I spoke with Gavin, and these are 62 - 63 HRC M390. Another reason they are the best in the business. He also said there would be full titanium ones in the future as well as fancy versions. I am not the biggest fan of proprietary pivots, but he confirmed they are shipping with the tool. Another benefit being it looks cool and it's almost impossible to strip the pivot. I would have liked a cheaper price but i didn't skip a beat on the preorder. In the end they are still 250 less than the only other comparable knife, the Rook.

High quality action is a thing that any enthusiast can recognize. Preferred action is so personal though. It is what delights the tactile sense. This looks like great click clackery! I would love that. I am also still a huge fan of Grimsmo action even if the hot take among reviewers seems to be that it's over rated

I love the blade shape of the 940 and this is the closest I have seen. Don't know why Benchmade hasn't pushed that knife (preferably with something else besides the garbage springs)... But this thing exists and I am definitely interested! Thanks Metal Man.

Beautiful knife. The design is appealing and the craftsmanship looks excellent. But with M390, a non-contoured carbon fiber over titanium scales, it’s really not worth the asking price. You can get an M390 blade in a full Ti handle from Winterblade for half of that, and their locks are just, if not more, sophisticated.

You're comparing a Chinese mass produced production knife to a small batch semi custom with a proprietary locking system made entirely in the united states. M390 is such a small part of the equation here man. The final pricetag is far more complicated than which blade steel they used.

Almost everything you said is true (I’d argue that the materials - blade steel and Ti scales do make up a sizable portion of the total manufacturing cost). I’m also not sure we can fairly call Winterblade knives “mass-produced”. You have spoken many times about price and value, especially with Spyderco and Benchmade. And in this case, I just don’t see another $400+ in value there over a knife like the Severn or Factor 8ight. For $900+, there might be better choices in that niche of the market, US made or not. You’re getting into the overpriced Shiro territory! 😊

My issue isn’t the price. It’s the aesthetics, which of course are subjective. Additionally, the knife looks cheap to me. Divo and others have much better looking fat carbon imo. But hey, to each their own! If you own it, want to, or just admire it from a far, as long as you love it then that’s all that matters.

Fat carbon is fat carbon. It all comes from the same company. There are some imitation companies and people mistakenly label it as "fat carbon" which is probably what's causing the confusion. Correct. It's all subjective.

I like a good high-end, in-house production knife. This one... ain't doing it for me. The design is way too busy, and there's no real flow to any of the lines. It looks like there was no consideration into how the knife looks in the closed position.
