I have watched this so many times. And I still tear up every time. I am a Filipino so I know what kind of hardship he has been through. And as a Filipino, I am so very proud of him. He may not have won the title but he is truly a champion.

Marcelito Pomoy made a history on AGT and around the world that everyone's never forget. He came 3rd but he's the only singer in the top 5. Simon used Marcelito to gain viewers, he had the most unique talent. And if it had been a real contest he would have won. But he did millions of fans around the world. Saying Marcelito had a hard time growing up is a huge understatement. His father was in prison and his mother abandoned him. He was in a couple of foster homes where he was treated badly. At 7, he ran away and lived alone on the streets for about 10 years. When he was scared, he would sing and eventually taught himself to sing like that. As a teenager, he got help and found a home where he attended school for the first time. In his early 20s, he was on Philippines Got Talent (he won) and used the exposure to find his family and reconnect with them. Despite all he's been through, he appears to be a happy and funny person with a passion for helping others through their hard times.

He is on tour now of the U.S. I saw him last year when he came to the U.S. He loves to have fun with his audience! It was such an amazing concert for me. I drove a long way to see him but it was worth the trip! Awesome!

It was clear that Simon didn't want Marcelito to win. As his performances progressed, Simon gave him a hard time. For example, he insisted that Marcelito sing Beauty and the Beast, then criticized him for singing it. All Simon cared about was using him to generate ratings. How Marcelito only came in 4th is mind blowing. It made thousands of Marcelito fans very angry.

I agree, I no longer have any respect for Simon. The only good thing is Marcelito doesn’t have to be tied to AGT, he can do his own things. He is my favorite singer and is a wonderful man with a great and supportive wife!

You had wanted more back story? He was on the Ellen show and his interpreter became his wife. Ellen's show sent him plane tickets to get to the USA for the show and set him up to meet Celine Dion who was his favorite singer. He speaks english now. He literally slept in the streets from about age 7 and was finally able to start going to school at 12 to learn to read and write. He's quite an amazing guy. He has a charity to repair and build houses for people in the Philippines that he finances with his KZbin channel income. He tours worldwide.
