I like how you technically analyze the song, but songs also carry an emotional message which is often overlooked and needs to be considered along with the breakdown of the technical aspects. The song is about separation between two people (Fare thee well my ally). There's anger, sadness and it comes across really well in the music as well as the the way the video editing was done. He walks away from the mike at the end which is a powerful symbolism of leaving someone/something behind who previously meant a lot. Amazing song and Metal Musicians rating and breakdown is spot on!

This is definetly one of my favourite bands, maybe on the 3rd or even 2nd place (Pantera can't be replaced imho). Sylosis give me goosebumps every time i listen to them, I feel like I'm in winter woods somewhere in northern Europe, expecially in parts like in 5:04, with ambient melodies in background. and they play ALWAYS in standard E, and they are genius, because they can thorw out really dark and "fake low" chords (they use a lot inverted power chords). And expecially Josh (the lead guitarist and singer) uses a lot of minor scales in the style of Chuck Shuldiner, and a lot of riffs cames from death metal(expecially from Death influence) mixed with trash, groove metal, and i think almost every old styles of metal. Did I mention how much I love them??

So they actually wrote the album in 2016. Then went on hiatus when josh joined Architects full time. Josh is my favorite guitarist. I think you'll enjoy their song, Kingdom of Solitude. What I love about him is his solid technique in lead and vocals. Their vocalist actually ditched the band back in the day, and he basically taught himself vocals in like 6 months. I was thrilled that Josh got to make it big with Architects, but basically got moist when I heard they're back! Josh mostly plays in E Standard. He has a way of palm usage that just makes it sound like it's not E Standard. I haven't seen a lot of guitarists do that. He just has a hella solid foundation when it comes to guitar.

Such a sick band! Josh is an insane lead guitarist and a great vocalist as well - his pitched screams are cool. I think he should do more backup vocals in Architects with their future material... it would go great with Sam's voice! I was stoked when I found out he joined Architects, cause Sylosis is one of my older favorite bands, and Architects is a band I came to love much later on. I was also a little surprised because stylistically the two bands are so much different.😂 I first discovered this band like 10 years ago when I was just starting high school. It blew me away to find out all of their songs are in E standard, when I first got into them. Their old album, Conclusion of An Age got me hooked, mostly due to Josh's nice guitar work and the catchy melodies. They had a different vocalist back then, before Josh took on vocal duties. The old vocalist is in the band Heart of a Coward, and they're pretty awesome too. They are definitely one of the best examples of riffs in standard being super heavy imo (along with Opeth). Lol I suggest you check out more of their discog! You should check out the crazy sweep section in their song Empyreal!

In their album, Monolith, they did a lot of ambient things. Paulstretchy type things. Listening to Monolith to me is like listening to Opeth, not that the music is alike, but I can put earphones in on a rainy day and just get lost in it.
