Cronos is a legend but he needs at least Mantas in this band to call it Venom . The classic lineup Cronos- Mantas- Abbadon is dead and buried .

Who cares, they are still fucking great....as long as Cronos is at the mic and behind the bass! Yes the classic line up would be nice to see again, but at least they are still around. I like this version of Venom as well as the classic line up. They ate like Motorhead, every line up was awesome, as long as Lemmy was behind the mic and bass guitar!

Have to disagree with Cronos with regards to Storm the Gates having "better production". STG production is abysmal! Even by Venom standards who were never known to make great sounding records its crap. Song are great but so often on the album Cronos' vocals in particular are so muffled and distant. Reminds me a tad like Possessed, can barely hear the geezer. Great songs, naff production. It hurts the album somewhat in my opinion.

I was ok with the production but you are right the vocals need to be turned up some. As far as Possessed, I had it on today and it is unlistenable. I am amazed they put it out like that.

@@foamrob6577 yep. For me the songs aren't the problem on Possessed, just the production. It's truly awful. Even journos who had praised Venom's 3 previous albums gave a scathing review for that record. I've always felt the band should go in the studio and improve the mixing of it. Cronos still has the master tapes for it so it should be doable.

@Boxing Fan Correct. Being such a big Venom fan I always felt bad not liking it. I think re-mixing wouldn't do any good, I think they would have to re-record the whole album (Re-Possessed Haha) like the Carved in Stone album which I love.

The lineage of the band says this is Venom no matter how you dress it up. And uh Venom Inc ruined what they had by fucking over Abaddon simply because he needed time out to help with his family since his wife just had a baby at the time. You'd think Mantas would have cut him some slack after his near fatal heart attack. The history of this band is very murky and filled with hatred, it's a real shame. I say that as a fan of everything up until Cast In Stone.
