My dude, I can tell you’re really hearing the music. The riffs, the rhythms, the overall feel of the tempo… I know that with enough practice, you’re going to become a great drummer. You could even improve quickly with the right type of practice. I know this because I’ve been playing for 25 years, and analyzing music-hearing all the nuances-is the very foundation of being a musician, and you got it!! And in the near future, an acoustic kit is the way to go! It needs the right space, but damn, the feel of an acoustic kit is on another level!

I'm so glad metal has played a big enough role in your life that it made you want to pick up an instrument. DO IT! Just remember that learning an instrument is something that gets more and more fun over time, but it sucks to start which is why so many people try and fail to pick something like this up. It's going to take a lot of drilling and a lot of being frustrated with what you can't yet do, but as soon as you get to the point where you start sounding good to yourself you'll hit a stride.

As a drummer myself (21 been drumming for 7 years) I would love to see your progress over time! Just keep at it, stay physically healthy, eat well, get good nights sleep and don’t let yourself be discouraged! It’s obviously not about fame or money but passion and dedication! Drums for some reason came very natural to me and ended up meeting my bands guitarist when I was in high school lol. Both of us started writing music and helped each other grow as musicians. As long as you enjoy playing your instrument and practice you’ll get better and better and care less about what people think and more about doing what you love! Plus drumming burns a fuck ton of calories per hour (especially metal drumming) and is great cardio. And in my experience, wonderful for mental health. Thank God for music and the badasses who play it! 🤘🏻🥁

ay bro i'm a drummer here who just started last year and I do wanna give my share of advice, I really hope you don't mind this longish list and read most of it cause i fr do wanna help out a fellow drummer: 1. Maintaining the passion: definitely don't go into hard shit that yk you can't do, but you also should at the same time if yk what i mean. you don't wanna overwhelm yourself to the point of being burnt out but obviously you'll wanna get better, find a fine line, like a drum part that you really like that you know you can do and also feel the challenge in it at the same time 2. Double bass pedal: double bass for me was a pain when I first started tbh, shit was way harder than I anticipated and it lowkey turned me off of drums for a couple days. Don't be like me, cause that shit clicks in your head fast. Looking back, it really only had me struggling for like a month or two. After a couple months i felt it just settle in and it was jus natural at that point. I started double bass around mid 2024 and now I can play speeds like heretic anthem by slipknot, just around 7-ish months ago I started double bass, just to give you a perspective on how fast you settle into ts. My advice is to 100% start slow and be patient bro, ABSOLUTELY do not get impatient. Just trust me when I say double bass skills come fast and naturally. You can try super fast shit like slipknot and metallica and you'll see what I mean abt being discouraged Also one last thing on double bass is to not cheap out on it. Cheap pedals are so buns bro. I recommend like a 300-500 price range for the good shit like Speed Cobra pedals and Iron Cobra pedals, and don't be scared to look for used drum pedals cause some of them are def steals when comparing them to their og price I was gonna write sum else but i lowkey forgot, so to close it off I just wish you the best on this journey bro. Take care and be patient with it, bless up 🙏🙏🙏

I REMEMBER NOW. Sometimes watching how people play really helps too. If you look up drum covers on songs, def observe them and watch how they play drum parts. Your can go 2 directions. You can go the older way, and buy a Drum Amp, and play your drums through that, which is good for if you wanna play with a band or play live somewhere. OR the better option, you can run it through your PC, and have 1 infinitely way more options creatively with changing the sound and you can record yourself, and 2 you can run the drums through your pc and Stream once you get good enough. Watch any video from 8BitDrummer for the best idea of what I'm getting at. If you wanted to make a second channel just where you play drums, you could do that.

Honestly, if you want a drummer I think is amazing, even if he isn’t the most technical, I highly recommend listening to something like Demanufacture by Fear Factory from 1995 (they’re not immediately entry metal, but if you like a sci-fi twist, that could probably be a good thing to look at), cause Raymond Herrera is a BEAST, and I think people even thought he wasn’t actually playing the kit he was that tight on drums. Its not about going fast with high tempos its about playing it clean. A lot of times playing slow and clean is harder than going fast. Im sure with the right practice and know how you'll kill it on drums. Also if you dont know El Estepario Siberiano you should definitely look him up his drum content is entertaining and inspiring. It's not metal but I recommend you listen to The Black Keys, Either the Brother Album or EP Camino, Especially if you want some clean ass drums

W instrument choice now I feel you might really like nirvana, nevermind and after, dave grohl was CRAZY on the drums, even if they ain't really metal (just watch lithium live at mtv vma 1992, those drums were getting smacked)

You’re the next Danny Carey bruh bet! 😂 As someone who’s recently started doing shit for myself and not worrying about other people I loved this energy 💯 I started learning the guitar because of the guitarist of Tool and Korn’s guitar work in their early albums. it’s been so fun just learning, there is a popular drum cam video of Tools drummer Danny you should check out in your free time, almost made me switch to drums 😂
