Being light on story is a Metal Max tradition: Metal Max was an open world post apocalyptic sandbox rpg for the *NES.* Think Dragon Quest, but without the overarching questline. The main character decides to just go out on his own and be a hunter, and the game doesn't end until your character decides to retire. While there is a Big Bad Evil Guy, he basically exists as a final challenge to your party, not as an end to the plotline. Shame it never officially came to the USA.

I remember playing the ps2 game of this franchise. I agree, story was never its forte and i assume this is as much open world as that one. Only sad thing is that i see no cyborg dogs. Always loved to have doggos fighting along the heroes AND the tanks

I just played Metal Saga, as in, I got it on the 8th, and it was quite fun. damn they went all out with the customization feature on this one.. i played Metal Max Returns on SNES and Metal Max 3 on NDS, both games are awesome. I have to try this one, i might get the one on switch though

God, I'm so glad I subscribed to this channel. If I hadn't, I probably would've passed by this game in the PSN store without giving it a second look. They screwed this up with reborn. They thought making it more real time would boost it, but that wasnt what was lacking. It was the story that needed fleshed out and expanded, the rest was fine.

I just finished the game and I feel the same way...the gameplay is fun and addicting, but the story's potential wasn't fully utilized. They really should have created more conflict among the cast...(Spoilers ahead) For example, lets say the cast found out about Talis' condition and him turning into an SoN, with them splitting between those who think they should deal with him while he's still sane and those wanting to believe in him...and eventually we see the group grow together and bonding with Talis in spite of his condition making him a danger for everyone...and they all help him get his revenge on Catastrophes as a farewell gift. (Yeah, I think the ending would have been more powerful it Talis died and told Yokky to take care of Toni...and Toni reluctantly decides to give Yokky a chance in the end...But yeah, I am just stating what I would have done if I was writing for the game... XP

Just a heads up on the game now. Its expensive now and this version is hard to find. I recommend getting the game as soon as you can otherwise it might end up harder and harder to get at a decent price further down the road.

mazrimalthor I know Ozgameshop has some good prices but I just cant take it that it takes forever for their games to arrive because Australia post is run by Koalas. MightyApe is more convenient than ordering even through EB games just because they offer Afterpay+DHL express and ships before the release date.

Aight. Thanks for that video to confirm. Gonna buy it now. Hope i enjoy it and hope de some times get to enjoy 1 properly budgeted version in the future. So yeah. Enjoying the game. Indeed the ruins are.... boring. Not so much the fighting gameplay as the characters themselves. I actually liked fights, albeit the weapons animations were lacking. But the maps decorations... interactions... named monsters apparition rate... lacked a bit of spice. Also the fact you can only have 3 crews... i could understand the tanks albeit rolling down the street with my army of tanks and buggy would feel great.(kinda sad the buggy isnt a fast travel option.) But i at least wish we could have the other teamates as secondary crews. Maybe as supports giving some bonuses and beeing swappable as needed. That asside... Hey would you happen to remember the music used as your intro? I feel like i remember that tune but....
