Not bad for a 9 year old. Take a fifties classic song by Screaming Jay Hawkins, arrange the music and then sing like a 40 year old jazz singer. This girl is a gift to us all. Welcome to Angelina's world.

💗💗💗her grandma Mery Zemani is an artist (poet and painter) and music lover who introduced Angelina to Jazz at a very early age... Angelina loved singing since she was one and a half (Whitney Houston), but she was obsessed with the jazz greats Mery introduced her to, like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald or Etta James... as soon as she was able and allowed to do so she started surfing youtube and searching for artists for hours, and practice singing for hours. She's mainly self taught, her teachers were wise enough to not mess with her natural talent, just showed her how to avoid damaging her instrument... Peace and love from Bavaria!

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English, Japanese and Swedish. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. A 9 years and 2 months old, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a KZbin video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina has concerts scheduled in Norway in July 2022. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be. I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.

She was born in Oslo, Norway and attended a Waldorf School. If you are not familiar with Waldorf schools they are holistic and use the arts in teaching. It is the ideal school for someone interested in the arts. There is a KZbin video of her in a bed singing into a mic when she was 18 months old. There are videos of her in a recording studio, six or seven years old. She was a contestant on Norways Got Talent, performing age seven and aired age eight. She was tiny compared to other contestants. She won. She sang Gloomy Sunday from Billie Holiday, and Summertime, etc. she has sung in many countries, from Nobel Peace ceremony, for Quincy Jones on his birthday concert at the O2 Arena, and for him personally, and so much more. Rusty Shackleford made a labor of love list compiled of 132 covers she has uploaded to KZbin. Her uncle has a music career. Her grandmother is an international artist from the Mid-East. Her grandfather was Japanese. Her dad is a Swedish engineer although he is not much in her career. She is multilingual. When she sings she finds notes that will take your breath away.

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

- The Barefoot Princess - (From her book, television and radio interviews, and podcasts made between 2014-2015. Includes excerpts from her diary made that day in 2012.) Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public, she has also worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. I read that her passion for music began at just one-and-a-half years of age when Angelina first saw Whitney Houston on KZbin performing I Will Always Love You and Billie Holiday became a favourite of hers too. She started imitating these singers and that is how her parents discovered her talent. I don't think either of her parents are musicians, certainly not professionally.
@RaymondCore Жыл бұрын
Home video has her singing Whitney Houston at a year and a half and KZbin has videos of her, at age 6, in her school's recording studio where she also got vocal training. Her musical influence is her artist Grandmother's jazz record collection. She auditioned for Norway's Got Talent at age seven and won after just turning 8. She was raised to only perform when school was out and she only did charity work even though the NGT win got her lots of big money offers. She has performed for Obama and the Nobel Prize Committee and for Royalty. She always performs barefoot until all children in the world have shoes and she has raised millions for that cause. She is the youngest published aurthor in her home country, Norway. Her performances are chosen and arranged by her and are one take. She was a finalist on America's Got Talent and did a unique cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody that was so good, Queen gave her the rights. She performed at Quincy Jones B'day at London't O2 Arena and he said she is the greatest talent since Michael Jackson. When she does covers, and she has done many, she always honors the original artist but gives the Angelina extra. Her grandmother produces her videos, her uncle Michael is her manager, the piano player is her producer at Republic Records where she has complete artistic control. She is a prodigy, along the lines of Mozart, but singing and arranging. Her voice is still developing.

As others are saying, no one else in her family is especially musically talented or "connected" in the way you were talking about, as far as we know. Her uncle (mother's brother), who became her manager, comes the closest: he was a hip-hop DJ for a few years before he shifted to music management. But, as he tells the story, "Three months after I started the management [company], with no artists or any real talent in sight, my niece signed up for _Norway’s Got Talent_ ." He makes it sound like he didn't even know she could sing, but that's not the case: she had been singing for friends and family for many years at that point, and in fact had been saying that she wanted to be a "superstar" who could "sing for the whole world" for at least a couple of years. (She started singing at 1½, announced that she wanted to sing for Simon Cowell on one of his shows when she was 3, and had been asking her mother to sign her up for talent competitions that she was too young to participate in, at least since she was 5.) Her grandmother (mother's mother) has been described as a child prodigy, but in art and poetry, not music. She seems to have served mainly as a creative inspiration and a source of strength for Angelina. I haven't seen or read anything that would suggest she pushed her granddaughter into perfoming. As for her parents, it's obvious that neither of them would have chosen a life "in the public eye" for themselves or for their daughter (unless she chose it for herself, which she clearly did). I say this based on the fact that her mother has always seemed *very* uncomfortable on camera (in the handful of interviews we've seen her in over the years) and has always talked about taking things slow and trying to give her daughter as normal a life as possible until she is old enough to take control of it; and her father is almost never seen at all (I only know of one instance where he answered a few questions on camera, right after Angelina won NGT). It's pretty obvious that Angelina has always been the driving force behind her own singing "career" (in quotes since it effectively began when she was 1½) and that it is she who dragged the rest of her (immediate) family, kicking and screaming, into the public eye, not the other way 'round. Finally, I will note that in the footage of her singing at 1½ (which you will see eventually, if you continue to react to her), she appears to be holding a wireless karaoke mic and her voice sounds like it's being piped through a speaker. That might explain how she got interested in singing in the first place: perhaps her family had "karaoke nights" that she witnessed from birth. We don't know.

9 years old This was my introduction to Angelina song. I had to stop half the way through to reorient myself and verify I wasn’t falling into some black magic. Unbelievable. She has had no training except a little after school when she was young. Her grandmother Mery Zanami (?) loves jazz. Angelina heard that. She would learn a song or two during the week then give a family concert on the weekend. She studied piano at this time. Age six or seven she sang in a recording studio. Age seven/eight she won Norway’s Got Talent. Listen to every song. Gloomy Sunday. Summertime, etc.

Angelina was near her 9th birthday when she created this arrangement for the 1956 Screamin Jay Hawkins classic and then took control of the studio and musicians to deliver a powerful, sassy performance. Angelina taught herself to sing and arrange songs. She is a prodigy with a skill set unlike any other that I know of. For Angelina, it is all about telling the story of the song and conveying the emotion. Angelina is easily my all time favorite musical artist.

Welcome to Angelina's world. She is an extraordinary young artist with over 180 covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 17 which is her current age. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8 and has already established herself as an accomplished Jazz artist. Her preferred genre is Jazz but she has done covers of about every genre you can name. What you will find in Angelina is a vocalist who doesn't do vocal gymnastics, she simply and beautifully interprets the story and meaning of the song and pours her soul into every performance. Angelina has sung all over the world for Nobel Laureates, heads of state, music icons, and other dignitaries. She has performed everywhere from small weddings of a few people, to London's O2 stadium, and Seoul South Korea with 40,000 people. She performs at jazz festivals, conferences, and charity benefits. At the age of 17, she is a seasoned performer with 11 years of recording and performing. She is at her best in front of a live band and an audience. Many of her live performances when she was 10, 11, and 12 years old blow away even the original adult performers of the songs she sings. She is definitely worth your time to experience and get to know. She has covered Sinatra, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Queen, Miley Cyrus, Patsy Cline, James Brown, Lana Del Rey, Norah Jones, Adele, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Screamin Jay Hawkins, and many more. She signed with Republic Records when she was 14 and has been working on new original music while she completes high school which will be this year. She has announced that her first commercially released album with Republic will drop this fall at which time RR will begin their full scale promotion of Angelina as an artist. I expect her career to take off like a rocket as soon as she is introduced commercially to the world. Here is a sampling of my top favorites of hers that cover a variety of genres and ages. Her grandmother Mery is a world renowned artist, but not a musician, a painter. She was exposed to jazz from an early age, and there is video of her singing into a toy microphone at 18 months old. She won Norway has talent in 2014, she was 7 when she auditioned, and made the judges weep, one of whom while wiping tears from his face said " you are music" she was on the first season of the champions edition of agt and got the golden buzzer for her own arrangement of bohemian rhapsody. Arrangement is such a light word, she deconstructed and reinvented it. The contestants back stage fell audibly discourages as she moved the entire theater, and touched everyone. Dude this chick is DIFFERENT. I have said for many years that Adele is not the voice of a generation but of the century, that they will be talking about her in another hundred years. Then AJ outsang her on her own tracks. I refuse to recant my position though, and call her the voice of the millennium. They will know her influence on music in a thousand years. I look forward to her molding the face of music, for the next half century. She may redefine what music is, and I'm by God here for it.

When Angelina was 5 years of age she attended her schools after class music program in Oslo where they did not try to influence her voice but taught her how to care for it as well as teaching her music theory. Even up to this day A.J. is always experimenting with her voice she is always trying out various vocal gymnastics in her tiktok short vids that she drops regularly. My thoughts on this performance. I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 17 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻

Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022.

No one in her family is musical although her grandma Mery is a renowned visual artist and who introduced tiny Angelina to jazz very early. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). I've put this together from other sources: Angelina's mother, Sara Astar, is Norwegian and the daughter of Iranian artist and poet Mery Zamani and a Japanese father. Her father, Gerry Christian Slättman, is Swedish. Jordan received vocal training and piano lessons in the after-school program of the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts in Oslo, Norway. In addition, she plays the violin, guitar and flute, and she also paints. As far as I know, she has further published a book in Norway. I believe that Angelina's background is an excellent example of how a mixture of very diverse influences can mount in incredible and multi-faceted talent. All best from Germany

As far as anyone knows, nobody in Angelina's family sings or plays. Her earliest influences were her grandmother's music collection and KZbin suggestions. She clearly had a very good ear and a passion for singing. While many children her age could pick out a melody and hold a tune, she seems to have been attracted to the stylistic intricacies best represented by jazz singers. Pre-teen Angelina improvised ways to make the sounds in her head while the rest of her anatomy was busy catching up. I have joked in the past that the first music teacher who tried to tutor her has been rocking back and forth in a darkened room ever since but I was making the serious point that the only thing any vocal coach could do for her is teach her how to protect and preserve her voice as it evolves. So, having come to terms with the notion that Angelina's ability and potential as a singer seemed limitless, I became much more fascinated by her creativity. Sure, I had read comments about her being referred to as 'the boss' and had seen what I then viewed as a contrived handing over her arrangement in the above video, but I wasn't fully convinced Angelina could also arrange and compose until she posted California Dreamin' and Shield. She was 12, had honoured a personal invitation from Quincy Jones to perform Fly Me to the Moon at a tribute concert in my home town and, for the first time, I was beginning to think of her as not merely a prodigious talent but potentially a musical genius. Despite this, my heart dropped a year later when I became aware she not only planned to audition for America's Got Talent but to do so by covering Bohemian Rhapsody - two choices that could spell career suicide. Well, she not only dropped the mic on me back then, based on the evidence of this past week, she appears to be about to make me look a fool again for thinking a self-written debut album as a 17-year-old would be too great a risk.

- Who is Angelina Jordan - Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 6 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear. At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more. Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood. That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old. Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. Some attribute this to her refusal to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. She turned 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. Are you able to post a source for this information, please? My understanding is that she enrolled in the after school arts and music programme at the age of four and that it was part of the Waldorf School she attended. If I am correct, it means she was there at least until the age of seven. As to lessons for her voice, I was under the impression that these were given post her performance of "I put a spell on you" at age 9 and that the sole purpose of the lessons was to show her ways to sing which would not damage her vocal cords. I have no sources for my views other than the many comments over the years on these matters

Again, from what I can remember, she was receiving vocal lessons to sing without hurting her voice, but the family pulled her from the singing lessons due to some issue in which they thought it would change singing voice uniqueness. I just got an e-mail from Pontus. He has heard the same thing, but he doesn't remember the exact source. We're waiting for Alan to respond to see if he remembers. Sorry Albert, sometimes when we accumulate so much information about Angelina, remembering the sources gets a bit vague.....

Yeah she learned to sing and talk at the same time, had a beautiful, encouraging family. They were well off it sounds like. At 3 she knew she wanted to be a singer and sing for Simon Cowel. She was sent to a great music school at like 4 or 5 I think. She got to learn music theory and even get some studio time by 6 years old. She already was arranging music, like this song by 9. Sounds like 8 actually. It's crazy. I guess a sharp kid loved music, literally was filmed singing at 1 and 1/2 years old. Whitney, I will always love you. So I don't know, she got her wheels turning really early with music which helped a lot I guess. Sang and listened to real music through her entire formative years. Had quality help around her and a great family for that I guess. I'd even have to assume we can all thank the musicians she worked with as a child, who must have been awesome minds for a kid to work with, and been there to help. So now she has like 25 years of masterclass experience at 17 years old, because formative years and finding a real love and passion so young. By 9 she probably had 15 years experience. A tireless love it must have been. I assume this is what happens when a toddler develops that part of their brain tirelessly, loving every minute of it to this day. But our sample size is like 1, so who knows.

The original version was done by Screamin J Hawkins in the mid 1950s, one of the best version ever recorded was by the band Credence Clearwater Revival.

Great reaction and new sub. Her Grandma introduced her to Jazz. She had very little training. She is a natural and practices hours every day. This is the greatest performance ever. Barely 9 and does her own arrangements. You would like her cover of Bohemian Rhapsody on America's Got Talent Champions 2020 at 13 years old. So good Queen gave her the copy rights to her version. Then all 4 performances on Norway's Got Talent 2014 at 7 and 8. She won. Gloomy Sunday, I'm a Fool to Want you, Bang Bang and Summertime.

There is a video of her singing a couple lines from Whitney at 1-1/2. There is her first studio recording at 6. She auditioned for Norway's Got Talent at 7 .. at 8 she won. So .. this is a year after she won NGT.

A couple of years back, this reaction would have brought you thousands of "Likes" and dozens of subs, believe me. But now as her first new single under Republic Records has been dropped 3 days ago, "Angels" (Her fans) are more focused on reacting to the new song "Love don't let me go". Otherwise, Angelina has thousands of very faithful and enthusiastic fans. Good reaction by the way. You've got a lot to catch up with.

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXLOi3d3ja90aqc

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time in her cover of the Sceamin' Jay Hawkins 1950s classic (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Even at this young age, the band members affectionately referred to her as "The Boss". But in order to get a better understanding of her musical roots, I highly recommend going back to all 4 of her Norway Got Talent performances - starting with her audition singing Gloomy Sunday - at age 7. (And why did she go on NGT at age 7? Because even though she wanted to go on when she was even younger, 7 was the minimum age :). Also recommend her USA debut on The View at age 8 (after winning NGT) singing Fly Me To The Moon. It also includes a short interview where she answers the question as to how old she was when she started singing. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
