Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

- Who is Angelina Jordan - Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7. Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. I think you'll find the more you experience her performances, you'll see she doesn't do anything on accident. Quincy Jones said she is the best vocalist since Michael Jackson. David Foster couldn't praise her enough, and Sugar Foot, Michael Jackson's drummer, said she "is the best to come to us in our time." Nora Jones had her open her Concert in Korea with 40,000 people. She was asked to do an encore. She was 10 years old. Every major label on the planet tried signing her, including Disney and Simon Cowell from AGT. she turned them all down. It's why she was "voted off" AGT the Champions. She wouldn't sign. She won Norways got talent when she was 8. The president of Republic Records met with her personally and agreed to Angelina's terms, and at 14, she signed with them. Angelina was declared a national treasure by the King of Norway. Welcome to the Angelina Jordan rabbit hole. She's the real deal, and imo (and many others as well) she's the best female vocalist/artist to come around in the past century - already there - and she's only 17. You will move from impressed and a little confused to completely blown away after you listen to her a few more times. This is an original song, written after the passing of her grandfather. Angelina always writes and/or arranges her music (she has done that since she was very little). Her fans are called her Angels, and are devoted, caring, informed, and wonderful humans. She has 170+ covers and originals here on YT. One of my favorite phrases (I read it from an Angel's comment), Angelina doesn't cover songs - she uncovers songs. She's amazing. I can tell by the number number of comments that you have been given a lot of information about her. Based on your reaction/comments, here’s my info for you. Yes she should send sings with a lot of emotion, it’s one of the most bings, love about her singing. She is self taught. Although she has been amazing for over 10 years, she turned 17 on January 10th, I believe early on she learned how to mimic the sounds and styles form the many great artists she listened to. Probably not fully understanding what she was doing. In a very short period of time she knew very well what she was doing and clearly developed her own unique style voice. It does not matter what genre or song, you know it’s her. She does her own arrangements and chooses the songs songs. She’s a master at improvising and rewriting lyrics to be more appropriate. Yes this is one her original songs. It does not matter what song of hers, regardless of age , that will not leave amazed. ❤❤

Your perception of the music just coming out of her mouth is on point. She closes her eyes & goes to that other World she talks about. She never sings a song the same way twice because she sings it on the fly, as she feels it. There are many performances of her at home with an acoustic guitarist, mostly ages 11 (with Egil Clausen in Norway)& 12 (with Ivan Mendez in LA) where they just decide on a song to sing minutes before they perform & record it for the 1st time, while Angelina reads the lyrics. Apparently a 2nd take is only needed if the guitarist messes up since they say she never does. Her digital mentors & teachers on KZbin were primarily Billy Holiday, but Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Shirley Bassey, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé & Adele are all major influences. I've never seen anything like her, I'm just so happy I discovered her 5 years ago & listen to her every day.
