They were really trying to play up Quiet's backstory to justify her appearance, not that I'm complaining. But if you stay in the heli with her as your companion she does random idle movements. One of them is she gets up stares into your eyes and then turns around when she's showing her ass and then sits back down. Konami wasn't subtle at all as to why she was in the game. And yah know what? I don't mind at all.

9:50 Funny thing is, they knew you'd ask that question, and actually came up with an in-game answer for it. Quiet was infected with photosynthetic parasites that give her special abilities. She doesn't need to eat or drink, and instead gains her energy through photosynthesis. All she needs is water and sunlight. So, she wears less clothing for that very reason. If she did go into combat completely covered up, she'd run out of energy very quickly. If that sounds weird, it's because it is. Metal Gear Solid is a very "out-there" franchise

Although that's just an excuse for having big boobas in the game, The End in MGS3 also used photosynthesis and was (luckily) clothed the whole game. Not being able to breathe cus of clothes is also total bs of course, you're telling me they couldn't even develop a special uniform for her even though there are technologies like holograms, metal gears and highly advanced sneaking suits present in the game? Yeah right.

@@Mcgeezaks I think that would require the people in universe wanting to go through the effort of developing a uniform she can breathe through... which likely would offer no actual protection and just be there for sake of modesty... so... there's just not a lot of motivation to make one. Quiet herself doesn't seem to mind her lack of clothing, if she did care I'd assume she'd have gotten XOF or Snake to get her one.

@@baylordeo3636 The gameplay is what you're complaining about? There is an entire set of side-quests where you deliver pizza, halfway across the map and intact, to the main bad guy. For absolutely no reason! It's a masterpiece barely held together with NASA grade duct tape and a couple different colored shoestrings wrapped around a can of Monster energy drink.

​@@QuixoteBadger I wasn't complaining really (at least I didn't intend to). I genuinely think Death Stranding is amazing with regards to its world, lore and story but the core game play? That's a hard nope for me. It's certainly fresh and different but it gets tedious quick. Honestly I think that silliness is really a sign of creativity and just gives a breather from the serious atmosphere the game has for the most part. But doing them felt like a chore because of the core game play. That's my take anyway.

For a lot of people who play realistic sim games (i.e Euro Truck Simulator, Elite Dangerous, Microsoft Flight Sim, Etc.) that tedium is half the fun. I could write a whole four paragraph lecture on it, but I don't want to subject you to that.

@@QuixoteBadger That's fair enough; I do have a friend who quite enjoys these simulation games so I know where you're coming from with that. Personally that play style is just not for me. I mostly got into DS for the story (or any video game really) and despite the tedium it did not disappoint at all and I still recommend it to people :D

Ishmael or rather Butthole guy is actually the REAl giga founder and the player character is actually a body double. its a reference back to the 2nd game where its pretty much all virtual reality to get people to be trained as solid snake. that is also why raiden in the 3rd game got his name as Raiden b/c he was also in a simulation to be solid snake.

The Quarantine mission in game is one of the most heartbreaking and emotionally impact full scenes of the series because its real and it makes you do it. Then at the end Venom Snake walks out and falls to his knees wracked with grief over what he had to do and that he couldn't save his own men and had to put them down. Incredibly powerful moment made harder by the gameplay and the soldiers themselves understanding and saluting you. It actually sells the final descent of Venom Snake from a double trying to be a hero into a villain embracing the role forced upon him by making a sad and gut punching sacrifice.

Quiet is basically a plant because of the fire at the beginning plus the virus. That is the justification for a female soldier wearing a bikini in a warzone for MGS Phantom Pain. I honestly didn't really care, outside of the helicopter I never saw her. Just told her to stay in a sniper nest and shoot the guys in front of me. Well, that and I mainly used D-dog because doggo.
