V.

It definitely sounds like Depeche Mode or Tears for Fears. The game takes place in the 80's so there's heavy influence of that decade's music. Gameplay wise, this is top notch quality, you'll have fun for sure. Story wise, it's incomplete cause Hideo got yeeted at the end of development. I totally recommend it and think you'll have lot's of fun. It's a great game, even incomplete.

Honestly a fucking tragedy, a shambles that we didn't get the whole thing. I still maintain that it never needed to link Peace Walker and Metal Gear 1 together, but I don't have any special displeasure for how it tried to get there. Except maybe Sa********. That was a little bit much. If it had gotten the full story it would genuinely have been the best game in the series.

It fits totally. It's a track inside the ingame cassette player. Along with some actual licensed songs from the 80s. By the way, difference of style is also explainable. MGS5 was the last MGS game by Kojima. This game is a direct sequel to MGS: peace walker, and works as a prequel to the very first metal gear game. The protagonist is still Big Boss. There is an orchestral version of this track, but I don't even think this could be considered the main theme. The game has lots of more traditional, big, orchestral, vocal tracks.

MGSV is an unfinished masterpiece, but it's still a masterpiece of a game, be it in its soundtrack, graphics, gameplay, environmental and character designs. Without spoiler because it's not actually in the game, the story is missing the final chapter that would have linked it to MGS1 with Liquid Snake as a kid in a Lord of the Flies story arc because of the dispute between Hideo Kojima and Konami at the time that resulted in him getting fired from the company, but the story we got (no spoilers) is still complete and very satisfying in the whole MGS saga. And if you care to know, MGSV is a prequel to the very first Metal Gear released in 1987 on the first Nintendo console, this game takes place in the 1980s hence the very 80s synth music. This game is already a 9/10 and it'd have been a 10/10 if that final chapter would've been included. If you want to play the Metal Gear games in chronological order (and not the order of release), it's : Metal Gear Solid 3 -> Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops -> Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker -> Metal Gear Solid V -> Metal Gear -> Metal Gear 2 -> Metal Gear Solid -> Metal Gear Solid 2 -> Metal Gear Solid 4. There are also other games like Metal Gear Rising or Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2 but these aren't part of the same saga and don't matter to the whole story of Solid Snake and Big Boss.

Personally, I love the OSTs composed by Henry Gregson-Williams, which is MGS2 and 3. That man could compose an amazing OST. So, part of why I think this is so different is it has a very 80's vibe... Which is probably because the vents of the game take place in the 80s. Here's what I will tell you: First, you need to play the short prologue game Ground Zeroes. V won't make sense, especially its plot twists, without it. You may also want to at least read the plot synopsis of the PSP games as their plots are canon leading into Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. The game itself is fun. Open World Stealth. It's more mission based in the sense that you have missions you can choose that progress the main story, or missions you can do as a mercenary to earn money to fund your military base. The game starts out with a huge bang and immediately has your attention. However, Drama at Konami caused issues, and the game was functionally never finished. While the game has an ending, there's a lot of holes left. Some of these plot points are tied off in a disc exclusive to the collector's edition. As long as I don't tell you what these points are though, you likely won't notice and it won't hurt your experience. You can find the stuff that's missing on youtube. Really, it's why I'm very skeptical of Konami's recent attempts to come back into gaming, because I doubt they've changed their absolutely terrifying and outright appalling workplace culture. My dude, they locked Kojima in his office and forbade him from going to the US to pick up a Lifetime Achievement award at Geoff Keighley's Video Game Award ceremony. And that's what they did to their major talent. Think about the regular people.

MGSV: oustanding gameplay (so much freedom and different ways to approach/play it), amazing music, and soooo much you can do outside of the normal missions. Unfortunately the story isn't quite as good because it's incomplete and the manner in which it's told, although I don't hate it. I'd rank this as the best MGS game in terms of gameplay by a long shot, but it would probably rank last in terms of story. Still, if you want to look at it as a standalone game and not compare it to other entries in the series, it's still sooo much fun and I'd recommend it to any MGS or non-MGS fan.
@subhuman216 Жыл бұрын
game is great, it’s got some pretty well known flaws but even still I can’t recommend it enough. though worth saying that while it’s very much a Metal Gear experience through and through, it’s also plenty different in a number of ways, not least of which is that MGS5 is technically a trilogy; starting with Peace Walker - a PSP game originally referred to as MGS5 in development and a story reflecting the fact, Ground Zeroes - paid demo/prologue/intermission that picks up right where the former left off to introduce some quality of life changes and general refinements to PW’s gameplay and bridges the story into the main game, The Phantom Pain - the one people are usually referring to when talking about MGSV and one I’m mostly basing my comment around. story is something you gotta more actively seek out now by listening in on peoples’ conversations, capturing and interrogating certain soldiers, picking up on contextual clues, and going through audio logs (it’s basically just codec calls from older games, except you get to choose which to listen to and when), as cutscenes mainly focus on just the critical plot points instead. it still stumbles into a lot of the same pitfalls as MGS4 in trying to connect and over explain everything, but it also handles a lot of things extremely well, like establishing what kinda man Solid Snake most likely learned a lot of his ideals from and respected as both mentor and parental figure, showing how Naked Snake fell from hero of MGS3 to being roasted alive with some hairspray and a zippo by his clone son, and fleshing out what the Outer Heaven from the OG MSX was really all about. all characters are also just also just really well written and performed, only things to complain about are that not everyone’s gonna be into the less conventional delivery methods and confusion over a lot of the details if V is their first MGS. gameplay is arguably peak of both series and genre, as to date there genuinely hasn’t been any game that could hold a candle to TPP in this regard. though unlike ps2 era MGS where gameplay depth came more from variety of ways you had of interacting with the environment, in V it comes more from the toolset you have at your disposal as well as how agile and generally responsive Snake is this time around, with there being easily a dozen positions you can feasibly manipulate yourself into in just about any interaction. also the gameplay loop of "recruiting" better soldiers to make you stronger gear and provide more support, giving you an edge in further missions and making your Outer Heaven stronger, as such letting you get even better men down the line is incredibly satisfying and plays into the story perfectly. tl;dr: game good, definitive edition of MGSV seems to be at a permanent discount and goes for like 5$ everywhere I’ve seen, everyone with any interest in this style of game should absolutely give it a shot if you got the time.

My #1 recommendation is to play MGSV: Ground Zero's which is only 5 missions long but is a much more "polished" experience than Phantom pain, and if it leaves you wanting more then grab MGSV: phantom pain. My #1 warning is that phantom pain's missions don't feel as finely crafted a Ground Zero did, so you will only get the most of it if you like the base management and open world parts of the game. Phantom pain takes place directly after MGS 3, (give or take some side-games). It mixes up the MGS experience by making things open-world so it mostly depends on if you like that idea or not, (which I very much did). The game however is blatantly unfinished, which you won't notice until the later parts of the game. This does not ruin the game, it was very fun but not worth finishing as there is no ending anyway, (the game just kinda trails on in a sandbox manner with no final mission.), so you can play it to your content without worrying about ever finishing it.

The game is very gameplay heavy and has done away with the long cutscenes and codec calls. You'll get quite a few cutscenes but if you want more out of the story you will need to listen to the tapes now rather than having all information forced down your throat its optional. Dont listen to people saying the story is bad, far from it. Its just that due to rocky development theres alot of cut content and some things concerning the plot feel unfinished thats all

Strange, I beat the game, but I don't think I ever heard this song. For what it's worth, I think it has the best gameplay in the series, but the weakest plot.
