Halsey has a stronger presence in the streaming and album versions but since it was a title song it needed to be performed without her so they had to be able to do it without her. So there is another video they used the other version with the outtakes and some extra stuff. Plus the video took 3 days to film and Halsey could only be there the last day. They have a couple of features but they usually have more than one version so they can perform it without the feature.

For kpop groups, dance is such an important element of their performances, just as much as singing. So they have literally hundreds of dance practice videos, to show us how beautiful and tecnical their dance is, and we can appreciate it out of stage or music videos. You should see more of it, we bet you´ll like it. And, this one is far from being one of the most intricate dance moves they get. They know how to go insane. 😊

The reason being that the first focuses on the cultural aspect and the second on all the BTS related details (like the one she did for Yet To Come). XCeleste's BTS knowledge is as insane as all the details they managed to cram into one video! Also, they hardly overlap so it's not like a repeat. (I know it's a lot but trust me, it’s totally worth it! )

@@JohnReavesLive A video that I don't see mentioned enough is their "Intro Performance Trailer". Probably because it's old and the music isn't theirs. But it is so badass. I guess they were to perform it at a music show but they felt the camera crew didn't pull their weight, so they shot a "very good camera" version themselves and posted it to their channel to show them how it was supposed to be done. This was also the first song that got me hooked to them too... It was at the start of the pandemic, that I got into KDramas, and one of my favorite actor Park Bo-Gum danced to this song... And upon hearing it, I really liked the melody of the song, then looked it up of who's the artist behind the song... And I have never known BTS before, so I tried to watch the music video, their live performances and dance practice to this song... And that's the start of my LOVE for them... JK is given the front act in most of their choreographies because he can sing and dance at the same time because he never goes out of pitch, nor the tone or voice falters no matter how hard their dance moves are. He is multi talented. You can watch their dance practices, you will be amazed especially during their early debut years. His harmonizing and adlibs are amazing. Actually in this dance rehearsal you can see some of their mistakes, like when jk steped on v, jimin steped on jin. Not something special, but you won't see this in first watch. Thats how profesional they are😊❤

JK has a reputation among ARMYs as 'King of Ad-libs' because his vocals show up the most in BTS songs in that role. He doesn't always do them all live (because dancing and breathing are kind of important LOL), letting the low backtrack fill in instead. But he usually gets some main ones in. The rest of BTS, it seems, don't always know when JK will choose which adlibs he'll do in a live performance, because I've seen some behind-the-scenes footage (this was very recently, I feel like it was for the 4 Proof live performances) of one or two members, Suga and someone else, joking about how hearing JKs voice pop in unexpectedly into their in-ear monitor during their own vocal parts sometimes throws them off a little bit. And then V turned to JK and told him to do as many ad-libs during his own part as JK wanted 😂 Taehyung seems pretty protective of his only dongsaeng (younger brother)

Love the format!! Yes that was JK on the ad libs. He does most of the ad libs & harmonies on their songs. His voice is all over their songs & I’m not talking about his official lines but the background vocals, harmonies, ad libs & when they layer his voice with other members for depth. There is no telling how much time that boy spends in the studio.

The dance practices are usually for the music live shows (like this one you've watched is Mnet countdown, a TV show and there's a whole bunch of music shows in other channels like Music Bank, Inkigayo, etc.) where they promote their albums on the first week or so. These performances are mostly shown in the Rise of Bangtan docu series (from their very first and so on) coz it forms a big chunk on the charts in Korea. It's like a battle amongst the newly released songs/albums. I still hope you check it out as it gives a more thorough journey of the boys 💜 Also, with the fan chants, there used to be an official fan chant guide that Big Hit/Hybe releases for the fans to follow when the boys are singing live. That's why they are in unison when chanting during the live show. In this song, yeah Halsey was not necessarily needed, being she's done mostly just the chorus part. But she has done a big part of promoting the boys in US because of this. It's mainly for the boys to expand and widen their market. ARMY loves Halsey so much as she's given the boys the respect and admiration they deserve! 😊 And yes please, John!!! Show us 'em shoulder moves in Shorts!!! LOL!

JK does most of the ad libs for BTS. The dance rehearsal is for their live performances. There are are several performances of BWL on KZbin you can check out. It’s the same choreo for most of their performances with maybe some little changes here and there

Depends on the type of adlib. JK does most of the runs, but Hobi does most of the hype adlibs. It's funny, until I saw this comment section, I always considered Hobi the adlib king. Baepsae, Anpanman, Go Go...they just would sound so empty if he wasn't making his sound effects in the back the whole time. haha

jk does most of the adlibs in the vocal songs and particularly in live performances he can change them up and vary them. This is part of the reason he is the main vocal of the group. He has the most stable voice when dancing and can do these background runs and adlibs while still doing the main choreography.

6:36 ... "BTS as a featured artist?" ... Yes, there's one I've suggested before... Seo Taiji x BTS at Time Traveler concert 2017. BTS is the sole feature artist & performs with Taiji in about a third of the setlist. The full 2.5-hour concert is up at Taiji's channel. You can either watch (or react) to the entire concert, or find & react to some of the clips. Unfortunately, Taiji rarely puts in subtitles/cc in other languages in his videos. But there is a ~6 minute clip of "Classroom Idea"you can search YT for that has english subs (by a different channel) . BTS also perform Taiji's most famous "Come Back Home" together, although BTS also had their own remake version of it. The year 2017 is around the halfway point of BTS' career/tenure thus far so they were still half unknown & half known globally at the time. Today, it leans much more towards the latter.

I think there are quite a few compilation videos about JK's adlibs if you wanted to see more of it. He definitely is great at it. If you want an even DEEPER dive into each song, usually there are short videos with behind the scenes clips from shooting the music videos. They are really fun and show their personalities more.

This is why i love korean shows, they don't hide the crowd. They even let them do the fanchant. Kpop shows are special for the idol fans interaction, their choreography, their unique charm. The dance practice and MNet comeback show choreo is the same. Usually their dance practices reflect what they're going to have to do on live stages. They modify the choreo slightly for each live stage depending on how big the stage is, if it's shallow front to back, and other technical considerations of space and lighting. That it felt like different choreo to you shows how strong is the influence of outer aspects like costumes and set, to the entire performance. Boy With Luv was my intro to BTS. About their female features, they always have had to consider potential for ARMY jealousies, I believe. Reason I say this is that in all the standard edits that show Halsey in the MV or in rehearsal or backstage, she is not really given a prominent role. But just the other day I saw much more extensive rehearsal and backstage footage where her role was bigger and more organic, and you could tell there was a good connection between BTS members and Halsey.

Do you know they don't attend after parties after an award show whether it's Korea or America ... after the award show, they come to Army like mostly for an hour. This MV was my first taste of BTS, and Jimin stole my heart and soul just in 3 seconds ! To be honest, I was so captivated by him that I can't take my eyes of him. I have to replay the MV to see the others, and be more attentive to the music Lol ! Jimin leads me to BTS, I fall in the rabbit hole quickly and hardly, and became an Army in less than a week . Years after, they are a part of my daily life, I love them all, as a group and individually... but Jimin is still my uber bias, my little sunshine, my daily dose of happiness. Boy with luv is not my favorite song, and far from it, but it always reminds me this unexpected moment, when BTS finds me exactly when I need them the most, without knowing it. The dance practice is always for the live show. Same choreography, they just add some dance breaks for the Award Show, for stunning performances. All the Kpop Idols made their come back on TV show, with live audience (and votes) like this one (Mnet Countdown, SBS, KBS etc) during their promotional activities. Wining a first place in these shows is very important for all the groups in the Kpop industry (Please, you need to react to Rise of Bangtan !! I'm sure Megan has planed that ? ) BTS have to wait 2 long years after their debut to have their first win on a TV show, because Big Hit was a little compagny without money, or influence, they cry of joy (the beginning of their rise, unfortunatly the beginning of a very dark chapter for them and the K Army). Now they don't need to do that, but they did with Proof album just to see Army (and already win 9 title). Songs that BTS featured with other artists : Mic Drop remix feat Steve Aoki ; There is also an Idol version feat Nicki Minaj ; And Butter version feat Megan Thee Stalion. But in all these featuring, as for Halsey, it's mostly BTS, with just a little cherry on the top ! One very différent featuring : Danger Mo Blue mix, feat Thanh. The rythm is différent to the original, the "color" of the song is different, and the singer Thanh have really his place. Incredible version ! ; Some few others featuring : Dream Glow ft Charlie XcC, Make it right, ft Lauv ; in reverse, Steve Aoki Wasted on me ft BTS; Coldplay and BTS collab of course My Universe. Seo Taiji feat BTS for a few songs for his 25 anniversery concert (legendary ! ) And some individual featuring : Charlie Puth feat JK with We don't talk anymore, and Left and right of course; J Hope Chicken Noodle soup feat Becky G ; Tiger JK feat RM BuckuBucku (iconic ! a blessing for RM, after all the hate he got from the underground rap, and his old friends, bc Tiger J and his wife are like the rap Godfather and Mother of Korea ! ) ; RM with Wale (Change) , with Younha (Winter Flower, beautiful) ; and a lot of Suga collab : with Iu, Max, Halsey, Juice World (Girl of my dream is one of my favorite ! ) and of course with Psy.

It may help to know that the Korean title translates to something like Poem for small things, its a song about how love is shown in the small things we do for the ones we love, which is one of the reasons I love this song

The way they changed from one position to another is freakin' cool. They really memorized their dance choreo by heart...coz they automatically know when and how to drop those steps. Their dance rehearsals are usually what you can see when they performed live during live guestings or awards shows. That's the reason I highly recommend dance practice videos so you can see the whole dance and choreography....they really are amazing.

Usually the dance practices are practicing the stage version they use for live performances or award shows. They often change things up a little for each performance they do of the same song. I guarantee you, people who are hating on BTS for simple dance moves (or anything else really) are antis or fans of other groups nit picking or grasping at straws to find absolutely anything to try to throw shade on them...it's a constant since the beginning and very sad. It's definitely not true ARMY who were criticizing them. Thanks for your deep dive, I had never seen the explanation video before but it all makes perfect sense. I wanted to mention how great I think it is that you and your daughter have this shared appreciation for BTS. I had a dad who was also very involved in everything we did and he would often connect with my brother and I through music. If we were very into a certain type of music, be it rock, heavy rock, metal...whatever....my dad would learn about the group and listen to the music until he had an appreciation for it too. My dad is long gone, but that's a memory that will stick with me forever. I can't help but think that if he were alive today, he would be taking a deep dive into BTS with me and loving them too. loved the reaction! waiting for more. It was the same choreography btw. You were right all their songs do have one iconic choreography that they perform everywhere though sometimes for some songs, at concerts they choose to only sing and jump around rather than doing the choreography.

Did you think just a short time ago you would not only call out their names but also pick out JK’s ad libs? That’s too funny and so sweet how fast you got them. If you want to check out a really cool performance of Boy with Luv, watch the KZbin video of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He films his show in the old Ed Sullivan theatre. BTS performed on the same stage setup in black and white, (with the drum kit in the background) as when The Beatles did The Ed Sullivan show back in the day. It’s a fantastic performance! 💜💜

Generally, the practices they post are for performances. They always differ a little from the MVs because they need a full choreo for a live show.

I think you have been confused between "choreography mv" and "dance practice ". The choreo mvs are what they publish as the clean, finished product without breaking it up with camera work or scenery. Usually, I think, the dance practices are more in fun, they goof off, wear Halloween costumes, play rock/paper/scissors to see who has to do the ending dance break, or dress as Snow White...check out practices for "Just One Day", "Go-Go" and "20th Century Girl."
