I'm finally ready to get this review over and done with. It has taken along time to record, edit, upload. There has been many problems getting in the way. But Now you can finally hear my Full honest Review on the new God of War.

One of the best reviews I’ve ever watched, although I can add a few more points: 1. Lack of impressive concepts (like Pandora’s temple in I, temple of the Fates with time travel and steeds of time in II, and the labyrinth with the huge chain in III). 2. Lack of epic music. It felt almost silent. 3. Most enemies and bosses are reskins. 4. Hundreds of items you don’t even use. 5. No interactive QTEs that you can actually lose if you mess up. Everything is done for you. Btw Kratos was a much better father not only for Calliope, but even for Pandora. He was very protective of her and didn’t want to lose her. He snapped Hera’s neck just because she called her a whore!! And what exactly did he do when Baldur stabbed Atreus in the shoulder? Nothing. The Kratos I know would have tore his head off with his bare hands. Not to mention Baldur is not even the strongest god in Norse mythology. Btw if I had a connection with Fey like you mentioned, I would’ve been more than willing to carry her ashes to anywhere she wanted, but this plot was so bad there’s literally nothing memorable about it so they had to use nostalgia by showing Athena, Zeus and the blades to sell the story. That was the only point where I thought the story might take an interesting turn by maybe integrating Greek mythology into Norse (which also could have made a good story) but it didn’t. And why the hell did Kratos not tell a single story about his first family instead of the boring stories he told? All in all, this game was a huge disappointment for me, story and gameplay.

Maybe you can mention it in a brief review video while it’s still relevant lol oh and another point I wanted to mention: rage of Sparta would simply turn the game into a boxing match which is lame lol I thought he would do some amazing combos but I was disappointed. And I have no idea why he is so weak in this game. They force you to play defensively but you already mentioned that when you talked about the Valkyries. He doesn’t feel like Kratos the great god of war at all. Bottom line, I still enjoy God of War I in 2018 (that’s 13 years), but I would never think of playing this one in 2019.

Bloodyspartan87 i played an hour of that game in my game store yesterday, and I found the game to be really slow and clunky. I felt no connection to the characters, and and the cutscenes were long and I couldn't even skip them. That says a lot when games like god of war are becoming like that to cater those who didn't enjoyed the previous games.

I'm actually kinda worried if this type of 'game' is what majority prefer, future triple A games would end up following this generic formula, walking simulator cinematic clones. They focused too much on taking out the good traits of other best selling games, placing them into their own game and end up losing sight of what made GoW well received in the first place. The bestiary is also very weak. I also wasn't expecting that fight to be the final battle. It felt so unsatisfying. This is not one that I would recommend to friends if they intend to buy a PS4. This is a 7/10 for me maximum and that is being generous. And I still do regret buying it at full price. Kudos for the honest review. Have a nice day.

I figured it would be more stable then the pc version and plus I like the controller more than the PS4 controller. Once it installs I shall be playing and recording it.

And if they tone the speed down in the games. It allows them to put lesser content in vs a faster game that needs more things added. G.o.W perfect example. It was fast paced and had more stuff put into the game vs it's being more slower with lesser content. Content was sacrificed for graphics and power.

Big problem with this game is the level design. Yeah there's lots of places to explore but they're all just linear corridors withy nothing interesting to interact with and bland straightforward puzzles. I feel like darksiders 2 did the open world stuff a lot better.

@@shintenku I 100% agree with u the god of war soundtrack is icing on the cake here in 4 is forgettable and now more forgettable the designs of the enemy so LAZY and now the most angriest part of the game idea is a "RPG" what kind of idea is it and God of war NEVER NEVER used a RPG system or NPC who let this through the design is stupid. the final verdict for GOD OF WAR "4" is a 6/10 more like a 5 is boring as hell and the enemy design is so not interesting and it strips out the jumping button and the weapon like all of the god of war game and in 4 has 2 great u remake 4 with good graphics"muddle down as well" congratulation.

Tim Dinh Well , ya gotta appeal to the Bain dead casuals who can not play real video game , how else you would be able to do unless you downgrade a iconic series as god of war and make it a bootleg last of us clone ? Not only does it lack music and enemies but the bosses are a complete joke minus the stranger , they have the balls to use re skinned bosses here while the real gow games never did , and the story is absolutely garbage , So Kratos must go on to a journey to scatter his dead wife ashes that we know jack shit about !! My playstation pro gives you an option to go for fps and tones down the graphics. So go soend another $400 to ad a few extra frames but it still chugs sometimes.

I am big God of war fan, and I believe you’re being a little too hard on this one. Kratos has to evolve after everything he went through. He has always wanted a family, so you could expect that finally becoming a father again would calm the character down. How can you call Atreus not likeable? He is a big asset in combat, and his a.i. Is phenomenal.

I haven't watched this full review yet but based on your other "rant" video, I can understand the disappointment since I thought the old GoW series of amazing and I went in expecting more of the same but feel like I got cheated. But I learned to look at the new GoW as different, but with references to the old series, and there it really stoodout amongst The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Tomb Raider and imo now is even better then TLOU and stands strong amongst the best of the GoW franchise, even without finishing it. I see it as value for money now, something that enjoyed slowly and in longer breaks between plays. Anyways, I hope you like DMC V because that will be the perfect antithesis to the rest of the drawn out open world glut, you will definitely love that if you like the original GoW :)

the feeling doesn't last long, I felt like I was finally going to play kratos being able to jump and be super brutal but it just ended up being the same. It needed more weapons it needed jump like the older games, being able to jump expands the gameplay a lot and having a close up camera like the last of us a game I didn't like frustrated me.

Darth Bane I completely agree. The ability to jump allows the developers to add a more interesting landscape that isn’t just a flat surface. Also the game never felt brutal once. Now all the fans act like the brutal part of god of war was stupid and unnecessary

I'm genuinely torn between this game or Resident Evil 6 for the worst game I have ever played. RE6 is technically worse, the camera is bad, the qte's are awful. BUT... At no point during that game was I bored. The constant walking around, lift up a rock crawl under, walk around, get into an uninteresting fight walk around some more talk with the kid, pick up a bunch of junk which might be helpful. Nice review. Oh and metal, video games and Texas, all awesome :)

What is the correct order to play the old God of war games in?

either play in order of releases - GOW 1, GOW 2, Chains of Olympus, GOW 3, Ghost of Sparta, Ascension, and if you want GOW 2018 or you can play in order by timeline - Ascension, Chains Of Olympus, GOW 1, Ghost of Sparta, GOW 3, and if you want GOW 2018 I like to play in order of timeline but one problem with that is that you have to play Ascension first and that is the weakest one of the original games.

What about Ascension , that game was awesome to me , Visually still better looking than this New Dad of war , Way brutal , and has the best boss design i have seen after GOW 3 , GOW 2 , That hand boss the Hecatoncre was amazing , The 3 sisters of fury is great , That elephant huge enemy similar to the cyclops is creative .

Just because it was another prequel and I feel the story/campaign wasn’t as interesting because the developers split have their time with a multiplayer feature that no one wanted. But that being said, I still rather play Ascension over the new GOW

While I agree with some of criticisms and I think this game is very flawed, I disagree that the second half is better. It drags,its padded and the game stops introducing new enemies(you fight the fucking trolls and ogres a hundred times over by that point.) 2)The game is very difficult and challenging on higher difficulties and requires strategy. It does that in a very tedious way(so many 1 hit KOs) but this is not an easy game! But yeah GoW is a good(not great) game where lots of areas can improve. Also the game suffered from tons of excessive masked loading. tiny rooms and corridiors and long animations to achieve the visuals and the one cut. Its pretty tedious. Also the game needed a battle against Thor to feel complete.The baiting at the end sucked.

AlyZa the only reason why I found the second half more interesting was because Mimir keeps me interest and a nice break between Kratos and Atreus boring dialogue and plus the game feels more fun when you finally get the blades of chaos.

I was with you until you said Devil May Cry is a better and deeper game. It's a one button combo system, it's so easy to do those combos. God of War 2 and 3 is leagues deeper than Devil May Cry. Until of course DMC. That Devil May Cry is deep. Now Ninja Gaiden is the king of Third Person hack and slash games lol...... just my humble opinion

I agree ninja gaiden is much more advance than both but GOW combos were never as advance as DMC. The hardest modes for GOW are pretty easy compare the lesser difficulty on the DMC games. Or at least for me.

Not only is there more depth in a two button combo system but with magic and later able to switch between weapons mid-battle was just so damn fun. Devil May Cry only had guns as a second button but that was not a fun mechanic to me. I love DMC4 special edition and I have only played the demo of DMC5 and i loved it but it's the same combat system just better looking and better animation with solid frame rate. I'm buy no means am I saying I'm correct and anyone who disagrees is wrong. No way, it's just my opinion. And I'll just lastly say that can you imagine a Ninja Gaiden game with a budget of the new GoW or DMC games had. And with the same level of fighting as in NG2. Please Team Ninja make Ninja Gaiden 4 lol
