Hello! I read a post about this song that after Lionel Ritchie heard Dimash’s version of Hello, he had his attorneys restrain Dimash from ever singing it again. Dimash- our Prince of World Peace;) Lionel Ritchie should feel honored that Dimash wanted to sing Hello!

From what I've heard, Ritchie did give Dimash props for this performance but you still have to get permission to perform someone else's song in a show like this.

There is no evidence on the internet of this. LR asked his lawyers about Adele’s version but it was about the title of the song and they said he has no patent on the title of the song hello. There is nothing anywhere on Dimash and LR having a conflict on the song

The older man in a white shirt, sitting in the back room is called Tengri. Dimash does a fantastic duet with him called Swan Goose. They perform it with a Mongolian throat singing group. It’s very unusual, with up beat and slow portions of the song. They both change languages during the song too. Some of Dimash’s collaborations are really fun. Drunken Concubine with Li Yugang, is a mash up with Diva Dance, Thanks for your reaction, You have such a soothing voice.

This was the bonus episode, so they weren't really competing, its a benefit show for charity. I think that year was for the environment. Dimash absolutely made that song his own. What you don't see here is Jessie J was backstage listening to him sing and was amazed.

Also towards the end of this performance , the camera cuts to a guy wearing a tan jacket with a darker shirt . This is Jam , the lead singer for the Chinese band Lion and now a good friend of Dimash. Check out his expression and then remember he heard all 13 performances of Dimash from the 2017 I Am Singer. He and the Lion band placed third on The Singer in 2017. (. Maybe it was because he said that Dimash had just totally blown away all the singers in his country, at something , the taleen, that is their thing. So sad!! 😔😔

Apart from the changes of composition, Dimash is sooo good at bringing the meaning of every word - it's happens because of re- phrasing - he does it to all of of the songs he covers. Extraordinary!!!!

Wonderful. What a beautiful cover. He even makes the covers he sings his own and brings his own elements to the song that you would never expect. He is so awesome. I grew up with Hello by Lionel Richie. I loved this song. But to be honest, I like Dimash’s version much better. Sorry Lionel. The melismas give me goosebumps without end. At the end he says “I love you” in Mandarin and then in Kazakh. This performance took place in 2018 in the same competition where he appeared in 2017. In 2018 he was a guest. The people in the background were singers and the audience (they are the jury-members). Unfortunately, Lionel Richie banned Dimash from singing the song again and I dont know if that’s still the case today. The flute is called Sygyzgy and is mainly played in the Kyrgyz and Kazakh regions. According to Wikepedia it is traditionally played by shepherd horse herders. A wonderful sound. Another great reaction. Dimash's rendition of Lionel Richie’s "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018"; he was not competing that year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern?Turkish runs in the song. His friend, Erlan Bekchurin, did the musical arrangement for this performance, as well as most of his other arrangements. The flute is called a sybyzgy, a traditional Kazakh flute, and precursor to the modern flutes. This is my favorite rendition of the song; even better than the original in my humble opinion.

I love this cover of Hello. I feel that Dimash portrays the feelings of vulnerability, isolation and longing so beautifully in this version. Even if I did not love Dimash so intensely, I would choose this cover of the original. I love all your reactions. Must admit I am a bit surprised by how high your subscriptions have risen in the short time since I discovered you on your first Dimash reaction. I am pretty sure they were about 62k then.
