I really appreciate this video because my husband and I are very green and doing our first RV redo. Thank you so much, our local RV places ran the other way when we told them we were doing a complete redo of our Prowler!

I used to own a prowler and I lived in it for a couple of years.... Loved that trailer. Just make sure you start it right. Don't rip the interior paneling out from the inside. It goes on from the OUTSIDE. Watch all my videos and learn first and THEN start your project. I know its a lot to watch but the more you watch the more you'll know. I also do classes on Tuesday evening live on line. Go to my website for great resources... www.cannedhamtrailers.com

Excellent video, Lar! And a great look at an art many of us don't know still exists. Looks from here like some really quality work, and a lot of pride in what they're doing, and that matters a lot these days.

Awesome info - I was just searching for a good place to buy some of that vintage sheet metal for my old jewel - heading on over to Hemet Valley RV's website now!!

I can attest Steve knows his business. I was resheeting a Lance camper that was damaged. He walked me through all the measurements and all were perfect. If you need any metal for a RV, He is the man. Thanks

Thanks Pilot... Steve is an alright guy.

Do they cut the sheets to fit the shape of my trailer, or ship retangular sheets?
@jerrytalley802 Жыл бұрын
I think that is the pattern on my trailer? 1967 Trailblazer, so the time fits. All my metal is being re-used. I’m missing a tiny piece at the bottom, but with a metal brake, I know I can fabricate that myself. I actually have a Van Mark “trim a splitter”. I’m toying with the idea to get my nephew who’s a machinist to fabricate some rollers to make 2’ wide panels?

@anmoose Thanks Moosie. It was a lot of fun to shoot the video and see how the metal is made. Kinda makes me want to do a whole trailer in new meta. I may do that some day. Yes these people really take pride in their work.

I used to work on one of those machines, several variants of the brake presses for aluminum too , if I could just sneak into my old work with 20 feet sections ;)

@MadSmokerBBQ I've handled a lot of this stuff and it's not sharp untill you start cutting on it. Yes it's great that someone can make our new metal for us like this and get the metal to us.

I've worked on all kinds and all ages of trailers. They are all pretty much the same. I've done too many Shastas. Getting tired of them. Right now I'm finishing up a 48 Mainline Silver Lodger. Check my recent videos. I'm putting the metal skin on right now.

I have been in limbo for 2yrs now, the supplier in my area are gaudging the RVers in our area Gatineau Que. Canada. I was contemplating on repairing my RV but discouraged by the prices just one (1) panel for the ceiling was $120.00 a sheet plus taxes 15% nothing fancy. The tech told me to repair the unglued rear fiberglass would be around $12,000 and cheaper to buy a new RV.The RV suppliers are holding us hostage even to look in their working bay is taboo. They isolate the techs from the customersto not ask them questions and their first line of defence is you have to speak to recptoiniest she will answer your questions.PS Any advise RETIRED no freedom 69yrs.

+Philip Beaupre Sorry I only work on old 1950s canned ham trailers. I don't know anything about fiberglass RVs.
